Along with SFO and GBP, SEA has home games vs ARI, DEN, NYG, DAL. All worthy of the Thursday KO game. I think SFO is off the list though since they are opening a new stadium and likely would want to open the year at their new home. The Packers are my guess.

Why not play Denver again?

Packers will probably have 7 or 8 starters on IR by opening day so they might not be an interesting match up for the SB Champs.

NFL won't waste that game on a Monday nighter.  And I'm sure FOX will protect that from being a Sunday Night game too, especially if it a flex game late in the season. One of the Whiners/Hags game will be a week 17 game for sure.

If I am not mistaken we scored 12 there the last time. 2 field goals and a 1 yr romp by the immortal Ced Benson.  Iwould say we will need a bit more out of the O next time, that and the same or better from the D. I think their O is quite a bit better now and allowing only 7 will not happen again.

FOX can not protect the game until the schelude comes out. I have a feeling it will be a Sunday night game right away, if it is not the opening game on Thursday

It will be really interesting to see how well Petey can keep Seattle on top.  If there is one team in the NFL that might remind me of the 85 Bears, it is the Seahawks.  Remember how big Chicago flopped in 86, well, we could Seattle do its best to see that scene repeated in 2014.

This will be interesting. The Giants played the Patriots in '08 season, the only regular season SB rematch of the Thursday Night Kickoff Game era. They didn't open with the Pats, so we'll see if the league wants this to be the first SB rematch to open on a Thursday night.

There was speculation that the NFL wouldn't do that to the Broncos because it was such a blowout.  I can kind of agree.  Not sure average fans will be clamoring to see that game again to start the season.

I hope it's us, but I bet it ends up being the Cowboys.  The NFL doesn't want to kick off the season reminding everyone what an embarrassing mess they made with the replacement refs.  They want sunshine and puppy dogs and Jerry Jones loves being the center of attention.

Indeed and I don't think sending turnover and choke-prone Romo to Seattle is a good idea either. NFL needs a competitive game to kick- off their season and there's only one team available that can provide that...and they wear Green & Gold

I agree with Titm, as sweet as it would be to open the season against the Hags.  I think part of the story line in that game would be about the last time GB went to Sea. You have to assume the NFL wants no part of that, when they are trying to "celebrate" the SB champs.

Because the Niners have a new stadium they most-likely want to show off on opening weekend.

Niners have opened at home vs. AZ before. I think that's a possibility

Yeah, that does sound right. I found some article, but it must have been about Super Bowls that were actually rematches from earlier in the year.

And now CBS will get 8 of the Thursday night games, this 1st 8 games of the new season and 2 Saturday games late in the season. The other 7 Thursday games will remain on NFL Network.  Jim Nance & Phil Sims will be the announce team on CBS. That is the worst news of all, I can't stand that smarmy Sims.
