****!!!!!!

Ryan's awful pick.

Offensive holding on the last drive stopped the clock.

Jones drop on 3rd down stopped the clock.

Atlanta playing a prevent allowing Detroit to go 50 yards in 2 plays in 25 seconds.

Mike Smith inexcusably calling a TO with 25 seconds left.

Defensive holding stops the clock and gives Detroit 5 free yards.

It took a Herculean effort by Atlanta to give that game away. And even that wasn't enough. It took a Detroit play clock fail to pull that one out.

Packers should have the division sewn up by week #17

Week #17 will be a "pre-season" game & completely unnecessary like a lot of week #17 games

Yes. Nobody should overlook that bit of stupidity.

Passing to Jones on 3d down might have been worse.  Run the ball, pin them deep with the punt, take 40 seconds off the clock.  You can always take the delay of game to get five more yards to punt.

This holding call is what killed them. From the CBS game thread

3-9-ATL30
(:24) J.Bell left guard to ATL 29 for 1 yard (J.Bartu). PENALTY on ATL-P.Soliai, Defensive Holding, 5 yards, enforced at ATL 29.

When I saw Detroit running and 3rd and 9 with NO TIMEOUTS I couldn't believe it.  They burned their last TO the first play after the 2:00 warning.  I suppose they had time to rush the FG unit on the field, but that 3rd down rush ended with :17 left to go.  Would have taken an incredible job by the Det special teams to get set up for that kick.  That holding called saved Detroit big time.
