Turang is still only 24 years old. He is a gold-glove level second baseman and has stolen 40 bases in 46 attempts so far this year. Other than an absolutely pathetic month of July (15 for 89 with 2 extra base hits and an OPS of 412), he's been playable. His August wasn't great, but a 612 OPS with his glove and speed still allows him to have some value.

Another 6:40 CT start for Wednesday's game. ESPN does not show national TV coverage.

ESPN gives the Crew a 59.8% chance of winning.

Looks like 2 pretty evenly matched pitchers today, with Colin Rea on the mound for Milwaukee:

With Helsley going 2 innings last night, he should be unavailable tonight and that's a huge advantage for the Brewers if they can keep this close or get ahead.

I'm beginning to wonder why he is on the team.

He made a game-saving play at first base last week. The Brewers value defense over almost everything else, but Bauers hitting third is not something that should ever happen.

He's a veteran who has a 209 career batting average, strikes out in a third of his career at-bats (496 out of 1477).

They have to hit him third because if they sit Hoskins and Contreras, they have to have someone else in the lineup to give them some power other than Adames and Chourio.

3 seed here they come.

They just don't have enough offense, and that was obvious before the trade deadline and especially after Yelich went down.

I love cheering for this team, but I don't think anyone really considers them a real threat to get to the World Series. I'd love to be wrong, but they just aren't going to score enough runs against good teams often enough in a 7 game series.

We as fans had better get used to this.   Smart managers will keep doing this.

It comes down to how Murphy structures the batting order. They have three guys that other teams will make sure don't beat them in a playoff games - Chourio, Contreras, and Adames.

Hoskins is who ended up hitting behind Chourio when they walked him in extra innings. Hoskins is now basically Rob Deer or Eric Thames at this point in his career. Since July 1st, he is 32 for 175 with 12 home runs and has struck out 59 times and walked/HBP 19 times. So, over half the time he either homers, strikes out, or walks.

The problem they have is that don't have any other power hitters. Losing Yelich was huge, but even if they had another guy like Hoskins that was a threat to go deep on any at-bat it would make a huge difference. There three main bench guys are Monasterio, Bauers, and Perkins. They get no power from their outfielders other than Chourio and limited power from the third baseman (Ortiz). On their active roster, if you take out Chourio the other guys that play outfield (Frelick, Mitchell, and Perkins) have 12 home runs in over 1000 at bats. Their 3rd baseman (Ortiz) has 10 home runs. The fact that Adames hit so many home runs at the SS position makes up for some of this, but most teams get their power from the corner infield positions and at least two of their outfielders.
