+/- threads are a lot more fun when the Packers win!
Excellent team victory.
Gotta give it up for the Big Uglies up front, Jacobs, and brilliant play designs that created a very potent rush attack.
Giving it up for Willis, too. For him, I think he had an excellent game!
Doubs and Wicks were outstanding, and everybody contributed when given an opportunity.

The Packers DBs are a solid, if not spectacular, group. 7 different players were credited with a PBU, and of course the INTs by X and Williams.
Valentine played well and had an excellent PBU.
Eric Wilson had an excellent game, including his INT.
He took a lot of grief in last week's +/- thread, but I thought he played well and was fairly solid. Given the probability of my eyes 'lying' to me, I waited to see how he did this week, and the results speak for themselves.

I thought MLF was way too conservative with play calls after the 1st quarter and certainly by halftime. This probably reflects the reasons why he's a professional head coach and I'm not.
He was disciplined enough to stick to his game plan, and that was likely the smartest thing to do, but their defense was so ripe for the PA plays I don't know how he resisted that. It didn't need to be bombs away but 20 yard+ passes would've been very effective.

Defense
DL and LB continue to disappoint.
Pass rush is weak, rush defense is as bad as ever.
With that said, I think they have been in a shitstorm of performance, specific game planning for opposing teams/players, and limitations of aggressiveness because of the way game conditions developed that has 'conspired' against them. Let's hope that improves going forward.

LBs need something, and I think that begins with players like Cooper and Wilson getting more snaps. For as good as McDuffie is vs the run, he's been targeted vs the pass in both games, and it's a serious liability. Walker is playing out of control and/or very undisciplined. Cooper will have an occasional wild miss, but nothing that would keep me from playing him some more.
If it takes switching their position as some have suggested, they need to do it sooner rather than later.
In any case, Campanile needs to get his shit together.

Injuries.
I read where Lloyd has an ankle injury, and Morgan has a shoulder injury.
Both of these guys need to catch a break. I hate to see their development slowed; they have both looked good in limited action.

Plussesses:

  • Opening day at Lambeau. It was not cold. Not cool. Not even slightly!
  • Crowd energy was great. Decent number of Colts fans. Just enough to have some fun with them. On the 4th down plays before they scored a TD I think Lambeau was as loud as I've ever heard it.
  • Defense played their asses off. Even when the offense slowed down in the 2nd half they were still getting big stops and turnovers
  • The running game. Holy shit. Colts fan in front of me was beside himself over how easy it was even when they knew it was coming over and over.
  • My son got a glove, towel and wristband after the game. He even got someone to sign his hat. Well, technically my hat.
  • Malik! He wasn't asked to do a lot but he did it well, puke ball and all.

Negs:

  • It was hot. Hot! 85 at kickoff and they ran out of water in the 2nd half. While reminding everyone to stay hydrated.
  • Finding out the autograph on my hat was from Ellis Merriweather.
  • The holding call and fumble on two Jacobs TD runs prevented a blowout win.
  • Lloyd to IR, that sucks.
  • IT WAS HOT!!!

Maybe a stadium roof is a good idea afterall so they can close it on hot days.
