Think about this.   In terms of ranking players that have played for this franchise, we have:

  • Top 3 QB (Could argue 2 vs Favre, I don't think he tops Starr )
  • Top 3 WR (Don't think he tops Hudson, probably beats Driver and Sterling)
  • Top 3 RB (Don't think he tops Taylor but maybe Green)

It's crazy that I'm so pessimistic because of years of shit D that I don't think this group has a reasonable shot at a ring together.

---- Our ST coverage teams are an adventure.  Injuries surely don't help stability and consistency.  I noticed the Bears chose to return kickoffs within the end zone - definitely a huge flaw/weakness that still needs tons of fixes.

+++ Lancaster has taken Tonyan's place on the right side of field goals.

+++ Yay for Barry or Gray making the switch for Douglas over Yiadom quickly, instead of waiting a whole half like the McCarthy era would have.

----  Putting Tonyan in a position to block a DE one-on-one is a losing proposition.  Liked Greg Olsen's commentary on it.  M. Lewis can do it (he went one on one on Mack).  Tonyan is a mediocre blocker at best.

Is Barnes in the doghouse again?  Looks like Jaylon Smith got more snaps that Barnes did.

Yes that was obvious many times yesterday just how poor Tonyan attempts to block. its mind boggling. hoping its just a technique thing, but Im afraid its more like rebounding in basketball. effort, hustle, anticipation

I was surprised they kept Lewis on the roster but I was dead wrong. Love the big guy. Hope Bobby T can learn from Mercedes

It goes back to the fact that Tonyan was a tweener who converted to TE transitioning to the NFL.

When you have an elite OL like last year with three All-NFL level players (Bakh, Jenkins, and Linsley) and he can run routes most of the time he's very good. When you have to leave the TE in to block, he's a liability. He's not really a 3-down TE.

I think you guys are being a little harsh on Bobby T.    Nobody is in the same class as Lewis, so you can't watch him and then expect TE to be able to block like him.  Also, it was a bad game but some of it was poor design as well.   DE 1 on 1 vs TE is not going to be a win most the time.   The goal there is to slow them down, but he lost.   It happens.

Not only was he asked to block a DE, but was asked to "reach block to the inside, which I never like. However, it did look like Bobby either forgot the snap count or just got off the ball very slowly, the DE moved before he did on the snap.

Top 5.

1. OLB Rashan Gary, 87.4
2. CB Chandon Sullivan, 74.5
3. DL Kenny Clark, 73.6
4. LB De’Vondre Campbell, 71.4
5. S Henry Black, 70.6

Gary and Clark are staples.

Cannot be overstated how refreshing (and helpful to the D) it is to have a legitimate ILBer for the first time in forever in Campbell.

Sullivan and Black likely benefitted from the opposition, but nice scores nonetheless.

Bottom 5.

1. CB Rasul Douglas, 47.7
2. LB Jaylon Smith, 34.3
3. LB Oren Burks, 30.9
4. LB Krys Barnes, 28.5
5. CB Isaac Yiadom, 26.8

Douglas would have been higher if not for the unnecessary roughness penalty for the hit on fields.

Smith was let go by 5-1 Dallas for a reason.

Sad to see Barnes down with Burks and Smith.

Yiadom's Packer career should be about over if KIng returns or Dunbar has a pulse.

Those are really good observations from packerwire.

Campbell shows up with at least one big play every game.  I only saw the first half so far where he had a TFL on a CHI run play.  Not that a TFL is that big of a deal, I'm just not used to seeing it coming from one of our ILB's.

The talk I heard from 30k feet right after the Jaylon Smith trade was half of the pundits said he is still an all pro LB and the other half saying he doesn't even belong on the field.

I can't for the life of me remember the last time a Packer punter legitimately sailed one over the head of a returner where they had no chance to catch the ball. That was a moon shot by BOJO.

I am a bigly cheerleader for punters
