Positives:

Lacy

Cobb

That's about it.

Negatives:

OL pass blocking was sub par, run blocking up the gut was horrific

Pass defense

ILBs (those guys were AWOL tonight)...just a sad game from these guys

OLBs (Peppers 1 tackle, Clay 1 tackle and a sack)...oofta....need more production on Brees

MM play calling a bit confusing at times.

Injuries

The game turned when McCarthy got too cute (Peppers and the inside). You knew going in this is a bad matchup for the defense- you got too cute and turned Tds into FGs.

The D missed Burnett. A lot. The middle of the field became an expressway and when they adjust Payton had them on their heels the rest of the game.

Rodgers hurt makes this an 8-8 type team. The bye is timely.

+ Lacy

- McCarthy

- Capers

- OL

- DL

- receivers playing volleyball

- Refs were horrible. Fwd progress BS turned the tight game

- throwing to a Linebacker instead of a WR. genius

- allowing another huge point total

expected a loss but was also expecting a better all around effort.

1 non-garbage time TD, and it was in the first few minutes

got 2 weeks to prepare to bury the Bares and get this shiddy defense back on track

Lots of missed opportunities on offense, lots and lots and lots.

An offense that can commit to the run will kill us.  Aside from that, NO just demoralized the defense series by series.  There was a flash of hope on the fourth down stop, but otherwise NOLA could do anything.

Still baffled how "he cut him off" draws a flag.

Get healthy, get back at it in a couple weeks.

Positive

Cobb

Lacy

Rodgers prior to injury

Negs

-MM bag of tricks bullcrap. Passing to Peppers? Onside kick? wtf

-Rodgers injury...dude was clearly off the rest of the game after that

-Defense comes up small once again vs a competent QB. Just stunk in all facets. Receivers open over the middle, gave up those 2 long passes to Cooks, would have been 3 if he didn't drop the other one! They couldn't stop him at all. Run defense was atrocious again. Didn't force a punt and generated I think only one stop on a turnover on downs

-MM running on 4th down again vs stacked box, even worse is he did it behind the backup RG and NOT behind your stud LG in Josh Sitton.

- House got burned quite often and had some terrible missed tackles. Not the game you want to put on film with FA coming up.

- TJ Lang injury. Didn't hear much about it but it's never good when a player has to be carted to the locker room

Good

Adams seems to be getting better and more involved

Rodgers, even hindered, is better than just about every other QB.

Eddie Lacy is a train

MM actually called some screens

Bad

Quarless has to fight for the ball on the first INT

Adams quit on the route for an INT

Run defense must have been on Bourbon St last night

Not sure about the onside kick call early in the game

Putting Peppers in on the short yardage play

The 4th and 1 call to Lacy was too obvious...QB sneak maybe better

Ugly

Davon House...so much for trading him

LBs stunk

Flynn
Everyone is getting off the Capers bandwagon

Paws.

+MM discovery of this revolutionary concept called a "screen pass." Google it.

+ Lacy with his best game of the season.

+ Short yardage run D has been great. Strange but accurate.

Negs

-MM approaching the game like we are 20 point dogs.  No need for that, we are the better team.

- Letting #12 continue to play.

- Another game where we force zero punts.  Pathetic.

- Lattimore was given an opp to win the dime backer job, he blew it.

- Zebras, didn't cause the loss but they stank.

- HaHa had about 5 missed tackles tonight.

- Bahk looked like garbage against just an avg end.  I think we have over rated him.

General thoughts.

 - Rodgers is so damn good, we forget how much he carries this TEAM.  O and D. When we are winning, the D can tee off on pass rush and look for picks.  When it's a game, we can't rush or stop the run. The D lives off Rodgers and without him they are bottom of the barrel.

- The schedule gets a little softer and its a perfect time for a bye.  The NFC wild card is going to be tough to get this year.  We are chasing 2 on DET and already have 3 conferences losses.  I don't know if we can afford more than 1 more loss.

Thoughts... And I know you think I'm crazy....

Packers will win SB this year. Offense is too good and we played a crazy desperate   opponent tonight in an impossibly tough environment. Barring future injuries, D will be ok.  Ok in bold.

I think Collinsworth is a great announcer minus the hand job on Rodgers "injury".

Guys......AR is that good.   He is special. When this team puts a complete game together, they are the best team in football.

Tonight was a tough loss, but I don't think a reason to panic. I fully expect a blowout of the Bears after the bye.

Just some observations.

Positives

Aaron Rodgers. Let's not forget, he had 205 yards passing at the start of the second quarter. He was ripping the defense to shreds. Neither of the interceptions are his fault. Quarless tipped a pass I thought he should have had. Adams stopped on his route, and Rodgers threw the ball where the receiver should have been. The ball was in front of Adams, and he tipped the ball up for an easy pick. Rodgers had a really good game except for the two picks.

Eddie Lacy. The guy has really terrific speed out in the open. I wish we could see him use it more often. I think we're seeing him step forward now, as a complete back. When the running game isn't there because the run blocking is poor, he's a weapon as a pass receiver. He's strong and fast, and you don't ever question his effort.

Randall Cobb. The guy is amazing. They game planned to take Jordy Nelson out of the offense, and Cobb burned them early.

Negatives

Mike McCarthy. The onside kick I can live with. Nobody was expecting it (I certainly didn't), and if it works, it's huge for us. In hindsight, I'm ok with it. At the time, it didn't sit well with me because it came so soon after the failed pass to Peppers. The pass to Peppers was a real head scratcher. We needed a touchdown with first and goal at the three. That's not the time to try and get a veteran his first ever receiving score. Of all the people we have on the field-Nelson, Cobb, Adams, Quarless, Richard Rogers, he was the last person that should have had a pass coming his way in the endzone. It was on the numbers. It should have been 7. When we were held to a field goal, it gave a little momentum to New Orleans.

Dix. He had a rough night, whiffing on a few tackles he could have had against Ingram. I'm not going to be too hard on him, though, because halfway through his rookie season, Ha Ha has been a real delight. He's going to keep getting better and better.

The offensive line. Losing Lang hurt. I hope it's not serious. But Rodgers was heavily pressured the entire game. After losing him for half of 2013, one would think we'd be doing a better job of protecting #12 this season. Nope.

Davon House. Got burned by Stills for 45, but the pass interference call that gave New Orleans 36 yards late was a bogus call. Again, I can't be too hard on him. Most of the night, he had some pretty good coverage, I thought. This is a negative because of the one big play...but barely a negative, in my book.

Bakhtiari. Terrible night for him. One false start. One holding call. He leads the NFL in false start penalties. That has to change. Those are drive killers.

Pass rush. New Orleans just has a better offensive line. We sacked Brees twice, but most of the game, he was free to pick us apart. And he did.

Thank God for the bye week.

If they beat Philly and NE, then maybe you can think doing something in playoffs.
IMO, if Sproles is back and Shady McCoy is healthy, Rodgers better get the guns warmed up it will be A Chipper trackmeet shootout.
If Gronk is healthy, the NE game gonna be a Rodgers guns blazin game too.
The Pack defense in the middle is such a handicap, realistically just getting in playoffs is good at this point. Just win the games you are suppose to win.

I pointed out in the game thread, we should really give Crosby a ++, too. Since 2012, when he was awful, we don't have to worry about our kicker anymore. Crosby has hit 90% of his field goals in 2013 and 2014. When you consider some of the conditions he has to kick in playing in the NFC north in November and December, that's incredible. He's an elite kicker.

Pluses:

* Rodgers is A+++++ but it has to be tough on him to run for his life while trying to drag the D to victory as well. If we can't put a better D on the field, Rodgers won't ever again get as far in the playoffs as he deserves.

* Lacy, Cobb, Mason Jar

Negs:

* Said before I wasn't all the way behind Capers until he beats better teams. I guess, unfortunately, I was right.

* MM: when he senses we are in trouble, he goes to his bag of tricks when just gutting it out is usually the better option.

I vote we play only noon-on-Sunday games for the next decade.

Positives:

The game is over

Lacy

Cobb

The bye could not come at a better time

Negatives:

Why is it like clockwork the defense plays like it is going backwards and so SOFT sometimes?

Going for broke with gimmick plays is great sometimes but doing it too often can backfire

Did I mention I thought the defense was soft?

Tackling (and I use that term loosely)

I was at the game last night.  We had excellent seats thanks to a good friend, a Saints season ticket holder. A great guy, as I'm sure most Saints fans are.  You saw the game, so I won't re-stir Packer muck.

One comment, though.  While the Packer performance was disappointing last night, the thing that really got me mad was the Superdome's P.A. announcer.  I thought he was totally unprofessional.   The Saints organization can take a few lessons from the Packers when it comes to high-standard professionalism.

GO-PACK-GO!!

pos\;

lacy

cobb

crosby kicking well.

neg\;

adams

front 4 / 3 whatever, no pressure all night, so that would be daniels, guion, etc...

50 was bad, 57 was fried on a couple of plays (still an upgrade over 59)

indifferent\;

mm playcalling, i didn't mind any of the risks he took, his gut told him that he needed to go for it a bit, so he did, I don't fault him for that, if the onsides worked out, he would be golden...

not sure if its a pos or neg but the fact that we played perhaps our 4 toughest games in the first half, at least on the road is interesting. @ SEA, @ No, @ Det and @ Chi  were games people were thinking of possible losses before the season.

so , though we do still have the Eagles and Patriots at home, the 2nd half schedule looks much easier. The negative part is that we were outplayed in 3 of those contests against possible playoff teams.

Id like to see this team put up a solid effort against a team not named the Panthers, jets or Vikings.

The defense is just abysmal. Th eonly time its looked decent was against crappy offenses that shot themself in the foot. We cant count on the Geno Smithhs or Christian Ponders every week. Dom is gonna have to figure out how to get to the QB or how to stop the run.

The Saints put up 51 last time we were there and shoulda matched that again, had they not taken a knee outside the endzone last night.

+ The days of deferring in the first half appear to be over because.....

- The defense is built to play with a two score lead. When teams can still grind it exposes their weakness up the middle.

-Shields injury really showed up last night as he's the only burner in the Packers secondary. The Saints did a nice job of exploiting Green Bay's speed deficiencies.

I felt this game was going to be a tough win to win for a number of factors, so the outcome to me wasn't much of a surprise BUT...

-

...Not forcing any team to punt is a big negative.

...Peppers...dropping that pass in his breadbasket and also I saw some replays where he got close to the Brees and his hands/arms weren't up. Personally, I thought that was one of his biggest weapons when they signed him. Knocking down passes.

Not too worked up over M3. Onside kick works and he is a wizard. Pass play to Pep worked great. Except he dropped it.

Lacy
Cobb

Ingram
Really missed Burnett and Shields

Liked the slant call at the goal-line, but I wouldn't do it with Peppers no matter how much they practiced it. At game speed AR is putting more on that throw then in practice I'd bet. That's a late game play vs CHI when they are piling on. The subsequent on-side seemed desperate, "We're nobody's underdog.", right? Two tipped ball INTs.

It was a weird game.

Throwing the ball to Peppers coupled with the onside kick screams desperation to me.  That's a losers mentality.

I was impressed by GB's ability to make 3rd-stringer Ingram look like AP.

Clay with yet another poor showing.  We need more production.

MLB's in GB are a glowing weakness.  GB doesn't have a single MLB worthy of starting and it's not even close.

Post 2011, is it just me or does GB seem to get the **** kicked out of them against good opponents on prime time?
