Why, because you can't pull your head out of your ass long enough to realize that GB's special teams play is actually a strength on the team? Of course, Slocum has nothing to do with that at all.

God forbid, we allow a young coach to develop and learn.

I was going to post the same thing, albeit while attempting to be a bit smoother around the edges Smiler . I've been as vocal a critic of Slocum as there has been, but this year special teams is really functioning well in all facets. Slocum has proved me wrong.
Wonder if Moss takes some Packers assistants with him? Maybe make Darren Perry the D coordinator there. He was interviewed or at least mentioned last season as a potential candidate for the Raiders D coordinator job I think

Reggie broke into the personnel business under Ron Wolf. RW didn't waste time when he'd made a decision.

I could see Trgovac going as the DC, the other 3 prolly stay in GB ... for now.

Actually, Trgovac stated earlier this season that he intends to stay in GB until his kids finish high school, which is another year or 2.

Excellent because he is a Great DL coach!

Schefter reporting that Perry is a strong candidate for the HC job in addition to Moss.
Losing all our assistants? Relax. We have one thing going for us VS Oakland or anybody else. We have the City of Green Bay, the Packer Organization and Lambeau Field. MM is a well liked coach.

Can't blame anyone who moves up to GM or Head Coach. But, our D isn't that great that we will miss guys who do go. Heck we are close to last in yards.

Also, I think TT knew he was losing McKenzie and he planned for it long ago.

WE ARE GREEN BAY!

Disagree. I think Hue can be a good head coach. He is worse than Mike Sherman at being a "GM" though. He caught the Raiders at a vulnerable time and was able to get Carson Palmer by giving up a kings ransom.

(Can you believe the Bengals got those draft picks for Carson and all we got for Favre was a 3rd rounder?)

As long as Reggie has full power over all football operations, this is a very good thing for the Raiders. Don't be surprised to see the Raiders in the playoffs as early as next season.

Reason I thought he needed to go was because he was too power hungry. He was basically running the whole show after Davis died and then had the guts to try and put his stamp on the GM search. He needed to go, start fresh in Oakland with an entirely new regime. Choking the playoff spot and the lousy trade were just the deal clinchers.
I hope reggie has some success there. would like to keep Whitt. I think the secondarys problem has been due to the lack of pass rush. Shields and Tramon were just outstanding last year and I don't think they got worse. The front seven did. And Moss can go. For as good as Hawk played at the end of last year he just has not been good this year at all. Arm tackles, running backs bouncing off his hits instead of trying to wrap them up, and God help us if he has to cover Sproles again like he did last time. Probably the only bad contract Ted has given out in the last few years. I would feel better with Francois or Smith in there.
I remember Bob Harlan saying that when he hired TT, he asked Thompson to keep Sherman around as head coach for at least one more year. I think TT did that as a courtesy to Harlan. After the 2005 season, Harlan gave TT his blessing for terminating Sherman after it was apparent that Sherman and TT couldn't work together.

P.B. You're correct
Don Banks of SI has a great article about why getting rid of Jackson was a no-brainer. Jackson revealed as an inveterate self-promoter, back-stabber and power grabbing jerk. Link

A lot of media types are jumping up and down saying how unfair this is to Jackson. Goes to show you how much any coach kissing a reporter/reporters' ass influences how these guys write their "stories" and "analysis". The Carson Palmer trade alone reveals how over his head and incompetent this guy is.

After he lost the GM job, Sherman acted like a pouting child during the remainder of his time in Green Bay. This was the year that NFL Network caught him taking a nap at the combine, and it was pretty obvious all year long that he didn't care much about the outcome of the games. Before that season, he sometimes would get worked up and yell at the refs or certain players, he became a statue on the sidelines in 2005.
Saw (seen?) Reggie during his press conference. He said he goes with his gut.

Also, as soon as Reggie was hired I guess he told Hue to not show up to the press conference since he won't be coaching the Raiders in 2012.

This is a complete shift in culture for the Raiders. The hot rumor is Winston Moss for HC. I expect Reggie to grab some of the guys from Green Bay.

It's ok, this is a good thing. As long as we keep Eliot Wolf, John Dorsey as well as TT, MM and Dom, I have full confidence in our organization to continue winning.

Somewhere the NFL brass is smiling tonight because the dysfucntion of the Raiders is over.

Most penalties & penalty yards in NFL history this year. Also, the Raiders have 7 of the top 10 spots on this list.

Reggie stated this was performance related, not what Hue said at the end of the year.

My gut usually says it is time to eat - and judging by Reggie wasteline, I wouldn't be thinking with my gut.

What a person says is part of their performance. If the words a person uses don't match what they actually do, it is losey performance. At least it is on my job. So while Reggie said that, he was being nice. Those words by Hue certainly did not help him stay employed.

WoW, That's quite a statement. Let's see in three years.

Boris, are you part of this Oakland team!!!

Which is why McCarthy has been preaching about the difficulty handling success. Sounds like Raiders fans are being realistic enough to know that for them it's not worth the effort.

Congratulations to Reggie. He's done an admirable job cleaning up the mess he inherited in Oakland.
