I think he would have been wiser to not say anything. Yup, being the other team's QB makes you a target; that's the way it's always been. The greater your effectiveness, the bigger the target. Just be quiet and let your play do the talking. Anything else smacks of sour grapes.

I am beginning to think we have too many guys talking to the media. I'd like MM to put the clamps on everyone and just tell them to concentrate on football.
Yeah, I hope he does not come across as being a whiner. Generally he doesnt, because he is a very smart guy.

Violent hits and punishment is part of the game. That's why I dont buy into some of these concussion lawsuites former players are bringing against the NFL.

But yeah, he could be drawing a bigger target on his back after this airs.

-Clay Matthews on making Rogers happy

Or was he practicing lines to his next Fatheads commercial??
My impression is that it was a drive by piece that tried to appear edgey. I don't know the point of it because it was so shallow and frankly, short. They could have asked questions that probed his in depth thought process, his philanthropic work, etc. Instead we got "GB is a small town". How observant!

With regard to the doucheyness, I am not going to apologize for him. I think Rodgers does not tolerate what he views as poor professionalism at work and poor manners in every day life. His reported short answer interview with NBC at the Texans is an example of the former. He thought NBC was asking stupid questions and he repayed them with short answers. In Tuesday's with Aaron shows he often talks about expectations of peoples behavior. 60 Minutes built an argument that he is hypersensitive and can't stand criticism perhaps suggesting he couldn't survive in a big city. We'll see how that plays out in the aftermath spin.
appears I made a good decision by not watching it. I didn't think 60 Minutes was where an interview with AR belonged in the first place. They're still supposedly a mudraking "news" show, right? Roll Eyes
Not so much raking muck as trying to make anything out of the interview. I find Rodgers entertaining on his weekly radio show, but he's not the most exciting interview. I think without taking the "chip on the shoulder" angle that we all know so well, they would have had nothing to work with.

Also, on Twitter a few of the Packer beat writers - current and former - seemed pretty shocked they mentioned and showed his girlfriend.

This.

I've got no problem with it. I am a fan of the team, not the players. I've never understood fascinations with the individual players. No part of football "coverage" is more boring to me than player interviews.
You all really thought he came off as whiny or a dick? I didn't get that at all. Greg Jennings and Clay Matthews are clowns, seemed like they were using the interview to bust his balls. I didn't get much information out of the interview I hadn't seen in 18 other interviews or pieces on him, kind of generic. He seems like an introvert, can't hold it against him that he doesn't like the spotlight.

??????

Jeezus, That's a little harsh. I didn't get that at all. I'm with Grave Digger on this one.
Who walks up to a professional football player and says YOU LOOK SMALLER THAN I THOUGHT YOU WERE!? I got the impression Rodgers wasn't sensitive about his size, he just didn't want to take picture with an a**hole. What was the next thing out of the guy's mouth HOW ABOUT THIS HEAT AARON! or YOU GUYS GONNA WIN NEXT WEEK? A**hole.
All the great athletes have to find things to motivate themselves, usually some kind of slight or sign of disrespect. Michael Jordan was a master at this. The kid who got supposedly got cut from his high school basketball team (total fabrication on Jordan's part btw). I actually really like this about AR12. I'd rather have a QB using these motivational tools than some other QB monkey-humping his way through his career like Tony Romo.

Agreed, not much drama there. Interview with the fans was stupid as hell though.

I actually thought that short clip seemed canned, basically made up to fit the piece. Even Rodgers reaction seemed BS.
