How can anyone complain about one of our players being a vocal leader? Hawk and Jones seemed like two very passive, non-vocal players and I don't think ILB  is a position where that flies. Think about the great ILBs in the league or league history, they're all very vocal, emotional players. I'm tired of seeing passive players back there at ILB, I love Barrington's attitude. I love Mike Daniels attitude as well, we need guys who play with passion.
You don't have to be vocal to be great, plenty of guys weren't. Ray Nitschke wasn't running around screaming. Some guys don't need to, but some guys wear their emotions on their sleeve and that's not a bad thing. Barrington needs to back it up, but he's taking ownership of his D and projecting confidence, something I never got the sense Hawk and Jones had much of...just kind of along for the ride.

Bam Bam Barrington is penciled in as one starter at ILB in 2015

The candidates for the other starter/depth are:

Carl Bradford     ( Henry "Hump Day" Jones' 2nd favorite young player)

Joe Thomas

Josh Francis

draft picks

undraf-Teds ( fixed it)

The occasional Matthews @ ILB doesn't change the need for more bodies inside

I'd guess an early pick ( 2-3) and a late pick ( 6-7) and (2) developmental UDFAs

Ray didn't have to scream.  He just growled.  Like during the Ice Bowl when the Defense made the last stop Ray growled at the offense as they ran onto the field, "Now don't let me down!!"   I think they listened.

“Everybody wants to seem to crown me for no reason,” Barrington said.

Not me. I think Barrington needs to really work to win a starter spot. The competition is fierce this year. Bradford and Perry look greatly improved, Ryan looks the part. Dantzler brings some unique qualities to the ILB battle. Then there is Thomas, who also looks good, just smaller.

I dont even even think his roster spot is a lock. Look at highlights from many other star opponents from last year, and you will see a Barrington whiff.

ammo, Ray was one of my all-time favorite Packers.

Barrington was coming on late in the season and it's one of the reason the D started to rise.  He has plenty to improve on but I think his arrow is pointing up.  I think there was a recent article out there that had Dom recognizing his development.  I think his spot on the roster is 90%, chance of starting 75%.  As inexperienced as Barrington is, everyone else is even less experienced and Dom can't have that at ILB.  If CM was forced to spend much of his time at ILB, I could see it but I really don't think that is a preference for anybody.

Personally, I didn't see great development from him. His best games were in big losses to NO, BUF and SEA in the playoffs. Had one PD v. NE. Had one more against SEA in playoffs. 1 Sack v. CHI.

Figure, inability to cover a TE was a downfall of both Hawk and Jones.

I think he is just a guy, with everybody around him competing for the starting ILB spot bigger and improved. He "won" the starting job there because no one else had more than 2 years in Dom's system. I doubt highly that Barrington starts there game one.
