I don’t think a team can compete for a SB if their #1 picks don’t live up to the draft position.  It’s great that Gute nails it in FA, but without cheap production from your #1s it’s hard to build a championship roster.

How good would this team be if LVN, Gary, and Stokes were living up to their draft position?    You can add Walker to that too, he’s not worthy of a 2nd contract.

It would solve all our problems and we are coming into free cap space soon.

I put Gary in a different category from the others.  He was a legitimate really good player.  I think you can legitimately question signing him to a 2nd contract after he suffered a catastrophic injury, but strictly grading him as a draft pick it was a solid pick.

He was definitely one of the best players on the team on a 2020 team that might have been 2nd best team in the NFL and also a major factor on a 2021 team that was good enough to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

As for some of the other #1 picks, you’re spot on.  Darnell Savage, Van Ness, Walker, Stokes… ugghh.  Jordan Morgan certainly has had a rough start to his career as well. Wyatt has shown flashes but even he looks like nothing more than average and I’m probably being an easy grader.

The Jordan Love pick is turning out just fine though after a rough beginning.
