Two things decided this game.

1. With their depleted defense they put relentless pressure on us.  With our depleted secondary, we rushed 4 when it mattered most.

2. Dan Campbell has balls.  4 for 5 on 4th down ultimately won the game.

+hung in there after a crap first half

- the offensive PI penalty that killed our last drive. Get 7 there instead of 3 and we may pull it off
- another defensive meltdown with the game on the line

+ Kenny Clark finally looked like a Pro Bowler.

+ Tucker Kraft

+ Jordan Love looked great for a 1/2 of football

-This team has an average secondary WITH Ja playing. Tonight they ran out of guys and Goff was able to pick them apart

-Refs were horrible. So many missed holding and missed roughing on Jordan was ridiculous.

-MLF was afraid to let Love be Love in the first half. Way too vanilla and conservative.

It’s very rare 1 team can beat the other 3 straight times in a season. I hope the Packers get a rematch with Meathead in the playoffs. And I hope to hell he tries to go for it on 4th over and over in that game.

Except for the Guff pick in their own territory the game was mostly like the last one.  DET O went and got it whenever they wanted it.

Biggest needs for the Packers in 2025 is a revamped cornerback room and they need a premiere pass rusher. 1 of the 2 they can likely get in FA. The others Gute needs to get in the draft.

At some point that horseshoe was to drop out the Lions asses.  Can’t wait for the in the playoffs.  6/7 on 4th down with 4 TDs scores in 2 games against us.  That just insane.

Regression is a mean bitch. She rears her ugly head at the worst time.

I'm not even that upset they lost.

The Packers are going to get another crack at them in the playoffs. Getcha popcorn ready!

1 thing I refuse to do is watch the post game show of all those sycophants fellating the Lions like they won by 4 TD's.

Loves pick 6 before half in game 1 - it was more what the Packers didn't do, than what the Lions did.

Game 2 - A bullshit penalty on Watson to bail out the Lions. Lions are definitely using the 2014 Seahawks method (They can't call it all the time!) That Loon OL was holding a LOT! Wayy more than I've seen in the past and I've watched a LOT of Lion games.

Just another Instant classic the Packers lose. They'll replay it on NFL Network all weekend long. The Packers are the best team and they bring out the best of every team they play. It's been that way for 3 decades now. Y'all should be used to it.

It's ok....their day is coming.....it's going to be magnificent. 🙂

-glaring lack of depth in the defense backfield. Normally would address this through the draft but gute’s draft average with defensive players is below the Mendoza line. Hopefully a couple free agents could be added next season.

+tough ask to beat a good team at home on Thursday night, it was a good game regardless. We will still be in the playoffs, but this loss stings more because we had this game in hand

- "Our" defense still sucks ass and "we" aren't winning anything until it improves.

+ That Detroit coach is going to cost his team a SB again if he didn't already do so last year. His "crazy man" calls are cute, but against a real defense he's going to get fucked. I just pray and hope the Vikings don't benefit from it.

++++Jacobs, Kraft, Clark, Wicks.  Love for about 3 quarters. We pissed off a bunch of viking fans. DL played well. Mini bye to get healed up.

----1st quarter killed us. Our OL was a sieve. Defensive injuries. Allowed too many 4th down conversions. Bad non calls on late hits and hits to Jordan Love's head. Officiating crew had to form a committee to make a call. I really felt like we had the loins where we wanted them, tonight. Damn, I wanted a win!

The better team won. Lions playing with a bunch of backups. I think we are a year or two away yet but at least part of the conversation.

Easily the two toughest positions to fill on defense. Massive challenge.

We already had a stud playmaker CB that Gute decided to trade away. He keeps missing on defensive picks. It might take a better GM to get us over the hump. Feels like we are in limbo. Always felt he was over rated. Starting to appear more and more that that is the case.

Gute drafted and re-signed Jaire Alexander to a premium contract.

Gute drafted and re-signed Rashan Gary to another premium contract.

They were supposed to provide premium CB and Edge play,

The Pack is not likely to be drafting in the top 20 in May.

I'd rather Gute try and sign a promising or establishedCB and Edge rather than drafting the next LVN who might, just might, turn into something several years down the road.

Welp.....they're clearly going to allow those blows to the head.....you know what to do in round 3 Packers.

It seems like the game plan was control the clock, run the ball to keep it away from Detroit. But Lions played that game better than the Packers did. Their last drive was masterful.

Silver lining, Packers proved they could run with the Lions. I don’t fear them but they are a tough out.

Rest up, get healthy and beat the Seahags.

The game was a real statement on what is most important defensively . With numerous D-line and LBs out, playing with reserves in those spots, the lions just run and pass blitz with them, confident that their DBs can hold up, which they pretty much do. Us on the other hand, don't have the talent at CB to do that. Lions D-front just flies off the ball not that concerned about gap protection because their LBs and safeties are flying up to the LOS.

You can only do that so much and eventually going for every 4th down no matter where you are on the field will bite you in the ass.  I stand by my prediction about Campbell that he will eventually cost them a big game

Positives:

The Packers did not back down from this challenge at all and they played their hearts out on the road.  I honestly hope we get a rematch because I like our chances

Offensively once they got going showed that they can score points with anyone

Watson is starting to show that he is the WR we need to stretch the defense down field

Negatives:

Injuries are piling up on defense and the secondary is getting very thin when you need them down the stretch.  I hope JA decides to play soon

That last drive before the FG happened exactly as I thought it would.  Some easy pitch and catch and an easy FG to win it.

The most important takeaway is the Packers hung in there and showed they can play the Lions and honestly very well could have won the game.

The negative is it seems like against good teams the offense takes a while to get going and on the road you have to start fast.

As for other points, yes the officiating was terrible but it’s been terrible for a lot of games and teams and the NFL doesn’t fucking care enough to actually do something about it.

For as much shit as people give him it’s clear to me we really need Jaire Alexander.   I thought they would draft a corner high this past year but it didn’t happen and right now I have major concerns about this secondary.

DET and PHI lean heavily on their 3rd/4th and short success to extend drives and or score and it's their OL that makes all that happen.  When you're good enough to line up and win your 1 on 1's vs almost any DL, you have that luxury.  Doesn't hurt to have a good OC.

GB doesn't have the DL to really challenge that on a consistent basis.  I'm a bit surprised they were able to run blitz a DB on the one stop they made.  Someone on DET may have missed an assignment.

It's whistling past the graveyard a bit in always saying "next year!" but there may actually be reason to believe this D will make noticeable improvements after another offseason of retooling to a 4-3.  It's not "crap" right now and we've all seen them do things this year that we haven't seen in GB in a very long time.  They're good right now but they still lack at least two more playmakers and some depth.
