All the negativity toward the defense that I just don’t get? Goff three for 174 yards and was sacked 4 times. The Rams rushes for less than 100 yards. Sean Mcvey has been called an offensive genius. The defense played really well today. Very few missed tackles.

It was the case again today that the D looks like it's playing poorly, and at the end of the game you look up and they gave up 18 points. Were they that awful on the td drive before halftime? Or were they instructed to keep everything in front of them? The drive looked easy for LA because Goff and McVay took the easy stuff and hit a couple nice passing plays.

We know the unit isn't great, but there's also been plenty of occasions that the vaunted offense could have helped them out and didn't. Complementary football goes a long way. They have their warts, but you can also see a big difference when Pettine releases the hounds. They got really good pressure today, as they have the past month or so. They aren't built to play from behind or a tie game, but they got it done down the stretch and preserved the lead. If this was a shitty performance like some are saying, what kind of grade should the Rams defense get?

+++ MLF had them ready to play. While it looked a little like they had an extra week off at times with the timing not being super crisp and the D not being as lock-down as it has been recently until in the second half, MLF had them ready to go. And when they ask MLF about his success, he points immediately to the team. He consistently gives credit first to the team. While most coaches do, it seems that MLF actually means it. What a culture change.

---- It took a bit of time for the D to lock in and get to Goff. They let him look like a world-beater in the first half. I don't know if it was ABM's calls or execution, but it was a bit worrisome. Much better the second half. STs give me heartburn. When we went up by two TDs in the second half and then gave up another big return, I thought, Here we go again.

Overall, who's complaining? The NFCC is in Lambeau!

Offense, despite the score looked a little rusty in the passing game.  Does AR have a little playoff yips?  What are his post season stats vs reg season?  Lazard is clearly still limited by the core thing.  He can't extend his arms away from his body=earlier "drop".  AJ is amazing.  JW with some grown ass man runs.  Hope Big Dillon is OK.

Biggest problem today for the D was the up tempo stuff LA ran.  It looked like their 2:00 offense.  Not just up tempo but most throws were to the sideline as if they were working the clock.  It had success and Pettine now has the opportunity to learn from it because that was the first strategy I've seen really work against this D in over a month. Better get his shit ready for a much better O next weekend.

Fans.  A light at the end of the tunnel?

A lot of positives especially how well the OL and RBs played and as I said during the game they played with an attitude and an edge.   They dominated the Rams DL basically the entire game.

As for negatives, concerns again for STs and hopefully Mason C will be OK.  Defensively, they did some good things late in the game but Pettine’s scheming most of the game allowed a really undermanned Rams team to hang around.     No more 7-8 yard cushions on WRs and no more goddamn 3 man rushes please.

exactly!  If our Defense allows 18 points the next 2 games..I'll take it....

LA had a broken thumb middling QB without their top receiver and an offense that isn't known for lighting it up.  Our D did their job but expecting them to do the same vs TB or NO is unrealistic.

I think AR was getting anxious and impatient with LA pass D when he was trying to force those throws at the end of the half.  He self corrected that urge coming back out of the locker room.

I'm giving AR a pass on the throws at the end of the 1st half.  While a pick would have cost the team 3 points a TD would have been a knockout blow being the Packers also got the ball to start the 2nd half.    If it had been the middle of the 1st quarter   would have never made those passes.

Those 2 passes in the end zone were risk, reward jobs.  High risk, high reward. I had no problem with these two efforts.

The pass a play or so earlier where Adams was open with nothing in front of him was a bad pass.  He connects there and the 2 others don't happen.

I think that's spot on.  Sounds more AR-like than my guess.

The Packers offense was dominant and the 32 points was on the low end of what they should have scored with that production. I know we were all nervous, but a neutral person watching that game probably never felt that the Rams were going to win. Pettine's scheme did what is designed to do - don't give up big plays and assume that the opposing offense will make a mistake or you will get a sack or a pass break-up at some point to stall enough drives to win.

The biggest negative was, of course, special teams. If the Packers simply make their XPs, the closest the game ever gets is 27-17. The other negative was Dillon putting the ball on the ground. In retrospect, the only way the Rams were going to win was to keep it close enough that a turnover might allow them to steal a win. The special teams kept it a one-score game and the Dillon fumble was what they were waiting for. Luckily for the Packers, it squirted directly back to Rodgers who gained a yard on the recovery and return. If that shoots backwards and to the side, it's a potential game-tying return. Other than the XP (and some other special teams issues in the return game) and that fumble, the Packers only mistakes were a handful of missed throws and drops in a cold-weather game. The defense made no real mistakes. The Rams took what Pettine game them and no one blew any coverages or freelanced themselves out of the game.

There was actually a S coming over so it’s unlikely Adam houses that and it might be what led to the pass being more outside than Adams expected.

I do see the defense playing to keep everything in front, esp 20, it's as though he gets a feeling about getting burned, so he has the option to play off - bigger problem is have is those dam stunts or whatever the f they are when the big heavy drops into coverage, 95,94 and 91 all did it again, it does NOT work, so stop it.  they are standing around watching the play, just send them on a rush instead jeez, its so painful.

I will say, there are definitely players getting into a groove, 52, 51, 55, 23, 26, 31, there are alot of playmakers here, but guys like sullivan and king keep getting the attention and drawing the plays because 23 is locking guys up.  The d will keep giving us heartburn, but if they don't 'lose' us a game, that is ok with me.

the st otoh...they have a lot of issues there, and I fear before we are done, they could very well lose us a game.

AR is playing out of his mind and MLF is giving him a great script to work off of.  key catches, lazard, mvs, 85 all clutch down conversions and that is a big deal.

there's a different feeling here, the buzz, I like it, it's confidence and swagger...we could go win the big one...

I think as Packer fans we're just expecting bad defense as the offense continues to roll -- it's been that way since Lynn Dickey in the 80's. The mid-90's the exception with Butler & White.

If they continue holding opponents under 20, I like the Pack's chances!

neg- Rodgers missing the TD on the first drive, Lazard alligator arms, Dillon putting the ball on the deck, Opie's panic with the ball in his hands, special teams

Neg- I am one picky mofo, that game was a masterpiece on offence and defense and a pleasure to watch.

+ I really hope people understand what the offense just did to the #1 defense in the NFL. That defense is no joke but guess what....neither is the Packer offense.

ST's -- FFS just don't lose the game. Am I asking too much?!?!

Def -- good job vs. an average offense. We're going to need a little more out of you. Like a couple takeaways in the next game.

Pos & Neg -- The Rams successful 2-pt conversion extremely well designed hook & Ladder play. I hope the MLF was taking notes now that it's on tape.

Rams played very well -- Packers we all see room for improvement. I think that bodes well for next week with the extra day of rest.

I don't think Lazard can fully extend his arms above his shoulders yet because of the core injury.  We've seen him alligator balls several times since coming back and he's not the type of guy to do that on a regular basis.

Did Snacks get any snaps?

Very few, seemed to be early in the game. I think they were hesitant to play him after they saw the Rams going no-huddle to prevent Packers from subbing. In addition, Pettine went more 4-2-5 after getting caught with 3 interior d-lineman on the field and not being able to get them off, which resulted in some of the positive passing sequences for the Rams.

When the Titans came to Lambeau - they were  the # 1 Offense in the entire league and the 2020 Packers beat their ass, held them to 14 points and sent them home in a body bag.
