How would we fans know ?

Maybe he is getting everything humanly possible out of the limited athletes he has to work with. Or not. The results aren't what we / they want, but I don't know how us fans would be able to tell where the responsibility lies ( and maybe its little of each)

Winston didn't do real well in his interviews when he was a hot candidate for DC or HC awhile back, but he must have done something to garner those interviews in the first place.

Here's his group:

B.Jones was a re-positioned 7th,

DJ Smith a 6th,(injured/cut)

Barrington a 6th, (TBD)

Bishop a 6th (injured/cut)

Terrell Manning a 5th (injured/cut)

Lattimore ( injured, kept)

Francois were udfa.  (injured TBD)

Bishop worked out, Jones got a 2nd contract and the rest are imminently fungible

Not sure if that's what you'd expect out of those late picks or if they should have done better than 2-3 players out of 7 tries.

And is that attributable to the coaching ?

I think that sheds light on why these coaches all hire one another

Whisenhunt goes to Titans and takes Ray Horton with him

Capers knew trgovac from Carolina

Lovie grabbed Leslie for a buccaneer pride parade

MM promotes from within except when he goes out, and those new guys all have some connection to MM at Pitt, KC, N.O.

They trust the guys they know to share their vision and incorporate it into the position groups.

Trust is probably more important than X's and O's when you have 20 coaches

Emphasis mine.

From his website.

He's also certified in Rex Kwon Do

Moss received the Asst. HC title after the 2007 season I believe. To be fair to him and Hawk, it looked to me like the Packers had struck gold with Hawk early on. He had really strong seasons in '06 and '07 and we didn't start seeing his decline until 2008 when he replaced Barnett at MLB who was injured. Looking back they should have kept Hawk where he was and just inserted Des Bishop into the lineup. Moss also helped Barnett achieve two of the best seasons of his career in '06 and '07. So I could believe that his stock was pretty high following the 2007 season. His stock dropped when they switched to the 34 and he had to help Nick Barnett and AJ Hawk transition to a different position, one which neither was/is suited for. When he's had guys who fit that position, like Des Bishop, he has done well developing them.
