It remains to be seen but it looks like we have some solid players in Bulaga, Neal & Burnett drafted this season.

Go ahead and use those 20-20 glasses and look back at the draft and tell us who you would have taken instead? (If anyone)

NFL 2010 Draft

Do not use trades. You must use the SAME pick TT used including his trades.

I think TT's trade up for Burnett was sheer GENIUS (notice proper spelling) because I believe the Bears were going to draft Burnett

CUPackFan initiated this thought from me and it deserves a new thread.

So I figured this would be a good thread for this, but after seeing Neal, Bulaga and Burnett play in the preseason, do you think TT should have altered his draft to get an OLB in those first 4 rounds?

IMO, TT did as well as he possibly could in the draft (at least at this point in time). Sometimes you just have too many holes to fill and not enough picks to fill them. But I wouldn't change who TT drafted in those 4 rounds to try and get that OLB we need.
From the Dallas news report on Capers:

quote:

Capers also has produced the NFL sack leader three times โ€“ Swilling at New Orleans in 1991, Kevin Greene at Pittsburgh in 1994 and Greene again at Carolina in 1996. In fact, Greene and fellow outside backer Lamar Lathon gave the Panthers a 1-2 finish in 1996. Greene is now Green Bayโ€™s outside linebacker coach under Capers.

Rookie Clay Matthews hit double figures in sacks with 10 as a rookie for the Packers in 2009 to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl. He became the ninth outside linebacker in a Capers scheme to gain Pro Bowl acclaim.

โ€œYouโ€™re crazy if you donโ€™t want to play outside linebacker in this defense,โ€ Capers said. โ€œEverybody weโ€™ve had makes the Pro Bowl.โ€

Which is why the Packers arenโ€™t overly concerned about strongside linebacker Brad Jones, a seven-round pick in 2009 who wound up starting the final seven games for an injured Aaron Kampman. He managed just four sacks.

Now the position is his. The scheme itself will benefit Jones. More opportunities have always translated into more sacks in the Capers scheme. Nine more starts in 2010 should afford Jones those opportunities.

Greg Lloyd was a sixth-round pick of the Steelers in 1987. He didnโ€™t sniff a double-digit sack season or Pro Bowl berth until Capers arrived. Lloyd went to the Pro Bowl all three seasons he played for Capers and finally hit double-digits in sacks with 10 in 1994. Jones could be Green Bayโ€™s version of Greg Lloyd in this scheme.

No. And only because I read that yesterday. I didn't know they couldn't.

PS: I think that's a stupid rule. It's not like they got suspended and are being punished. What's the harm in them practicing?
I understand why PUP and IR players can't practice. Those lists are reserved for players who are hurt and can't play. And b/c of that, the NFL has granted the team extra roster spots. If those players could practice, why not throw all your non-contributing rookies on there and develop them for 6-8 weeks without wasting a roster spot for them. For the Packers, this would apply to Quarless, Newhouse and Wilson; 3 guys that likely won't contribute those first 6 games but the team wants to hang on to. Then the Packers could put veterans in their place that will be able to contribute those first 6 games, drop them, then add the rookies back to the roster for week 7.

WHAT???? Next time you will tell us atterney is spelled a-t-t-or-n-e-y. Where's Scoop?

This is a great concept. I really wish I could play, but recently I just haven't followed the draft that closely. I do know that, at #1 I would have chosen Bulaga as well.

Funny, my wife just put me on that list.

He hasn't yet. Not in college, not in the pros - so far. The "P" (potential)word applies here. And that's all he is until proven differently. At least TT didn't take him with GB's first round pick. I wasn't high on this guy. I suppose Harrell had to have someone take his IR spot - It is my opinion that is where he is heading this season.

Perhaps you need to "See Alice"

Why, does she put out?

Would it matter? You're wife put you on that list for a reason.

Off topic: Perfect day scenario. Last Packer practice yesterday. Happy Packer People thanking fans at end of of practice. Meeting (sort of) Jermichael. Saying "hi" to Woody. Last lunch at Fuzzy's (sad, but he sold the joint). A stop at Beansnapper's on the way home. Sigh. No tattoos = nice change of pace.

On topic: I also was hoping for OLB help in the draft but, as it shakes out, Ted was typically very solid.
