-just about everything offensively

Negatives

-Special Teams coverage is still pretty suspect

-defensive front not getting enough pressure

-secondary giving up too many big plays to pedestrian QBs and/or WRs.

Lousy tackling and no pass rush

Pros

The offense is so good it may not matter

+ Believe it or not, we held Denver to 26 net yards in 2nd half

- Way too many guys continuing to run wide open in our secondary, interceptions notwhithstanding

No pass rush at all, which is why we are seeing the secondary get lit up each week.

Lack of QB pressure again. There will be games where the offense won't be clicking on all cylinders and it doesn't appear that the defense can hold up its end.

Hell, I'd say the game against the Panthers was one where the offense didn't look in sync and they still put up 30

This scares the sh*t outta me. Did you see that stat?? Something like 20+ passes have been completed for 20 yards or more this season against out secondary. Cripes!

Our backfield could use some improvements...

Lot of positives today, most already mentioned, so no reason to go into those.

There were plenty of negatives though:
-Clifton and Newhouse: Yes, Miller and Dumervil are both great pass rushers but they didn't look good. Hopefully Bulaga is back soon.
-Starks: Half the time he looked great. But the other half he looked like Brandon Jackson, looking tentative and dancing behind the line. What a weird performance last week and this week for him.
-Secondary: Interceptions are nice, but does anyone know how to cover anymore? Tramon looks lost out there. Woodson looks below average in man coverage. Shields runs hot and cold. So weird since pass coverage was a huge strength last year.
-Pass rush: There was none today. I wasn't going to jump to conclusions after a few games, but this is starting to become a problem. I don't think it's just the loss of Jenkins, b/c the pass rush was decent in the 5 games Jenkins was out last year. Really hope this gets fixed.

Obviously nitpicking, but these are the areas that need to improve for another Super Bowl run. Very glad this was a blowout though.

This goes hand in hand with pass ruxh IMO. If GB is getting to the QB, suddenly our DB's look alot better. CMIII was soo close today. But he can't do it all and even the best CB's cant cover forever.

Another Negative: Lambeau turf...lots of slips on both sides.

Randall Cobb's balance is unreal. He's not some small receiver who falls down at first contact, you have to tackle that little son of a gun.

The pass rush was rough. We got a few sacks, but the blitzing CBs were ineffective and everyone else on the line simply weren't winning 1-on-1's. Give any QB that much time and yeah he's going to find a hole in the coverage. I feel like the DBs are giving the pass rush enough time, the pass rush just isn't doing it's part. Mike Neal's return can't come too soon! He should be back after the BYE week and should be fresh for the home stretch.

Clay. I don't care how many sacks he doesn't have. He disrupts plays and causes double teams. And tackles for losses means something.

No major injuries....seems like every week they lose somebody.

They seem to be getting a little cocky with their playcalling. Take the points early in the game. And the onside kick. It's almost as if the Packers went into the game thinking there was no way that they could lose. Turns out they were right, but that could come back to haunt them against a better team.

The defense giving up big plays. The offense scores and it takes all of three plays for ORTON to drive the field for a TD. ORTON! At least they righted the ship in the second half.

Fu@#ing Romo and the Cowboys. I'll admit that I couldn't get myself to pull for the boys, but the Lions are starting to look like the real deal and it would have been nice to be a game up on them.

Was feeling good after the game and I spent a good 20 minutes flipping between ESPN, the NFL Network, and CBS...no Packers highlights. All anybody wanted to talk about was how great the Lions are or how the "Dream Team" is 1-3. I guess this could be a positive if you're are an "under the radar" type of fellow. A little respect would have been nice though.

I'm going to throw this out there because I've been drinking for several hours and perhaps I'm not thinking straight. I don't figure there's any way that they go undefeated this year, but losing a game might not be such a bad thing for this team....knock them down a few notches. Remove the arrogance.

I'm praying that Neal and Zombo can get the pass rush rolling again for the defense. Walden has been a massive letdown this year as a pass rusher, he seems to only have one move when rushing.

Blitzs are being picked up leaving huge gaps for the DB's to cover.

Personal grip:

Officials calling and INT on a ball the defender didn't have his hands under to keep it off the ground. It was a trap.

I'd like to see what Lattimore has to offer as a pass rusher in certain situations. That guy is lightning fast. He's not a complete player overall, but he's got speed like Cameron Wake and in an obvious passing situation I'd love to see what he can do. There is a reason they kept 6 OLBs and it isn't just because of his ST ability.

Did So'oto see the field?

I saw him on the sideline in the 3rd and that was it. I have no idea why they wouldn't get him in there in the 4th when the first teamers were out. Would have been great experience if nothing else.

So'Oto did see the field from scrimmage, but only on the last Bronco possession. He played Matthews position before the Peprah's last interception.

I don't get the commitment to Walden. He played 95% of the snaps and never got even close to Orton. He always tries the same move - a bull rush that gets stymied. The Packers have to find someone other than Matthews to balance the pass rush or the repeat is not going to happen. You can't continue to have the corners cover for 5 seconds. They will continue to get gashed for 300 yards per game through the air.

Even Reggie White, as strong as he was, had more moves than the bull rush. CMIII has quite a toolbox.

Surprised Kevin Greene hasn't worked with Walden to develop more.

Let's keep in mind that Denver has a very good LT in Ryan Clady. I'm not down that he got beaten by him, Clady has beaten better pass rushers than Walden. Same thing for the Carolina game, Jordan Gross is a pretty good LT. Against New Orleans and Chicago, two teams without strong LTs, he had really solid games. Let's keep in mind, just like with Sam Shields, he's in year 2 after going un-drafted out of an FCS school. Just because Clay made an impact immediately doesn't mean every OLB we bring in can. Give him time.

Good post, GD. To me the Donkey's game was the first time this year the pass rush was really bad.

Let's not forget that Walden was picked up off the street last season and might just be as good as he is gonna get.

I think he's probably good enough but an upgrade there would be nice.

1 - defense getting gashed again;

2 - rodgers taking too many chances running the ball. one hit and he could be out with another concussion. just slide, please, and let someone else score the tds.
