Jackson's effort looked to be HHCD-level.
Was really good in college, and looked pretty good his 1st yer in Green Bay. Maybe he is using the HaHa plan to get out of town.
Get the trade value while the trade value is goodish.
I thought that kid was gonna be good. He ain't worth a shit.
I’m not ready to give up on him. Let’s move him to Safety and see what he can do. I get that we got two good ones in front of him but depth is never a bad thing.

Yep he really did look fantastic at Iowa. That said, some of his most noteworthy games were facing guys like Alex Hornibrook and JT Barrett, guys who likely will never be regular starting QBs in the NFL. I loved the pick at the time, but it's not looking good for him right now.
Matt LaFleur praised Josh Jackson's development coming off a performance with added snaps. Said he's "excited" about the former second-round pick.

Sunday was easily his best game of the season.
One tackle in 26 snaps, no passes defensed that I can remember.
I think he had a pass defensed called back by penalty.
I'm curious as to how much man to man he played in his rookie year before hitting the pine. That was pretty much his bread and butter at Iowa correct? He just may flat out suck trying to pick up zone schemes.
Isn't this like best day for our punt return team? Just fall forward.
Think his man to man skills worked better in college where the game was a little slower. Bottom line is he's a second-rounder struggling to get on the field.
He’s struggled in man coverage. Not zone.
He's struggled in both.
The Redskins passing game is a low bar, but they weren’t targeting Jackson in the pass game. They went after Tramon a lot and forced the ball to McLaurin as much as possible. Jackson hasn’t done great things to get on the field, but he should consider this game a success and...STACK SUCCESS!
Henry posted:He's struggled in both.
True but he excelled in Zone at Iowa and has struggled more in man
I thought that was his biggest selling point was man coverage. If he excelled in zone at Iowa then he really sucks.
It was opposite. Excelled in zone, reading and reacting off the QB. That's why some, including me, want to see him at safety.
Try to give him some slack this week or longer. His father just died and he stayed in GB to help the team. He's flying home on Tues or Wed to attend his father funeral, which is on Thur.
Pffft, Bert threw 24 TD passes two days after his pop died.
Per Mike Clemens, Packers Reporter, Josh Jackson has fallen behind Kadar Hollman and undrafted S Henry Black. He's been a healthy scratch now even on Special Teams.
Ooof.
Be really surprised if he's back and a change in scenery might be the best thing for his career.

Big Irv, Brandy, Bert, Kiln.....those were the days.
Broken Spoke!

He was a playmaker in college and fell out of the first round because his 40 time was too slow (4.56). A lot of scouts were comparing him to Richard Sherman and Josh Norman out of college. I think his confidence is just completely shot. The last sentence of this scouting report either suggests that Pettine has no idea how to use him or that a bunch of scouts just missed on him.

Strengths
- exceptional ball skills;
- has ideal size to be a press corner;
- very good hands;
- has fluid hips, can turn direction without losing speed;
- reads the quarterback’s eyes well;
- attacks the ball at its highest point;
- excellent in zone coverage;
- played up to the competition, had his biggest games against best teams;
- tackles well in the open field;
- electric with the ball in his hands on returns;
- anticipates routes at an elite level;
- coaches praise his work ethic.
Weaknesses
- played predominantly zone heavy defenses;
- had one year of dominance;
- gets turned around by good releases when attempting to press;
- can get burned by double-moves due to his aggresiveness;
- needs to improve makeup speed.
Player Comparison: Josh Norman
Projection: Late first round
Bottom Line
Jackson put up monster numbers during one season at Iowa but that brings up the following question: is he a late bloomer or a one-hit wonder? His film from 2017 is terrific. He anticipates routes well, has amazing ball skills and does not shy away from a challenge. However, from 2015-2016, Jackson was a non-factor. Despite that, teams should be willing to take the chance on him because corners with his size and his ball skills come once every blue moon. With a coaching staff that knows how to best utilize his talents, Jackson has the potential to be as good as the likes of Norman, Richard Sherman or Marcus Peters with his skill set.

Scouts observing Jackson have said time and again, he's a much better player playing along the line of scrimmage and in the box. He is a physical DB and more then once, he did pretty well as a pass rushing safety. He has no business playing outside CB and has gotten beaten over and over.
I agree Pettine has no idea how to use him. That, coupled with his confidence in the shitter certainly lends as to why he is sitting now behind a 6th round pick and an UDFA.
I agree with @MichiganJoe, he needs a change of scenery.
Peter Bukowski had some interesting comments about Kevin King vs. Jackson on one of his podcasts. I think it was Dec 20 but can't remember because I binged about 4 of them -- LOL

Again....I've been talking about putting players in the best position to succeed. That's coaching.
They don't have anyone else, other than King to play CB, who hasn't been that great at it either. I think Pettines hand is forced right now. Adrian Amos has been playing that pass rushing safety & doing well at it the last couple of games.
The defense the last 6 weeks hasn't been brutal like it was since that Viking game. We all still want improvement obviously.
Let's not forget the other guys get paid too &, just like MLF vs opposing defenses, they're looking to put the Packer defense in bad match-ups too. It's all part of the game, especially when they go "hurry-up" like the Colts did to open the 3rd quarter. Pettine couldn't make any substitutions. It's a common practice across the league. The Packers do it too.
I’m not sure how Pettine is supposed to “use” Jackson correctly? What exactly are his strengths that need to be played to, because honestly I’ve not seen him do ANYTHING well. He supposedly a “Zone” CB that can read the QB and attack the ball, have we seen this happen yet because GB plays a lot of Zone when it’s not King/Jaire in the lineup. Sherman and Norman made their money in press coverage, that’s counter to the narrative around Jackson. People want him to be Micah Hyde or Casey Hayward and he’s just not...those guys truly were underrated and poorly used by GB, but they still made plays in GB to deserve chances elsewhere. Jackson just sucks...it happens.

The biggest thing the scouts seemed to miss on was the comment that he had fluid hips and could change direction. Either they completely missed that or he's so lost right now that he's overthinking every move he makes.
Every time I've seen Jackson, he seems like he's always just a step away from making a play, but he never quite gets there in time. He really looked great his last year of college, though as others have pointed out, he feasted on the mediocre QBs of the B1G that aren't good enough to make it to the NFL. That made him look a little better than he truly was. I know I got fooled, I thought it was a steal picking him in the 2nd round. Obviously that shows why I'm not an NFL scout, LOL.
If Jerry Gray can't squeeze the talent out of him it may not be there.

Between him and Oren Burns I’ve never seen two clowns so completely lost on the football field. Not just getting beat but literally running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
There is no more turd to polish.
I watched his play in College at Iowa. I never saw him make a clean pick, he always was getting ball AFTER it was tipped by another player. When I saw he was drafted in the 2nd round I was shocked.
Ted wanted Tredavius White. But as usual got beat to him by a Buffalo team just 1 slot in front.
Now you know why Gutey trades up. These teams know where players are slotted. Sometimes you need to jump to get your guy.
Obviously a guy like T. White would've been worth it.
Can you imaginie having Jaire & White? Eff me...😕

I only watched him when he played Wisconsin and had the game with two Pick 6s.
One was a clean pick (although a weak throw from Hornibrook) and the other was a ball tipped into the air by the WR.
One-hit wonder. Combination of weak conference QBs and a good year for him. Sometimes it happens when a guy looks better than he really is because of weaker competition even if it is a powerhouse conference, and his college coaches put him in the right position to make him look better than he really is.
Remember, the pros are looking at 21- and 22-year-old kids and trying to project not only how physically good they'll be, but how mature they are, how football smert they are/can become, as well as how life-smert they are. That's a lot of variables and money and reputations riding on young-and-dumb kids. For example, Washington has a mess on its hands with Haskins, who was out partying maskless with strippers the other night...
