Out of how many interior defenders?  What is the ranking formula?  He hasn't had a ton of snaps this season until Daniels went down.  I haven't been able to focus on him in games as I haven't seen much of them since Daniels got hurt.

His snap count increased starting in week 9. He's got about 108 on the year so far, so yes it's not a huge sample.

On the other hand, he's been a healthy 3rd round player all year who couldn't get on the field when Mo' Wilkerson went down in week 2. That Pettine wasn't willing to get him playing time until he had no choice with Daniels injury probably says a lot.

I think Adams will be a camp body in 2019, not like he's costing the team much. But he looks like another wasted pick in the 3rd round along with Ted's other 3rd gems of late:

M. Adams.

K. Fackrell

Ty Montgomery

Khyri Thorton.

Murder's row of suck since 2014

Dean Lowry having a sneaky productive season.

Maybe. And hear me out......Just maybe Pettine is a really good defensive coach and GB cut out Biegel before he received actual direction. Fackrell is the best argument I could possibly make.

**** off Winston Moss. **** off forever.

Agreed.  Since 2nd half of game 2, he’s been solid.  Even flashes in the backfield once in a while.

its no surprise that our run d has improved as he has seen more playing time and Lancaster has seen less.

Contract year does wonders.  See Nick Perry.

Whatever the reason or his motivations he’s been solid and at times decent.  Not sure if it’ll last but their run D is significantly better this year.

It better be adjusted as such or no contract at all.  A couple of decent games in 4 years is horseshit.

Potentially another C. Hunt. Consistently performing is key.

Maybe it’s clicked with him. Sometimes it takes a while. I agree though he’s not one I want to gamble big dollars on, he can get a 1 or 2 year prove-it deal to show he can be consistent.

My concern isn't that "it clicked" rather him making the shame hall of fame with Oren Burks.  How many times have we seen him not just taken out of the picture but just fucking destroyed.  He's like the AJ Hawk of the Dline, he's always 5 yards down the field.

Guy's really only moved from a waiver wire candidate to a serviceable player that flashes on occasion. Doubt the Packers offer much more than an incentive-based deal until he demonstrates some consistency.

Looks like the narrative that Montravius Adams is finally emerging as a force at DT in year 4  as a Packer took a bit of a hit on Sunday.

With the Vikes constantly running down after down right up the middle of the Packer D during Dalvin Cook's record-setting performance, Adams was on the field for a grand total of 6 snaps.

Kenny Clark 46

Dean Lowry 37

Tyler Lancaster 27

Kingsley Keke 16

Montravius Adams 6

Gotta hope Adams is injured (again) because otherwise sitting and watching from the bench while worthless scrubs like Lancaster and Lowry were getting manhandled by the offensive line of the (then) 1-5 Vikes is just not a good look for a former 3rd round pick who is looking to get a second contract this offseason.

Gimme a week with this puke.  He'll be gone.

This chump has shown he's only interested in showing up when the Packers are down and then slowly making thinly veiled 20/20 hindsight observations about posters on this board.

Don't think anyone ever claimed he was emerging as a "force", just playing a bit better.

Not referring to anyone on this board, but this is from October 23:

Defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery on how Montravius Adams is playing lately:

Good, good. To be honest with you I think he's doing some better things. He's showing up, he's doing the little things right, he's playing hard, he's holding point. He had some splash plays in there that kind of showed up. Another one, the ball kind of bounced out or he probably would have had another tackle for loss there.

The Packers have had some real swing and miss draft selections with DL especially DTs. Look over the last 20 years or so:

Bustin Harrell, Jamal Reynolds, James Lee, Donell Washington, Khyri Thornton, Datone Jones; Jerel Worthy, Montravius Adams.

Kenny Clark has turned out and Nick Perry had his moments.  As did Mike Daniels.  Raji was very good.  Kampmann too.  Mike Neal was above average.

Still, you look at more recent draft history and it’s ugly.  Only Kenny Clark.

What was interesting is looking back at how many DL and DBs were taken early just how few LBs and WRs have been selected early.

If the guy is playing a little better he's got to see more than 6 snaps on a run heavy day. He's either injured or they don't trust him at all.

If he is not injured, well then, that's bad coaching as he has been the 2nd best DL on this team.

@Timmy
Or maybe it's possible the packages they used didn't have a lot of opportunity for Adams to play more snaps?

Again, bad coaching.   They just chose to play Lancaster and Lowry more.   Lowry got 37 and Lancaster got 27 snaps.

Maybe Lancaster coming back from injury ? Nice decision making by Pettine/Montgomery ....who cares if Montravious is playing better, gotta go back to what wasn't working(Lancaster) .

Pettine repeatedly using light fronts against  yet another record setting RB is truly damning.

I know WR and ILB have been high on everyone's list to improving this roster. I remain steadfast in that DL was/is the biggest need. "It all starts up front" ... if your DL is good it makes the LB and secondary's jobs that much easier. Gute dropped the ball.

It wasn't just the draft on the defensive side or the inability to sign free agents from other teams. It was player evaluation of the guys they already had.

Somehow, they let Casey Hayward go for 3 years and 16 million in 2016 and Micah Hyde go for 5 years and 30 million in 2017.  Instead of keeping those guys and using the higher picks on other positions of need (DL, LB, and WR), they spent 5 picks in the first three rounds of the 2017-2019 drafts trying to find guys to replace them. They hit on 1 (Alexander), the jury is still out on 2 but doesn't look good right now (King and Savage), and missed badly on 2 (Josh Jones, Josh Jackson).  They then signed Amos for 3 million a year more than they could have paid Hyde. Both Hyde and Hayward have made Pro Bowls since leaving.

I like Bill Huber more than most of the other regulars who cover the Packers. He generally takes a measured pro-Packer stance on things but he is not an uncritical cheerleader.

Given the season grade below I've got to think he has info from the front office that Montravius' time in Green Bay has come to an end.

Montravius Adams

No. 91 with $1,026,194 charge

A third-round pick in 2017 with huge athletic upside, Adams has been a colossal disappointment. He had 11 tackles in 130 snaps in eight games before being shut down for the season with a toe injury. When he plays, he’s a factor. He averaged 11.8 snaps per tackle, far better than Clark and Lowry, and his three stuffs (a tackle at or behind the line vs. the run) was as many as Clark and Kingsley Keke and more than Lowry. The fastest 300-pounder at the 2017 Scouting Combine, Adams’ four-year totals were 44 tackles, 1.5 sacks and four tackles for losses. Three picks after the Packers selected Adams, Detroit landed big-play receiver Kenny Golladay.

Grade: F.

Adams' salary for 2020 was slightly above what the vet minimum is for a 4th year player. If he were re-signed or extended, I couldn't see paying any more than that minimum.
He may have a shot just because that's pretty much the going rate for depth players, but if the team can better use those dollars or roster spot, I don't think he would be sorely missed.
