Suh has been a no-show and a me-1st douche there. Scanning the dial this AM and stopped for a minute when I heard Golic defending Suh for being used wrongly. I always thought Suh looked like one of those guys who could dominate in any scheme.

Ross tried to hire Gruden. Then Harbaugh. Then Fischer. While he had a coach.

That dumbass wasted so much time and effort on guy's that were never going to work for him that he whiffed on coaches like Quinn and Bowles.

Miami will never change as long as Stephen Ross has his hands on anything that takes place there.

Yup, Philbin got the Miami job because of AR. And while Philbin stayed above the Incognito mess, you have to wonder how much Philbin knows about what's going on in the locker room, especially when we read Suh is freelancing and not following the playcalling.

Who exactly is running the Dolphin pod?

No, GD, no. How Philbin has done in Miami makes me wonder "Was our success due to MM as playcaller and not Philbin as OC?" And of course, AR's play.

I think Philbin goes back to being an OC, but not in GB.

Raiders, Redskins, Browns, Dolphins......all dysfunctional franchises that have no stability.  I know that a head coaching job in the NFL is hard to come by, but you have to wonder if a first year coach taking one of those jobs is a good career choice.  Is it better to take the shot knowing you’re set up to fail, which likely ends your head coaching career?  Or is it better to wait until a real head coaching job opens up?

It absolutely was MM.  Philbin was "advisor/consultant" as a OC.  The only thing that came out of his tenure as OC was a sounding board for MM's offense.  Philbin got a HC job on MM's offense.  Teams like the Dolphins aren't good or smart enough to know the difference.

If Philbin lands another OC job it will be with the Redskins or some other dreg.  I've never been impressed with the guy since his brilliant hey day with Campen and the Oline coaching.

that is my belief too.  by firing Philbin today they have done NOTHING to improve the team this season.  it's a reactionary move to try to promote the view that Ross is in control. he is, but he don't know what he's doing.

Fan desires:

Jim Schwartz makes way too much sense. Not only can the guy run a defense, he's also familiar with Suh, and in the same breath we protect our investment in Suh. Even without Suh here, I would do backflips if we added Schwartz to this staff.

Add strategist. McCarthy often commented about how Philbin was responsible for the 3rd down game plan.

Philbin's best work was as an OL coach.

I was joking, I don't expect to see Philbin back in GB. Our staff is pretty full and talented...heck we have two OC's! If he came back to GB it would have to be as a position coach, but then who do you bump? Philbin will catch on somewhere, probably back at Iowa.

I never got the sense that Philbin was any sort of "offensive mastermind", I always thought he was meant as more of an "OL/running game coordinator" while McCarthy handled the QBs and passing game. I feel like I remember someone, maybe Rodgers or McCarthy, commenting about his level of organization and how well he ran the offensive meetings.

From all accounts, Philbin is a great guy, and it sucks when bad things happen to good people.  BUT.....

If some of the reports that have come out are true, like this one....

then I'm sure he's happy to get out of that mess!

Holy crap PackerRuss, that is BAD! What a **** storm. Philbin allowed some crazy stuff to take place in his tenure there. I question his judgement if he's asking PS players to take it easy on Tannehill. Pretty stupid.

That franchise will be buried for a decade from the ill fated signing of one player. They are completely ****ed, by their own doing.

Philbin is like that teacher we all had at one time or another: really nice guy, no clue how to discipline and run a tight ship. I asked before who was leading the Dolphin pod, but now we know: no one. When you don't have a strong leader at the top, the bottom-feeders will rise up to take over.

Or was that just me?

Everyone had at least one shifty teacher. Mine was Mr. Jones in the 9th grade. Algebra.

He hated women. He had a nasty temper but not enough to throw off his Nambla vibe.

He used to lock his desk and prowl walk the hallways during class. He'd be gone for 15 minutes at a time.

We always tried to break into his desk during his expeditions so we could turn in his Cub Scout Exposed magazines to the principle. We knew they were in there.

My history teachers hated me but that's only because they didn't know any history other than what they were reading out of the text book.

I once received a spite B+ grade and my buddy got an A even though he copied my ****.

@MarkTauscher65: Joe Philbin is a fine coach, but an even better man. He is the type of coach I would love for my kids to learn from

From this, it sounds like Philbin should join Sherman's high school staff.

Hey, nothing wrong with coaching at the high school level. I thought about using the    sign, and then thought that maybe Philbin would make a good high school role model. High school boys need good male role models, and it's a time in life when maybe someone like a coach has a last chance to change a kid's life. So, my comment was made half in jest, half in not.

I'm disappointed for Philben. Would've liked to see him succeed there, but I can't help but to feel that Steven Ross is Jerruh Jones two facelifts ago.

I don't know if he couldn't see this when he interviewed, or maybe didn't want  to. Either way, it was a no-win proposition in my eyes.

I think the writing was on the wall with the Tannehill and Suh deals, because they've fubar'd their cap for the foreseeable future. To go on top of no depth to develop, and a dearth of talent at the skill positions.
