Sack on the first play
Starks - The new mancrush. Much better story than Vick IMBO.
2nd Quarter playcalling was some of MM's finest. It was hard-nosed deep-throat plays to exhaust the D. It's like how the Giants played the Patriots in the Super Bowl
More rushing yards than Philly. Over 100 for the day.
Bulaga was decent.
Rodgers won a big one.
Knocked out the Golden Boy and the worst fans in the NFL.
We are going much farther than I dreamed into this postseason.

-
Underwood kicking the ball on the first punt
Refs trying to make sure Vick stayed as healthy as possible. (Blowing the whistle the moment Matthews touched him, helping him up after a knockdown. Reminded me of Favre last year...ugh)
That loudmouth in the stands the mic kept picking up!!
Jones dropping that TD pass!! Mad
3rd quarter fumble
Plays given up over the middle. Not acceptable.

+ This is easily the best defense the Pack has had since '96. I was nervous, and yet I thought they would find a way to make the key stop in the end.

- Wish we could have avoided going to Atlanta for 1 more week. If the Pack doesn't win the NFC, Atlanta will.
+ MM has his team ready for the game and had good schemes in all phases.

- MM game management at the end. They badly needed a playaction pass on 1st or 2nd down. His confidence in the rushing offense to close out the game was misplaced.
Hats off to the Packers today. They played a very good all-around game. Like Hungry, I can't think of a negative except for the dropped passes. Those could have been potentially killer. Also, hold on to the ball boys... ATL needs a loss at home!

End of first half clock management
2nd half conservative play calling (don't take your foot off the gas MM!)

Only gripes I have with MM's playcalling today was at the end of the first half (still had a time-out), but no biggie; and the Kuhn run on 3rd and 1 in the fourth. Other than that his commitment to the run was astonishing.

Dom's defensive calls were amazing. I don't think I've ever seen so many different looks in a game. The defense's discipline was fantastic.
+Playcalling by MM. A handful of bad calls, but overall a very solid game. Definitely better than Andy Reid. Loved the run/pass ratio.
+Starks running behind Kuhn and Johnson.
+Rodgers. If his WR's played a better game, he has 250 yds and 4 TD's.
+Tramon Williams had a great game before the pick. That pick was huge.
+Offensive line. 2 sacks, 1 penalty and 138 yards rushing on the road in the playoffs ain't too bad.
+Contain on Vick. Only 8 carries for 33 yards.
+Special teams. That turnover on that punt was BS (IMO) but overall no back breakers.

-End of the first half. MM should have let the offense go for another score.
-Passes over the middle. Guys were way too open.
-Cutback lanes on defense. McCoy was able to get way too many yards reversing the field.
-Pressure. Very inconsistent. I almost wanted them to not blitz and sit back in coverage.
-Wide receivers. Only 7 receptions from those guys. Jones, Jennings and Driver all had drops. Nelson gave a poor effort on his one deep pass. This is becoming the weakness of this team. They need to show up in Atlanta if they have any chance at winning.
+ defense
+ Starks
+ Rodgers - no INT's, should have been 4 TD's
+ ST's!!!
+ clean football esp. o-line (few penalties)

- Jones and other missed catches (well, maybe only Driver as well)
- putting the ball on the ground (fumbles)
- too conservative offensively late in the game - gotta play action on 1st or 2nd at least once

Late in the game, was that Starks 12 yard run huge.

It is such an advantage having such strong corners. Tramon INT and recall, Shields defense on that long pass attempt. From the Eagle perspective, it's just not going to be easy. One of the Eagles TD's started ~25 yard line so only one long TD drive all game.

I wondered if that was the plan late... rush 3 - 4 and play coverage. Best way to contain Vick is to not force him to run.
+Feeling an unexpected sense of calm at the start of Philly's last drive. Love this D.

If you would have said the Packers would win this game running the football and playing coverage rather than pressure, I'd have laughed.

Starks can be huge, but I don't want them to stray too far from their bread and butter.
It hasn't been mentioned yet, but Sam Shields played great. Breaking up bomb to Jackson, saving open-field tackle against Vick, play so solid it allows Woody to crowd the line. What a find this kid has been.
Lots of mention of a weak middle here.

I wonder wether or not that was something Capers was willing to give up in order to keep Vick in the pocket and maintaining contain lanes on him.

Along with someone else I did not care for the called to run Kuhn off tackle on the 3rd and 1, I thought a better call would have been Starks between guard and tackle, letting the line fire off straight ahead and lead blocking by Kuhn.
+++ Brandon Jackson

I thought one of the plays of the game was the TD by Jackson. Not only was it 2nd and 16 after a holding penalty, and not only did the Eagles just score in 2 plays after a Packer fumble...but BJack caught the ball and almost stopped, allowing the blockers to get out in front of him. I thought that was just an absolute great poece of running and an even better job of allowing the play to develop.
+ We won a playoff game on the road against a very tough team.
We will never hear the words "Aaron Rodgers can't win a big game". He has more TD passes in his first 2 playoff starts than any QB in history (7)
James Starks. Powerful, explosive, shifty. Adds a whole other dimension to the offense.
Brandon Jackson. Does a hell of a job with the screen pass, beautiful TD catch and run!
Donald Driver. Missed one sliding catch, but made some really big catches. The old man still has it.
Bishop, Matthews, Tramon Williams, hell, the entire defense. Vick expected the Packers to blitz him big time starting the game. Dom threw him for a loop. Vick never looked comfortable back there.
Did I mention we won a playoff game on the road against a very tough team?
Offensive line. Pretty damned good game overall.
Mike McCarthy did a great job of getting his team ready for the game, and I was impressed that he stayed committed to the running game. Great offensive balance today!
Aaron Rodgers. Efficient, efficient, efficient!
No matter what happens next week, we won a playoff game on the road against a very tough team!!!!!!!! We have 14 guys on the IR. 14!! And we we're 11-6. Wow!!!! I am so friggin' happy!!!!!!

A few more of these are called for.

- Can't really get too negative about anything in such a huge win, but a few things we need to improve upon, or just do differently, if we want to beat Atlanta...
Need to do a better job of holding onto the ball. 4 fumbles, lost two today, and a James Jones drop of a sure TD pass. That's gotta stop. Goes without saying, I know, but I'm on a roll.
I wish Mike had taken a shot at the endzone at the end of the first half. Outside of Aaron's getting hit and a possible fumble, a pass into the endzone will be incomplete, a touchdown, an interception, or pass interference. PI gives us the ball at the 1. An incompletion doesn't hurt us. a TD is a huge boost going into the locker room.
Only other thing, I think that Mike got a little conservative in the 4th quarter. Twice when we needed to move the ball downfield, and eat some clock, he took the ball out of Aaron's hands.
I think we all have to be pretty much done with James Jones. Big time players make big time plays in the biggest games. James Jones wilts in the biggest moments. Can't have that.

Starks was excellent, and I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but he still left some yards on the field. I think he's still playing a little tentative- and that's OK. It'll get better with more experience. But Grant is still faster, and can break to the open field better at this point.

Have to admit I was a little disappointed with McCarthy's play selection on the 4 minute possession. A little too conservative for a team that wants to win.

But for the Packers to have held this team down the way they did? I think Akers' misses were just karma- recompence for their SB trip that should have been ours.

Rodgers was excellent- and he was a victim of the dropsies.

I think McCarthy put together a very good gameplan and they executed it very well. No big plays, they were stout in the red zone which was EXACTLY the way to defeat this team. If the players executed a little better, this game would not have come down to the last possession. Kudos to McCarthy and his staff for havign the team ready to win.
+ We may finally have a running back that isn't a fullback or a 3rd down guy
+ Road playoff win, hard to beat a team twice in one year
+ Punt coverage was way better
+ D did what it had to

- Did Driver come back after going out? He is the only guy that fights for the ball and wants to catch it.

- Is Jones really our third best option? If so our receivers are not all that.
- Jones
- Jones
- no threat for any type of return on punts or kickoffs. 5 yards and a cloud of dust.
They won the game!!!!!!!!

-Too many Jones haters. He made a play and they scored a TD. He dropped a pass the same almost he same as Jennings vs detroit except it wasn't an interception.

-McCarthy got too excited about the run game and got away from running the offense, which is passing the ball.

GB just won a playoff game on the road and you have more negatives than positives? Not to mention your first "positive" is just a "negative" in disguise.

Ridiculous.
