Because pink is out of the question.
Love's horrible interception was more the product of his abysmal situational awareness than his injury.

I didn't like the call. You've got a QB in the rain, whose mobility is limited, and you call a screen play, which inherently allows rushers to come at the QB, which often makes him move. Not saying that Love isn't at fault for not throwing it into the ground. Looking at the play from an end zone view it was going nowhere even if the pass was completed.
@MichiganPacker2 posted:Jordan Love comes up small. That's the story.
Malik Willis would have given them a better chance to win today, even with how limited he is in the passing game.
I agree. Willis' ability to run would have given us more options, especially in the Red Zone. One of the only insightful things Brady said all game was Love's inability to "adjust to the situation". Examples are him at times putting too much heat on his passes when he doesn't have to. Of course the awful INT today. To me the most egregious example was the shot gun snaps today. Yes, Jenkins fault, but how many have to be short and to the left before you line up a foot more in that direction and a foot closer? The second half of last season he played like he did his Junior season in college .... the first half of last and this season he's played like his senior year.

Drive 4: Love pick - result: (-7) points
Drive 5: end of half
Drive 6:…
It's not just Love that is a problem...it's the entire "dick-steppin" mentality of this offense and ST that is what stacks up to these losses.
The little things add up...be it sloppy penalties, dropped passes, the ball thrown just a little behind a guy, etc.
The bulk of that is on the offense...that's on MLF.
10 HAS to be better...but we've seen great play from him in the past. I am beginning to question if we've already seen the best we ever will from MLF. Once everyone has decided you're a nice guy, there's no flipping on the hard-ass switch.
He is not a serious man...and the stupid shit players consistently do on the field shows that.
Good news: The Packers are going to beat bad teams because they are talented.

Bad news: The Packers are going to lose to good teams because they are undisciplined.
This, right here....every talking head talking about how "great" the Lions are. Lions played disciplined and didn't make mistakes. Packers shot themselves.
I don't even know what to think of this performance.

Penalties and drops have been an issue ALL season. No progress made there. Another huge turnover from the QB. They really shrunk in the rain. Lions weren't even impressive, Packers just made a mess of so many opportunities.
For the dum dum meathead that so many around here think Dan Campbell is, his teams rarely beat themselves with stupid shit. Branch illegal hit was an outlier.
Packers outgained the Loins by 150 yrds. in the wind and rain. The talent is there. So is the mental midget dumbassery that has plagued this team in big games since Frenchie got here. Penalties, fumbles, stupid picks every time. Rarely do the Packers play a "clean game " and lose.
Positives
The defense did hold a very potent offense to 17 points
#8 is a beast running the ball. I am very happy about that signing
I am actually happy its the bye week
Negatives
I am not sure if Lambeau is that much of a home field advantage as it used to be.
Not sure what they can do to get the receivers to catch the ball but they have to address that and soon
Another NFC and NFCN loss.

In my mind they should have given up at least 24, they easily would have scored at the end if they wanted/needed too.
The HFA has been gone for a while
Packers just aren't at the Lions' level and this game showed that. Lions look like a machine that has their eyes set on the Super Bowl. I knew they were playing well but didn't realize how well until yesterday. They just didn't make any mistakes (outside of branch's dirty hit).
Packers offense is still 1-2 years away. Still too many dumb penalties. WR/TE's are dropping too many passes. And Love needs to learn when to give up on a play. That pick 6 was Favre-esque. I'll roll with some of his picks when they're on aggressive downfield throws. But that one was game-killing.
This offense needs to grow up.
@CUPackFan posted:Packers just aren't at the Lions' level and this game showed that.
I disagree.... They are clearly at the Lions level (probably better & more talented) but they are undisciplined that is the difference and that is why they lost.

Common theme from this weekend. Watching the Beta BADgers And Packers get spanked in the elements.
Soft as Charmin sconnies need to build some domes.
Neg: GB will be mediocre as long as the team allows opponents to stay in the game with stupid penalties. All the before the snap penalties are brutal; there were a couple more that could have been called on Tom and on Walker as they mis-time that quick leg kick. The drops; yes, that throw was a bit behind Wicks in the EZ but you have to make that. I feel like Love and the O has taken a step backwards this year and is now spinning its wheels trying to get out a hole of its own making. Love is pressing, whether it's the contract or the injuries. Hopefully, the bye gets them out of it.
Pro: The hit to Melton's head was properly called with the ejection. He definitely targeted Melton's head with his helmet, and I don't care what Brady says. Those are the hits that can mess someone up for a very long time.
Hopeful: it's the bye. Disappointing: the team isn't playing up to its capability.
I think Detroit is clearly the superior team. A dome team playing on the road in conditions that favored GB and they won pretty easily. That said we made it too easy for them. Quay continues to disappoint as does Wicks. Two disturbing patterns are MLF consistently coming up small in big games and Loves idiotic decision making. As others have stated Love has been very lucky and should have had more pics over the course of the season.
Jacob’s was outstanding. The D played well enough to win. Morgan seemed to hold up well at LG in his first start and the offense moved the ball well.

A dome team came into Lambeau and kicked the Packers ass in "the elements."
Except that they really didn't kick the Packers ass. Most games come down to a few plays, but many times it's a big play on 1st down where if that play didn't work there was still an entire drive that could still turn out positively.
Yesterday, there were 3 plays that resulted in 7 points each. The pick-six, and the Lions scoring two TDs on 4th down plays. Those are as high leverage as you can get. If they go the other way, the Lions score 3 points the entire game. The Lions executed. The Packers didn't. This wasn't like watching Wisconsin play Alabama where one team was clearly better in every aspect.

For every drop, that's 50 on the Juggs machine.
Going all the way back to the Holmgren years and up through MM, I don't recall a team having this many issues with drops. There have been higher profile individuals on those teams that went through spells but it was never team wide. And they never had problems with the weather compared to the visiting team until more recently.
The pick-six was the exact same call the Packers couldn't hit vs. the Texans in the 2 minute (Reed dropped it).

They get middle-field closed again, big over route and he's open if Jordan Love has time to get him the ball. pic.twitter.com/vs9btUwIGH
Pick was Love improvising when the protection broke down.
Gute needs to be working the phones right now to get Crosby from the Raiders. They need pass rush AND some kick-ass, nasty leadership on that Defense. Guys like Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary and Quay Walker just aren't bringing it. If they can't get a deal done for Crosby, and Detroit does...game over.
That pick six from Love reminded me of the pathetic INT Favre threw from his knees to the Lions early in his career.
what is with Christian Watson tracking the ball. On the long pass, he has the DB beaten, pass looked like it was going to hit him in stride and Watson stops his route and it goes over his head. As big a step as the Wrs took last year, they have all taken a step back this year. Watson, Melton, Wicks, and even Reed at times.
Considering that and all the drops, and the youth, could this group benefit from a vet #2WR to help the development process and bring some calm and consistency to the room? Even if not this year, this offseason.
I would guess 99% of the time that any position group on a team is going to have 'elder' vets and 1-2yr players mixed in. When we think about young players developing, it's not just through their number of snaps but being surrounded by guys who have successfully done the job before. I can't think of a precedent where a group had as much youth as this WR/TE crew. All they have are coaches who don't take snaps and never had. There is pedagogy and then there is all the insider stuff that vets pick up along the way. Not just how to attack a particular D or DB, but how to practice, study film and prepare through a long grueling season.
If I had to gauge my disappointment between how bad the Packers looked yesterday and my disappointment in the loud obnoxious “fire LaFleur,” “Jordan Love is Daniel Jones,” “The Packers are frauds,” “When can we get out of Love’s contract,” “Malik Willis is better” crowd, I’m far…

I think Brady called it on that one: The gusting winds got a hold of the ball. Watson has not had problems tracking the ball this year or with drops.
The rest of the drops were devastating and along with the penalties probably were the difference in the game even without the pick 6. But I don't think Reed, Kraft or Doubs are chronic problems.
I can't help but think the timing with JL may have been slightly off after him not practicing last week. Just enough to throw him and the receivers off.
An argument could be made ALL of the problems on offense could stem from Love being less than 100% yesterday: He can't escape pressure leads to the pick 6; linemen holding because they know he can't escape; timing with the receivers and timing with the whole offense causing all the false starts after practicing with Willis all week. Just an entire offensive breakdown from a different QB running the offense.
Hindsight is 20/20 but Willis should have started yesterday. An immobile QB is not going to beat a team like the Lions.

A couple weeks ago there were rumor that Gute was in talks with CLE for both Craig Newsome II AND Miles Garrett.
Neither of these three seem like a mid-season move this organization would make. When is the last time Gute traded for a starter mid year?

I was perplexed when I saw this as well. If Watson stays in stride, that ball hits him perfectly and he's off to the races. It looked like he tried to high-point it rather than continue running his pattern. From the tv view, it didn't look like the ball changed trajectory or anything.

Boy no kidding. Lots of teams would like to be 6-3 right now. Yeah, it was a sloppy and lackluster game and there’s a lot to correct. But the personnel on this team are still essential the same as the squad that mauled the Lions on Thanksgiving last year and the Cowgirls in the playoffs. The coaches need to let everyone know the penalties and INT’s are unacceptable and must stop, and they need to start playing to their potential. And the coaching staff needs a better game plan, too, but we know they are capable of doing it.
As miserable as that game was, only 4 teams in the NFC have a better record, and 2 of those 4 teams have only a half-game on the Pack. We can and must play better down the stretch. (Statistics provided by Steve Kornacki).

Agreed. That game was winnable with even average QB play. Love blew it yesterday….He certainly wasn’t alone, there were lots of mistakes made, but he’s the one with the biggest paycheck.
I’m not saying that Willis is anywhere near as talented as Love, but starting Willis would have at the very least meant Jacobs gets more touches. That alone could have made the difference. And if Willis was able to continue playing at the level he played early in the season, then there wouldn’t have been any bonehead pic-6s. Plus the dude can run.
