+ 3 turnovers.

- 1 forced punt.

- 6:30 drive allowed to essentially end the game.

- 9 points off 3 turnovers.  2 being across the 50.

- Pass rush leaving the DBs out to dry.

- 42 penalties for 348 yards

- Love injury and our backup is…. Fuck me.

First game can set the tone for fans and players. The same frickin' defense that we've seen for so many years in a row. Once again, GB looks soft in the trenches. The zing, the fire, the hot piss was missing for what everyone is hoping is a Superb Owl year. And I hate -- just hate -- to lose. I didn't expect them to win them all, but I had hoped they'd start with a win.

And then, Love goes down. From the way he sat on the bench for a very long time, I'm interpreting it as something serious and they knew it right away.

bless your week one heart

Lots of angst about the Defense, but I actually pin this game mostly on the Offense (and STs).  Green Bay's defense wasn't great, but they got three turnovers which resulted in a whopping 9 points by the offense (in addition to saving points with a pick in the end zone).

Turn one of those picks into 7 instead of 3 and make an NFL chip shot (effectively) and you win 36-34 (theoretically).

yeah, he must be drunk to.

The next time our STs coach is in front of a room of reporters he needs to be questioned thoroughly about 25's decision making. I was waiting for 25 to do what he did at the end there, but then I distinctly remembered comments from this offseason about how what 25 was doing last year wasn't working so good...and then 25 went ahead and did it anyway. Ponderous!

Reed

Kicker, although he missed one he should have made.

Missed opportunities (abysmal in red zone).

Defense

Penalties

And the big one: Injury to Love

I'm going to dread the next international game. QB1 taking bad dings at the end of the last two of these things. Let's send that email out to the league office volunteering for Hard Knocks whatever version before the plane touches down in WI.

Richie's honeymoon period has long came and went. He's one of the highest paid coordinators in all of football and the results just suck. Nixon had no business taking that out.

To be fair they had some excellent kick off coverages tonight.

I was thinking....WOW the coverage finally improved.....and then Nixon takes it out from 9 yards deep

Defense failed when needed.

Love had a mediocre game, hopefully, he isn't hurt too badly. But I remain skeptical off just part of a season he had in 2023 (I've said this before).

Tough to draw a ton of positives from this game other than Reed.

Way too many mental mistakes across the board.

Very shaky OL play and LB play most of the night.

Then Love gets hurt.  Of course he did.

In the end, yes it’s one game, but if Love is out for more than a few games this season is over before it really even started.   Not what you want at all.

+ Jacobs finally showed his significant talent after a rough start. Got lucky on that fumble though.

+ McKinney addition paid dividends immediately

+ Reed almost singlehandedly kept them in the game. He was great.

- For Love’s 1st game under his new contract, he was pretty disappointing overall. Had some moments but was definitely not one of his better days in his short career.

- O-Line overall was just okay and not particularly sharp.

- Tackling on defense was awful.

- D Line overall did not have a good day

- Jaire was an overall negative despite the INT that kept the Pack in the game.

- - Love’s injury looked like something that could make him miss time, let’s just hope it ‘s just a couple practices missed.  I think we all know there’s a possibility he’s lost for a lot longer than a couple practices though. What a horrible way to end that awful game.

+ Reed is both very good and fun to watch.

+ The running game was surprisingly effective. Wilson looked good in both halves and Jacobs looked good as the game wore on.

—— 4 teams with supposed Super Bowl aspirations played on Thursday and Friday and the Packers featured the 4th best defense and 4th best kicker among the 4 teams. We do what we do.

+++++ Football is back! Reed really stepped up. 2 TDs, one on a nice pass and another on a sweep. Narveson played well for a rookie. Even though he missed one from 46ish. He made one from 64, before the game. Whelan was solid with his punting. McKinney's INT. Jaire's INT. Wyatt's fumble recovery. Jacobs and Wilson got the Running game going , a bit, in the 2nd half. Rashan Gary!

------Love getting injured, late in the game. I pray it is nothing serious. OL couldn't open any holes for our RBs, for most of the 1st half. Way too many penalties!!! Bad tackling efforts, all around. Quay looked out of place at times, even though he led the team  in tackles, with 11( 7 solo and 4 Ast). He actually was tied with Bullard, there. The field conditions were horrible. I think that led to a lot of the bad tackling, no open holes, etc. We lost to the Eagles due to the Eagles making the most of their opportunities. Taking points off the board isn't a good thing to do. Trying to run up the gut, over and over, and on a 2 point conversion, when it hasn't worked, all night. Lots of dropped passes. Some bad passes, as well. Phillie now owns the tie breaker over the Packers, should it come down to that.

I get bringing it out, even if I didn’t agree with it. They’re trying to generate big plays, especially with the offense struggling. Nixon dropping the easy pick six was a killer, and Jaire is pretty good with the ball in his hands. Nixon is also there in no small part because of his return ability.

The offense was generally off. Love’s placement was a bit off target, the receivers showed they lack that reliable-handed guy and the line struggled a lot. Walker looked sluggish as heck, and not just when he wasn’t able to cheat in his stance in pass sets. Jalen Carter is a beast, but Myers and Morgan really struggled when he went with power. Rhyan probably held up best against him. Jenkins and Tom seemed to do okay, but it’s not enough. Getting the two early turnovers and not converting to touchdowns was a killer. Championship teams get that done.

The defense looked okay at times, but McDuffie is so limited and Wilson is a JAG. Van Ness looked like a guy without a plan on his snaps. Philly has a lot of talent on offense and the defense created a great turnover ratio the offense didn’t capitalize on. There were still some gaffes but it was an improvement. Gary had a good game against probably the best RT in the game. Preston seemed to have a solid game, as well. It wasn’t flashy, but he seemed to be holding his edge and containing his side pretty well.

Had he made his other attempt, it would have been a nice night for Narveson. He got a number of real game attempts with none being too tricky to get in the groove. Probably still a positive due to the experience factor, but marginally so with the miss.

+ it's Saturday so I've got that going for me I guess. Could be Monday.

- I'm hungover, depressed over the loss, worried about Love, googling "Jordan Love injury" every 2 seconds and hitting refresh.

-IF Love injury is serious I really believe GB is fucked unless some super human gets signed to QB team.

- All this shit happens the week before I'm supposed to take 4 guys from FL to their first trip ever to Lambeau vs Indy. Yeah, GB will still be there, but the experience will not be the same with a backup in there and a deflated fan base.

I hope they get him to expand on that in the next presser. Seems like a weird thing to happen out of the gate. I wonder if it has to do with getting the right personnel on the field or style of play.  Also seems to be a lot of attention about the D line play. He talked about both gaps in the run and pressure in the pass. Bet that was a long flight home for Jason Rebrovich.

You can tell from the presser he thought they should have been able to find a way to win that game and is pissed, particularly with the red zone performance.
