Positives:

Rodgers and Lacy will be a tough combo to beat in the coming years.

Negatives:

About 1/2 the defense needs a MASSIVE upgrade in talent.  Not sure that can be done in one off-season.

Positives:

Newhouse wasn't a complete ****-up once Bakhtiari went out.

Negatives:

Bush was a ****-up on the last drive.

(I was thinking of you, Boris, when both House and Bakhtiari went down.  I figured you weren't going to be pleased about seeing their replacements on the field.  )

Positives:

They almost won.

Offense ran the ball much better than most would have thought.

Defense played pretty well.

Negatives:

Red-Zone offense just seems helpless at times.

Hyde didn't make that interception.

James Jones didn't make either of his two possible big-play catches.

Packers can't contain Kaepernick.

Injuries, injuries, injuries.

Time management. Why no timeout at the end of the 2nd quarter with 15 seconds left? Could have had a better shot at scoring a TD before kicking a FG.

James Jones did not have his best day.  Early in the game it looked like he simply forgot to block on a play, which is not like him (or these wide receivers).

If the Packers are smart they pay Starks some reasonable money.  If Starks is smart he takes it.  Eddie Lacy could extend his career by four years and keep the money coming in.  They compliment each other perfectly.

Actually that was last year...Niners had no injuries of note. This year  they had several key ones and it showed over the season.

It definitely seems like they have more injuries than most teams, but I don't know if that's true or not. If anyone knew how to prevent injuries better, I'm sure they've been consulted. Just bad luck.

Exactly...  1rst and goal in 4th quarter with 6 mins left..  The previous drive we ran the ball down their throats..  Mike decides it's the perfect time to get cute and put Cobb in the backfield..

We dominated the between the tackles all season long..  Mike never trusted it, especially in the redzone.

I am a huge fan of Starks.  He always seems to get positive yardage when has the ball.  GB should have used him more today.  GB needs to pay him.

More of a season as a whole thought, but I loved Lacy and Hyde this year.  They need to get nice TE in the draft, a LB and another DT.   They should be getting some bodies back before the 2014 season, so it should be interesting. If they don't sign Starks, they can draft James White in the 3rd.  Let Raji walk.

They need a physical LB, and a fast DE that can get to the qb.   Matthews is too injury prone.

+ Interior line showed it can beat the Niners

+ Jordy

+ House, Boyd and Picket.

- Jones, might be his last game as Packer too.

- Hawk with zero ball skills on Davis TD

- Capers not having stones to sell out on last drive until too late.

- MM not trusting power run game in redzone.

Capers has to go.  MM's loyalty can't get in the way of a obvious problem here..  TT isn't going anywhere, we need to know if it's the plethora of 1rst rounders sucking or if it's the coach.   Only way to know is bring in a new DC or bring in a new GM..   I vote for DC..

Not blaming this lose completely on Capers, they preformed better than expected.  His firing about the past 3 seasons.

We do spend a lot of time trying to "trick" other teams.

Here's a negative: 1st round draft picks.

It's frustrating with all the early playoff exit's.  Hasn't there been several "one and done"'s in MM's tenure outside of the Superbowl season?

Funny you mention three seasons.  That's when the defense fell off a cliff and the rebuild began last season.  Imo, it's not wise to scrap the whole thing and start over in the second year.  Same as with rebuilding an offense it needs time.  What they did today with what they had to play was impressive.

I second (or  third) that. Starks was great this year. He is a perfect compliment to Lacy.

James Starks: Those dreads look awesome on you, Eddie.
Eddie Lacy: Why thank you.  And that Packer uniform really flatters your figure.

(Sorry, but I'm trying to use humor to deal with another disappointing Packer playoff loss.)

Very proud of this team warts and all.  It just wasn't meant to be.

@DanAmira: That game-winning field goal went *through the arms* of this Packers player. Can't get any closer. https://t.co/uedJfVREHC

Watching Jim Harbaugh's post game press conference only confirms he is one of the most arrogant pricks to ever be in the league.  Give me MM any day.

One game in sub zero temps they held a playoff opponent under 30...  Color me not impressed.

Plus, in the most critical moment of that game, fail.

MM summed it up. Good efforts. Not enough plays made when opportunities were there. On both sides of the ball.

Mike McCarthy after the game:

First, congratulate the 49ers on their victory.

As far as our team, very proud, their ability to overcome adversity. We knew we needed to score more than 20 points today, we didn't get it done. You have to make one more play than your opponent, that's playoff football, we came up short.

Still don't get that call.

For me, not a lot to bitch about. The Packers were outmatched and it shouldn't have been this close. When I saw the refs letting House man-handle Crabby early, I knew it would be a bad day. The GB WRs got the same treatment and some of those back-shoulder and deep throws that normally go their way would not with the DB pulling the Packers WR.
