That right there is some genius extrapolatious thinking, big noggin.

The Packers were not as bad as it looked, that's is out side of terrible back up QB play.  The defense played the whole game after Rodgers was taken out.

The way the Packers are designed to win games, pass, pass,  pass, if Rodgers gets hurt they are done. Heck the good thing imagine if ted was drafting near the top of each round.

I feel like 90% of the negativity wouldn't be going on right now if the Packers had punched it in for a TD from the 1 on the first drive. Funny how that works. All I took from this game is that it's time to give up on Harrell in order to give the other two guys more reps.

this. Hope all of these clowns get cut tomorrow and this team gets nuked from existence. sick of it

I was'nt expecting a whole lot in this first pre-season game, but I sure expected more than we got.

MM and crew have some serious coaching to do. Methinks next week wont be fun for the players. Hope to see much improvement next week. As tonight was a sorry excuse for Packer football.

I guess we all can focus on that for a positive.

What really bothers me more than anything with this PRESEASON game was the play of our secondary.  We already know the Back up QBs, and kickers were/are bad, but I had thought that our secondary was suppose to be deep this year.

Well, I thought the first team offense wasn't bad for its first outing.  Of course, it was just one drive, and they should have punched it in.  If Lacy had played, I think they would have scored.  And Baktiaritiaribakalakadingdong looked good.  Hey, count your blessings!  Losing Bulaga could have been disasterous, and we need to appreciate that a rookie may be solid at LT.

4 points:

1.  Weird game.  The much anticipated kicking battle didn't take place.

2.  Man, Harrell and Coleman suck.  Vince Young maybe our backup QB after all.

3.  Still not sold on Boykin or Ross.  I like Gillette and Walker.   Anyone know if either of them did any punt or kick returning in college?

4.  Has Dom Capers lost his mojo?  Just sayin'......

The game passed Capers by several years ago IMO. He's predictable as stated by multiple sources saying the scheme weakens each year as teams figure it out. It's only pre-season so no worries, but Dom's pattern and comments from those in the know are concerning.

But they did punch it in!

Starks was clearly moving his feet, and still moving his feet when he reached the ball over the goal line....they even reviewed it....but how could that not be a touchdown?

I didn't hear what the reasoning was for not allowing it?

I guess Mike Pereira doesn't work exhibition games?

Several years ago? So did the meaning of the word "several" change without me knowing it, or were the other teams were just being charitable to the Packers for some reason in 2010?

Ignore him. He has no clue what he's typing about.

All Dom needs is healthy productive players & rating Dom on tonights pre-season game is one of the more idiotic posts of all-time on X4.

I thought it was a TD too.  However, no matter how well Starks performs this preseason, I have little confidence in him, once we enter the season.

It's difficult, if not impossible, to judge from a video stream, the limitations of local coverage, and limited high-/low-lights, but from what I saw:

The biggest disappointment to me was the apparent lack of changes from last year. Pass rush was anemic, and the DB's can't defend the 15-20 yard pass, especially on 3rd downs. On offense, our statistically good rushing game still can't convert 3rd-and-1 and 3rd-and-2, and can't even average 3.0 YPC.

That leads to defense playing too many snaps, and they were fatigued by halftime, and all of a sudden, rushes they were stopping for 2 or 3 yard gains turn into 7 or 8, and it does turn into a scrimmage at that point...for the other team. It gets tedious for us when the defense can't stop the oppostition, and can't create the TO.

On the good side, I thought tackling was much improved, especially in the defensive backfield. The front 7 did well against the rush; even with the above-mentiond long gains, their YPC was paltry as well.

Goal-line (scoring) defense was excellent in the 2nd half. They ultimately prevented as many as 17 points, if not more, when their kicker got the Crosbies.

I know I'm asking to be buried under a dung heap, but I don't think Harrell played that bad. I agree he is making mistakes that he shouldn't be at this point in his 'career', and his INT was atrocious, but he also had a few very good throws, and was hurt by some drops, and mediocre pass protection.

Actually, I'd appreciate those of you that will watch the re-air on NFLN or have DVR capability that posted tonight to do the same after you watch it again, and see if your opinions are still the same.

Some opinions on specific players:
I've really seen enough of Newhouse chasing his guy that he's whiffed on, and I've seen enough of D.J. Williams, period. With his experience, Newhouse should've dominated tonight, and Williams is David Martin, part deaux.

Still expect better from Finley; he had a couple of drops tonight.

Daktari's a keeper.

Ditto for Tyrone Walker. Granted, it's only 1 game, but he beat Boykin and Ross combined for receptions and yardage.

Jolly held up for the number of snaps he played.

Other than Datone, I think we came out relatively unscathed from injury.

VY is exactly who I thought he was.

His one glaring mistake was against John Abraham.

Walker took a nice step toward a roster spot and the first team offense looked good, including the rookie LT. Other than that not really much to like and the backup QB situation is dire.

pre season is pre season...funny how Davon House looked so good in pre season last year---and looked lost last night..I thought Jolly looked old and slow...Daniels and Francois, though he missed the sack...had some explosion..Graham Harrell is one of the true glaring errors that Thompson has made...what do they see in this guy?..he is equally bad in all parts of his game...when he was telling Williams to catch the ball....I was thinking, how bout this Graham: make correct reads, if you throw into traffic, try some accuracy,  when you see pressure, move away from it...and by all means take your noodle arm back to Texas....hopefully Young will be ready by September...now Thompson needs to find a tackle

+++

1st string offense looked OK

rookie LT didn't get his name called

welcome back Jolly (albeit the plays I saw were against backups)

Walker at WR made an impression

no major injuries I'm aware of

----

House = awful

Harrell = waiver wire soon

Getting shut out by Cardinals = embarrassing

Good thing it's preseason!

The rookie receiver Walker showed he really wants to make the team.  Chased down Patrick Petersen on the INT and just overall looked like a guy potentially capable of making a roster.

The rookie LT looked solid.

Starks looked like the late 2010 and early 2011 version of himself (a good thing) instead of the 2012 version.   This team won a lot of games when Starks was healthy and playing well and I think sometimes people forget that.  I totally get that it could all come crumbling down as he starts to get some nagging injuries, but right now he's a definite keeper on this team.

Jolly and the rookie DT Boyd flashed some talent in the 2nd half.  RB Franklin has some quicks to him, but doesn't look like a natural Punt or Kick returner.

The game was bad overall, but when you're going in there only playing your 1st team guys for 1 series, it's nothing to get too upset over.  If they play this poorly in week 3 of pre-season, then it's time to worry.

One thing is for sure, this team needs Cobb, Nelson, and Jones to be on the field together for the offense to be its' true best.  They aren't 5 deep starter wise at the WR position anymore like they were for a couple of years.

My limited take on last night:

-- Bakhtiari looks like a starter

-- Newhouse is going to have a tough time keeping his job at RT

-- Walker has the ability to begin avoiding tacklers as he is catching the ball

-- AR led offense looked good, even without perhaps our top 3 playmakers

-- House did not live up to camp reports

-- Could not get pressure rushing 4 on passing downs.

-- Starks is still "just a guy", only made a defender miss on 1 of his 12 runs. Does not have Lacy's talent

-- If AR gets injured we have a great shot of drafting Clowney.

TT certainly should be assigned some blame, but he's relying extensively on input from the QB guru and getting some questionable advice, IMO. I'm becoming convinced that MM has a blind spot with Harrell.

Injury list: Defensive end Datone Jones was the only player injured, according to McCarthy's report from trainer Pepper Burruss. He suffered a sprained left ankle in the first series and didn't return.

Doesn't sound too bad, hopefully.
