Lots of great chatter, let's do some mindless stuff.

What's your favorite?  Worst?  Chain?  Frozen?

My two favorite pizza quotes:

Pizza is like sex, when it's good, it's great, when's it's bad, it's great.

Pizza is like sex, I could have it everyday.

Non chain:  Marco's in GB, Ian's in Madison,  Johnny's, Sammy's, Northern Tap and Pizza Del Re in Eau Claire.

Chain:  Rocky's

Frozen:  Tombstone, Brewhaus

Shoot, now I'm hungry!

Frozen is Jack's pizza when they are 5 for $10.  To my wife's chagrin I maintain an old bar pizza oven on the counter just for those.  1 pie is a serving.

Used to love Trade Winds pizza, anyone remember those?

Chain pizza is typically shit.  I'll eat it because it is pizza. \

Not a fan of New York style because the sauce is too sweet.  I'll still eat it.

Huge fan of INSERT LOCAL PIZZA PLACE.

I love making pizza.  Detroit style is fun to make in the winter, but mostly I make pies on the webber in the summer.

In Wisconsin?  Heinies Pizza in Horicon is in an old brothel, doesn't get better than that.

Heinies was in Minnesota Junction, still is?

I went to school with some of the young Heinies....

Not a fan of Chicago style but definitely dig Detroit style.

The only chain I like is Papa Murphys (not fuckstick, sugar sweet sauce Papa Johns).  Davanni's is decent but they're a local "chain" I guess.

If you're ever in the Twin Cities south metro I recommend Ole Piper Inn.  Top notch pizza and grub.

You must have had pizza at Captain Jacks Henry.    It was on Hyw 12 in Minny near Hudson before I 94 was completed.

Also Steve's Pizza in River Falls.  Actually doesn't every college town have a Steve's Pizza?

Frozen: Portesi Original with the crust around the edge. I get them anytime I come back to Wisconsin. They must put crack in that crust.

Take out: Plainfield Bowling Alley pizza in Plainfield, WI and Two Lakes pizza in Almond WI. Simply the best to me.

I grew up 8 miles from Two Lakes. It's still the best pizza I've ever had, and I lived in Boston, DC, and traveled a lot.  My family makes fun of me for saying it, but I rank all food relative to Two Lakes pizza.  Portesi's and Jagielo's (who owned Two Lakes) are related, I believe.

Totally... I alternate between Jack’s and Tombstone, but when Jack’s is 3/$9 or 5/$10, all day.

And hell yeah I got a pizza oven. I think that’s a part of WI heritage right there...

Funny story - many years ago I got a summer job at Jacks working third shift.  This was before Nestle acquired them and basically turned it into a mass production outfit.   Anyways, one of my jobs was to feed the big pepperoni sticks into a machine to slice it up before applying it to the round.    Good times.

If on sale, I go for Orvs and basically take everything off it and load up with my own ingredients.  The sauce and crust are excellent.

If I want to splurge, I go for the Brew Pup Lozzsa Mottsa.  It’s a little pricey,  but pound for pound the best frozen pizza on the market if you like cheese and toppings and a decent sauce.

Forgot Ted's in Menomonie.

Good Old Teds. I went to Stout back in the day (early 90's) and a couple buddies wanted to go to Teds and I was broke so they said no prob that they would cover the price (they had been drinking). So we all go into Teds and have a bunch of pizza. Then the 2 of them say they have to use the restroom and leave the building. So there I am with no cash sitting at the table and I leave too. The cops and a delivery guy in a little bug car end up chasing us down outside in a snowstorm in the bitter cold. We all got removal of property tickets but mine was dropped after the boys admitted that they kinda set me up LOL. Luigis in River Falls is pretty darn good and I do like Carbones (although it can be too GREEZY at times).

For frozen  it's Jack's and Heggies.

Favorite. I am a big fan of Chicago style pizza like Giardano's.  But I am not picky as long as there is something on the pizza.  I tell everyone to man up and make it a deluxe

Worst?  That's an easy one for me.  Thin crust pizza. For some strange reason everyone in the hell hole of ohio where I live likes cracker thin crust.

The ultimate worst is cheese only pizza.  I married in to a family that will only eat cheese pizza.  It is torture to me because I am a deluxe pizza guy.

Chain pizza would be Papa John's or Pizza hut

To expand on what is the worst.  Sorry no pineapple on pizza or olives of any sort.

For frozen, if you haven't tried Connie's, give it a whirl. I was surprised how good it was.

Now let's get controversial. Who the Hell does pineapple?!

There's a chain in Milwaukee called Pizza Man. Used to be on the east side with a sign that was shaped...well, like an "egg plant" emoji.   Then a terrible fire happened, they rebuilt in another location, was never the same.

Anyway, to try to revive the joint, they did a lunch buffet with like 3-5  different pizzas to try by the slice. Really bomb ass idea for a buffet. One of them was a pepperoni, pineapple and cream cheese. I hate admitting it...I liked it. Now, I wouldn't do a whole damn pizza with that but a slice wasn't as bad as I figured. Yep, I am weird.

Captain Jacks I remember but not sure I ever went there.  Yes, Steve's Pizza, totally forgot about.  That was decent gut filler.  Not sure I'd rave about it.

I think you can put anything you like on a pizza.  I love to make a sauce less, thin crust pizza with thinly sliced apples, cheddar cheese, carnalized onions and bacon.  Pineapple, bacon and jalapeno is delicious.   A white pizza with whipped heavy cream, fontina and mushrooms is a family favorite.

I forgot to mention Casey's pizza.  The dough is doughy and bland.  The sauce is odd, a little spicy, but odd.  Cheese is boring cheese and super thick.

I will eat it weekly.  I feel like I consumed a bowling ball when finished, but I will dive right back in a couple days later.

They make a bacon cheeseburger pizza where the sauce is half ketchup, half mustard.  Get it with extra pickles

I don't recall eating here very often, but Bill's Pizza in Stevens Point is also quite popular with a lot of my friends still in the area.  Never tried Two Lakes in Almond - now that my family has moved away from Point I don't get that way any more.  When I was in high school my friend's family started a short-lived pizzeria in Park Ridge called "CATS Pizza", ate a lot of their pie in those years.

In my podunk rural town of Iowa the best option is HyVee's Take and Bake pizza.  Second best goes to Casey's (Gas Station).  Of course there is Pizza Ranch and Pizza Hut, who are sort of like the ugly sisters still at the bar after last call.
