Watson and Doubs are raw rookies, especially Watson. They’re not good now even if they become so later. Amari didn’t get any snaps over any of them, Lazard isn’t much even when heathy, Cobb has lost a couple of steps and Watkins has been a oft-injured tease throughout his career. Eight years ago Watkins and Cobb would have been a promising duo.

This isn’t 2014.

Thought I read that Beasley is a head case. No way do we go after OBJr, either. His  recovery from his injury won't be complete until play off time. Based on the way the Packers played vs minnesota, making the play offs is not a certainty.

I agree about OBJ. I am unclear about Cole being a head case. I have read that he is stubborn so you may have a point. Yet a one year rental for a true slot WR could be valuable. We have the outside guys but I have little faith in Cobb and no faith in AmRodgers. If a slot WR can constantly get open it will diminish the need for Aaron to hold on to the ball, wait for somebody to get open and worry about our leaky offensive line. Adams would sometimes slide into the slot in the past. A true slot WR would boost the offense.

I lost faith in Cobb 5 years ago.   He is good for sandlot plays these days and not much else.

He's where Driver was in his last year. He has lost so much speed and elusiveness that he be covered by a safety or even a good LB.

I get keeping Cobb around to have someone for Rodgers to talk to, but you could do that as Assistant Coach and not take up a roster spot.

Watson, Doubs, Lazard- yes use them, but the rest of the WRs are lacking. I wouldn’t blame Gute for getting one more. But, I do not care for Beasley or Beckham.

I mentioned in the Amari thread I think they should see about getting Marvin Jones from Jacksonville. He should be relatively cheap, has the size they want and probably better than what they have or at least a buffer for the young guys.

I doubt they’d make a big splash, but this would be inline for something they would do.

Goalline, that made me laugh and it made me think. I am starting to wonder about the emphasis on team chemistry etc. perhaps it’s time to work on a hard nosed team responsibility.

Honestly, you know athletes are paid too well when team chemistry takes such a prominent role. For the rest of us getting paid and having success at our jobs is what matters the most. Working with our best friends? Not really a priority.

When you're worth $200M you can afford to care about things. Somehow I doubt Mitch Trubisky cares if his BFF is on the squad...

  • In a team sport, chemistry is important. I remember being with a group of coworkers who were turds. I did better after they left. We all did. No matter how many artificial get togethers we had, they still were turds. What I was referring to was about the coaching. I want the coaches to coach hard and that may sometimes hurt some feelings. But if the team wins because of that then everyone feels good about it.
