PS material, especially with increased personnel from 7 to 10.
Agree. He's done basically nothing since the off season started.
Practice squad material in the fourth round is a bad pick, which is what Bradford appears to be at this point.
And Janis in the 7th appears to be a good pick. What does it all mean?
The dreaded 91...they should retire that number and never reassign it. Nice knowing you Carl!
Other players who have worn 91 since Brian Noble:
Shannon Clavelle, Jonathan Brown, John Thierry, Joe Johnson, R-Kal Truluck, Justin Harrell, Jordan Miller.
Oh my God, R-Kal Truluck. I remember Sherman fleeced the Raiders and got 5th and 6th round picks for Marques Anderson.........and then flipped those to the Chiefs for R-Kal Truluck. Sherman went from looking like a genius to complete idiot in about a day.
Brian Noble is the 1rst 91 that came to mind.
And Janis in the 7th appears to be a good pick. What does it all mean?
The world is coming to an end.
Why does it feel like...
... Thompson seems to find the replacement the year before they are needed?
Exit Hawk, insert Bradford. Unfortunately, Hawk hit the wall about 4 months before Thompson figured he would.

I thought he hit the wall a season or two ago. This past season he fell into a black hole.

Based on what? His Schroederness?

Still can't believe this a a pro-football organization's LB core. Is Winston Moss that big of an idiot ? Do they watch film on defending various formations ?? :
Part of the problem was the lack of alternatives. There wasn't a whole lot out there last offseason and they probably did not foresee how bad they were going to be this year, especially later in the year.

Yeah, but the black hole keeps treatng him like a gamma ray beam and spitting him out.
Half the teams have a LB on their practice squad better than Hawk.
Half the teams have a LB on their practice squad better than Hawk.
Yeah, but are they counting 5.1 million against that cap like AJ?
I have never heard of another team's coach coming right out and saying we targeted this guy and the guy just can't play anymore, like the Seahawks OL coach did about Hawk.
Hawk is 2 years past his sell by date.
As it stands right now Bradford is a wasted pick. That's not to say he has no chance of ever becoming a contributor, but for now the Packers shouldn't count on him for anything. This isn't a situation of Ted drafting a replacement a year early, it's a situation of Ted drafting a player to fill a specific role and the guy was such a flop in the role that he was moved to a different position to try to salvage the investment. If Bradford surprises in training camp then good for him, it would be great to find another contributor in one of the weakest areas of the team. But I seriously doubt Ted will be counting on Bradford to be in the inside linebacker mix when he puts together his plan for free agency and the draft.
quantity begets quality through competition
I guess he's the new x4 whipping boy.

Right there, you've just disagreed with the whole draft and develop process. You draft for the future. That Bradford and Janis didn't contribute at all in year one is no reason to give up on them.
Let's talk again after year 3. I do agree though, that we can't rely on Bradford to dominate next year, but we have to believe that he might. The coaches get to see him in training. If he develops enough they might play him. Remember, it took Bishop 3 years to contribute as a starter. He just needed a chance once he develops.

Unfortunately, this has been the story of the ILB position since TT Arrived. Hawk, Jones, Palmer, Bradford, etc. were all originally outside guys. Seeing these guys just think of how terrible Ricky Elmore must have been to get immediately jettisoned.
the one day I went to TC that year I could see Ricky Elmore was a stiff in the first 30 minutes.
he didn't look like he belonged at all and that he was in awe of the situation instead of taking hold of it. one strange pick.
So good players AND bad players fall into TT's lap. Interesting.

Not sure that was a strange pick. Remember how excited we all were about Ricky? He was tremendously productive in college. The NFL is a league for athletic freaks. Apparently, he was just merely athletic. TT took a flyer on a 6th rounder. No biggie.
Have you got a mouse in your pocket or who is "we"
IC = little white mouse
GL = big black rat
"We" is referring to all the yahoos on this board who were acting like Ricky was the steal of the draft.
TT is a great talent evaluator. Even great personnel guys are going to make mistakes. The bigger issue is keeping a guy who you know is never going to be a player just to avoid admitting you made a mistake in drafting him (BJ Sander).
Hopefully, they see something in Bradford and kept him for this reason. Otherwise, they should have cut him and brought in even a cheap street free agent that could have contributed somehow.
I believe the Packers should only draft proven veterans.

We shall see. We haven't seen Bradford do squat since training camp, but that doesn't mean he hasn't gotten better.
I suspect he's done hundreds of squats since training camp.
Podiatrist Bob nailed it
you're an anti-dentite aren't you ?
4th round picks should be starters before they are even drafted.

Well, I disagree. Seems like a lunge guy to me.
Bradford just strikes me as another Winston Moss development candidate. Being slotted a OLB from the start was a waste. Was it preseason when they decided to use his potential on the inside? Maybe he has the chutzpah to overachieve but he may pull the Nick Barnett disappearing act if doesn't have plenty of blockers in front.
It's the lack of awareness by the coaches that just kills me. Maybe they could've gotten something out of Bradford, even on a limited basis, if they had him practicing on the inside from the start.
Agree, a lot of us thought he was drafted as a MLB from the start and were surprised to see him at OLB at camp. Just a wasted camp and because of that I put the blame for the lack of contributions this season on the staff, not him.
I'm not saying he is going to come in and be Ray Lewis this season, but I am saying he could have provided more than Jones.
Yes. The coaches wasted 4 months by playing Bradford outside. A lot of draftniks pegged him as an ILB because he had tiny arms. I'm anxious to see him at training camp.
