Wayne's agent probably leaked the "Packers plan to call Wayne" info to the media to try and get the Pats to sweeten the deal ever so slightly
preseason on X4.
Wayne offers nothing we don't already have. If they were looking at anybody it would be somebody who can take the top off the D, work the deep boundary. Janis can do some of that but not all of it but unfortunately that may be as close as we get to a stand-in for Jordy. More likely that AR and the offense overall shapeshifts to take advantage of other talents. Like the liquid metal guy from terminator 2.
Maybe not in terms of speed, but Wayne offers A TON of veteran knowledge and savvy that shouldn't be dismissed. Remember how badly Anquan Boldin beat us with the 49ers a couple years ago? Even though Boldin had clearly lost a step, he was/is so savvy that he kept finding the holes in our Zone and getting open. Wayne has something to offer in that department. His kind of experience and knowledge is something guys from Adams down to Janis simply don't have at all. Adams has a season worth of experience, White has some, but Monty and Janis and all the rookies have almost no regular season experience. I'm not saying we should definitely sign Wayne, but he would definitely be an upgrade over everyone behind Adams.
^THIS^
The problem is/was that Wayne caught about half his targets last year, and those passes weren't from an inaccurate scrub.
Wayne signing a 1 yr deal sure reads like there was never really a call from GB.
Jaws: Temper expectations for Wayne
Ron Jaworski told SportsCenter, "I think it'll be tough for Reggie Wayne to make a significant contribution in New England. I did not like what I saw last year on the field."
@jerrythornton1: Now Reggie Wayne finally gets to see where all the visitors locker room microphones are hidden
Don't know much about him except he was a decent player at one time but is Mike WIlliams still available? Thought he was injured last year?
A source tells me Reggie Wayne considered waiting for the #Packers, but the team did not confirm interest before Wayne selected the #Pats.

Skeptical about the interest from the Packers.
Considered waiting, huh.

He's a giant POS.
And he just got cut by the Pats. That didn't last long
My guess is retirement is the next step.
