I still think the sample size is WAY too small to make any judgements on Green. Besides, their defense was again a top 10 defense. Its not like these guys are complete schlubs anymore.

Green is learning and has obvious potential. Besides, get him snaps, keep Starks in the doghouse/get healthy/ rest. He can come back later with fresh legs.
ILPF's post game grab bag:

Cobb's production is climbing in direct relation to his time on the field. We've all be clamoring for it, and he's seeing the field more and more. In part by making himself impossible to take off of it.

Interesting point in the broadcast with Fisher going off about Rodgers' hands on the hard count. If that is in fact a rule, it's possible we see refs start clamping down on it. That'd be too bad, because he has to be the best free-play QB in the game.

Love everything I've seen from Hayward, and the little bit of action that came House's way today. Love that Hayward went with a text book wrapup after the flag on Moses bailed the the Rams out. With the play of the young secondary and Woodson's 2013 price tag, not a good time for his drop in play. Maybe his time at Safety is just hiding him a bit, but he definitely seems to be less of a factor at his best.

I read in some of the post game comments that MM and Rodgers were struggling with how slowly the refs spotted the balls. Said it really took a toll on their rhythm, and that's why they went to huddle offense nearly exclusively in the second half. Then they exploded.
When they drafted Alex Green, I was hoping it meant the Packers would have a speedy, crafty back with great hands and the ability to make people miss in 'space'...and they got it!---his name is Randall Cobb.

Granted Alex Green had nowhere to go on 15 carries today--but, today he was too slow to the corner, couldn't break a tackle--couldn't move a pile..and couldn't get away from anybody--Kuhn had greater success-He needs a chance---but we need to let Starks back in the game plan. Green is a 3rd down back, not a 1st down back.

and on the positive side---how about those young D backs---and Rodgers is an absolute freak.
I guess I'm in the minority on Green; I didn't think he had any chance today. Not even AP cracks 100 yards with that blocking. The o-line was embarrassing in the run game today.

I'm still high on Green. He runs hard, shows some burst, and doesn't go down right away. And he's pretty solid in the pass game too (both receiving and in blitz pickup). I think if he gets decent blocking, he'll be ok.
Im with CU on this one. Green is now in what, his 3rd week as "the man"? Sure, he's struggled, but he's also shown a capability of making plays too. His attitude seems excellent, and one thing you can't fake is preparation. Let the guy take his lumps and learn the game of pro football. Maybe he won't end up being a #1 back, but I believe he deserves the opportunity more than anyone on the roster at this point. Today against a good pass rush he served as just enough counter to let Rodgers do his thing. If he makes any improvement from here on out, I believe the offense will continue to improve. What other options does MM have at this point anyway?

Green gives a lot more in blitz pick up than Starks and that goes a long way. Also hasn't fumbled (knock on wood) which was a concern I had with him. He's real good at being sneaky leaking out of the backfield and he's got enough agility and acceleration that defenses have to account for him. He certainly left some plays out there. If he improves in that he could really open the offense up and give defenses fits over what to do with him. .
I had to watch the game on a stream today, so it was hard to see everything in the game. From what I saw, however:

Packer Fans! America truly is PackerLand!
Arod, Jordy, and Cobb. These guys are the playmakers on offense!
Jones-had another great game.
CM III-didn't have a great game, but never took his foot off the pedal!
Heyward-Speaking of playmakers...
House-it's just good to see him on the field again. And he looked decent enough.
Scoring defense-did an outstanding job in the first half!
Bush-he has become this era's Steve Tasker.

OL-our passing game has devolved into ARod scrambling every play to avoid the opposing team's rushers that our guys can barely stand in front of, much less block. Running game? 'Nuff said.
DL-really regressed from last week.
LB's-ditto.
Now, can anybody explain to me how the Rams can have 2 backup OL starting, and right next to each other to boot, and Bradford was barely touched all day? Their rushing game didn't suffer much, if any, as well.
Are these guys just that damn good? Or is the OL the Rams deepest and most talented positions? or...did our guys just suck?
And while I'm on a rant, why wouldn't every blitz and stunt be directed right at those guys? I saw at least 2 S or DB blitzes off the edge today on the opposite side that were stonewalled. Of course, running it to the other side doesn't guarantee success, but I'd have to think the chances would be better.

I'll give Crosby a pass. A kicker should be at least 50% on FG's over 50 yards, and slide the scale down as the distance increases, but I would've felt better if he was close on the attempt. Big Grin
Ditto for Green. He wasn't perfect, but he rarely had--if at all--a hole to run through. Some attempts it's hard for him to ever get started; he's either trying to avoid his own blockers 3 yards in the backfield, or the guy running free that just left our OL in the dust.
Back to Green---I agree this is his third game and he had nowhere to go on 90% of his runs---so it is not fair to grade him--but on the 2 'sprint' plays he did not show much burst.... he dropped a ball that he hit him squarely in the numbers and moved the pile on first down less than Brandon Jackson...He showed great promise with the big run against Indy....but I would far prefer to see Starks on first and second down----It very well could be all about blitz pick up--that is no doubt as important as a 3.5 yard per carry average.
From ProFootballFocus
Jeff Saturday has never been the biggest of centers, and with his age getting up there now he is always likely to struggle against the biggest and strongest defensive tackles the league has to offer. He was able to use sound technique and some help from his guards to keep a clean sheet in pass protection over the 42 snaps he was asked to do it, but he struggled badly in the run game, leading to several plays that were blown up deep in the backfield as he was worked backwards into the running back by multiple Rams defenders.

Indoors generally helps, but Rodgers is just ridiculous indoors vs. very good outdoors.

In Rodgers' last eight dome games, (including the Super Bowl and playoff game at Atlanta), Rodgers has completed 201 of 283 passes (71.0 percent) for 2,623 yards, 25 touchdowns and one interception.

That's half a season in games to get a great season's worth of statistics.

Double that and you have a 5,306-yard, 50-touchdown and two interception season.
