LaFleur made it clear that he wasn't considering a change to the defensive staff at this point despite continued struggles from Barry's unit.

"We're not going to go down that road," LaFleur said. "So, again, if I thought there was an issue there, then I would certainly, we'd make the change. But we work as a staff and collectively we're all in this sucker together and it's never just one person. It's never one person. It starts with myself and then it goes to our assistant coaches and then our players."

I mean, its possible that barry's all good.  if the team gave up on him and it, what's the point then? he's playing for his own job if he wants to die on that hill.

I didn’t watch the game (why bother) but allowing 350 yards rushing?  That’s bad.  Historically bad.  I’ll bet in the history of this franchise it’s top 5 all time.  Yet Barry is safe?

You are close.  It is in the top three worst performances by the rush defense in the history of the franchise.  I don't know exact numbers but the worst was back in I believe 1954 when they gave up around 400 and again in the 1970s against Payton and the Bears when they gave up something like 375 yards.

If he thought there was an issue he’d do something about it?  Mo Drayton ?  Hello McFly.  He was probably forced to get rid of him.  Same with Amari.  How many times did that stupid POS fuck us with stupid decisions, fumbling and less than average return skills?  He was probably forced to make that change.  MLF’s a pussy, bottom line, that’s why our team plays like pussies.  It’s going to cost him even if he got an extension.  He’ll have to be forced to get rid of Barry.  MLF’s a good offensive coordinator, but he’s not cut out for being a head coach.

Benkert obviously knows as much about how this offense is supposed to be run as anyone not currently on the team. I thought this was just a terrible interception when this happened yesterday, but after reading this from Benkert thought about it and couldn't remember any other time that a safety undercut a route for an interception off of Rodgers from this deep.

The bigger question is why is Tyler Davis still on the team? If Benkert is right, this lack of attention to detail is what should get guys on the fringe of the roster cut. He was terrible in the preseason, but they had talked him up so much in the preseason it was like he was related to someone on the coaching staff. Isn't there a TE on someone's practice squad with some potential that you could at least see how they did in your system?

MLF has developed a pattern of not holding players or staff accountable.  This is why the team is what it is.

MLF was 13-3 ---2 years in a row...He's a bad coach in the same way Rodgers is a bad QB

Walker had 11 tackles and I believe played every one of the 79 defensive snaps. He struggles to shed straight line blocks from O-lineman and he could have done a better job spying Hurts-but this is true of everybody that has played the Eagles. He is going to be an excellent middle linebacker

I wouldn't call Dillon, Jones, Amos, Douglas, Bahktiari, Jenkins, Mixon, Myers, Ford, Walker, McDuffie, Rodgers, Alexander, Davey, Cobb, Lazard, Lewis, Clark-even with his reduced effectiveness and Barnes even with his constant injuries -pussies

Community ownership has been the greatest asset of the Green Bay Packers. They are a model of how a franchise can be run, from the non-profit concessions to the strength of their investment funds---not to mention winning a few titles and next week when they beat the Bears, being  the all time winningest franchise...a private owner would have moved this team out of back water Green Bay a dozen different times since the 'troubles' of the early 50s

By all accounts, Amari Rodgers was an incredibly hard working, great teammate with quite a 2020 season with national champion Clemson. It 's not easy to let go of such a player--fumbling is bad...but it can be fixed-see also Ahman Green. I'll be surprised if Amari  Rodgers doesn't have a good career elsewhere.

A head coach isn't going to throw one of his assistants under the bus at this point of the season. He knows the defense has been shit. Barry is gone at the end of the season and it will be MLF that delivers the news. There's a level of professionalism that you need to show here. He's not going to appease you as a fan and rant about how shitty this coach or that player is.

He had his guy as ST's coach 3 years ago and the bean counters fucked him over and tried to lowball on the offer. Going with Drayton after Mennenga was a clear mistake and he got canned after one season. They finally got that shit right this year with Bisaccia.

He was required to keep to keep the incumbent DC in 2019 and then let him go a year later. He picked Leonhard as the next guy but he wanted to stay with the Badgers. No idea if he would have been any better but despite the defense playing well with a ton of injuries in 2021 it's now clear Barry is not the guy for the job.

Assuming he fires Barry in 2023 that will be 4 coordinators that he has sent packing in 4 years as a head coach. But he's a pussy because he won't hold his coaches accountable. Yeah, OK.

You make some very good points but the whole world could see that Drayton's unit was a dumpster fire last year and MLF just stuck with him and acted helpless to do anything about it until it ultimately ended our season early. I lost all confidence in him after the incompetent manner in which he handled that situation.

Can you imagine Lombadi, Shula, Landry or even someone like Pete Carroll ever saying they hope "their special teams play doesn't hurt them" before a huge playoff game as a #1 seed?  If it was a concern, the coaches above would have made damn sure it was addressed beforehand.

3 years in a row if count 13-4 last year.

Makes a difference when your HOF QB plays like a HOF QB.  For whatever reason, and maybe due to injury, he’s not.  It also makes a difference when your HOF QB had two rookies, two has beens, and a bunch of mediocre receivers to throw to.  That’s not MLF’s fault, just saying.  The defense in GB has been lousy since 2010.  For some reason, nothing’s changed there, but they were covered by an outstanding offense.  That’s not the case this year.  And Barry is definitely shit.  Not helping at all.

And Amari.  And now Barry.  Sorry, PH, we’re going to have to agree to disagree on this one.  Waiting until the season ends is stupid. However, this year, it probably doesn’t matter since the fat lady is warming up.

The same MVP QB that everyone thought was on the decline in 2018 and 2019. We can play this chicken or egg shit all day. You don't win 39 games in 3 seasons if Bozo The Clown is coaching your team.

Disagree somewhat. MLF has shown signs of incompetence and being over his head. He has hired some terrible assistants and consistently fails to make in game adjustments. Time will tell but the way he handled the Drayton situation alone is reason for significant concern.

.For 3 years MLF beat the teams he should have beat.  That is the sign of a good coach.

For the most part I agree ...other than the last game of the season vs. the Lions (I know we didn't have anything to play for , but neither did the Lions) and the playoff lost to SF .... but this season we have lost to a number of teams we are more talented than, which is the sign of poor coaching. When numerous players are playing significantly worse than the previous year you have to surmise that something has gone wrong with team attitude and / or the players belief in the coaching staff. The majority of the players are on the defensive side of the ball (Clark, Campbell, Amos, Savage, Alexander, and Stokes) with Rodgers being the only offensive player I would put in this category. Offense's struggles , IMHO were more about early injuries with the WRs and O-Line, while the defense appears to just not want to play for this staff. Even if it is Barry, it is on MLF for choosing him.

That's funny. I was thinking of him as a typed it. Closest you can come to a terrible coach having that kind of success. Man, the 1994/1995 teams were loaded. And he did get them a SB win. But he won 34 games in 3 years then went 6-10.

Maybe next year we find out if MLF is Switzer or... something else?

He's a lot better than Switzer. Those Dallas teams were loaded almost beyond comparison, but particularly along the offensive line. Every one of their starting OL made multiple Pro Bowls in their career and a cumulative total of 30 in their careers. Larry Allen is already in the HOF and you could argue Nate Newton, Erik Williams, and Ray Donaldson should be in the conversation as well. Their worst offensive lineman was their LT, Tuinei, and he made the Pro Bowl twice and started for the Cowboys for 12 years at LT. Their 4 starting DL all made at least one Pro Bowl (Tolbert, Lett, Haley, and Maryland). Those teams may have had the best combination of OL and DL in NFL history. Combine that with skill-position guys like E. Smith, Deion, Darren Woodson, Michael Irvin, Novacek, Aikman, etc., pretty much any good high school coach could have succeeded. The main thing was to keep some of those guys from getting arrested. Switzer was used to that from his time as a college coach at Oklahoma.

I think MLF's best comp is actually Mike McCarthy. McCarthy inherited a Packers team where a HOF QB had stopped listening to Mike Sherman and got Favre to have some level of accountability (if for nothing else for Favre to show that Sherman, not him, was the problem). Rodgers had stopped respecting MM and MLF eventually got him to re-engage.

I would say neither guy is a HOF-level coach, but they are well above average (and if MM wins a ring in Dallas I bet he'll be in the HOF). You don't win that many games that often without doing a lot of things right.

The differences are that MLF likely does not have another HOF QB waiting in the wings. The similarities are that both left some wins, and potentially a ring or two on the table, by being too loyal to specific players that were good teammates and try-hard guys, but needed to be replaced (AJ Hawk, Amari Rodgers) and were too loyal to move on from assistant coaches that eventually lost them games in the playoffs (special teams coaches in particular).

The problem is that one of the very things that probably made them good coaches (loyalty and consistency) is what prevented them from being elite (it takes a cutthroat Belichik-like mentality to replace guys that have contributed to a team's success once they start to decline - see Ty Law, L. Milloy, Richard Seymour, etc. on the Patriots.
