The talk when he first came here was that he actually hits lefties better than righties.. His splits from 2012 say otherwise, but I think that was the talk when he got here.

Aoki hits better against righties but he's OK against lefties - last year he hit .270
However, his OBP was significantly lower against lefties- .322 vs .372 (righties)

He isn't a good enough defender to be platooning CF, IMO. Plus, Gomez earned the everyday job with his season last year. 770 OPS with 35+ stolen bases and top notch defense.

Well, the starting pitching has not at all looked very sharp two games in. Yes, the Rockies can swing the sticks pretty good, but so can we???? Its not time to start inching towards the ledge, but it is something to keep an eye on early.
Estrada reverts to the guy that was pre-2012 last night. Lots of Ks, lots of hits. The BP threw gas on the fire.
I do think this team needs a strong start to prove not just the the league but to themselves that they can contend. Championships aren't won in April, but they can be lost in April. Play good baseball and it will show in the standings.

Estrada is who he is. He'll give up extra base hits and also strike out a bunch of guys. However, if he can't throw off speed stuff consistently he's going to be in big trouble like he was yesterday. He's damn lucky he only gave up 4 runs because he wasn't fooling anyone.
What's frustrating is that they had De La Rosa on the fence several time but could not deliver the knockout punch.
