A stagnant offense has allowed the Pirates to tie the score. With a 3 spot in the first the Brewers should have been able to add a few. Every pitcher is always in a high stress situation it seems like.

If a fan goes to a Pirates game their is no excuse if he doesn't walk away with 3-4 souvenir baseballs. That crowd is pathetic.

Especially since the pitches the Brewers faced from the 2nd to 6th innings had ERAs of 4.65 and 6.75. It's not like they were facing Justin Steele.

The Brewers have 8 position players who cost them more than 1 million dollars this year.

The league average OPS is about 740. Of those 8 guys, only Yelich is above average for OPS at the major league level and none of the others are particularly close to being average.

How can you be this wrong about so many personnel decisions in the same year? Caratini is a good back-up catcher and is not a liability, but the others all underproduced.

Yelich is at 26 million and has an OPS of 801. That's OK, but not a great ROI.

The other 4 are

Adames, 693 OPS, 8.7 million

Winker, 567 OPS, 8.3 million, currently on injured list with "back spasms"

Tellez, 681 OPS, 5 million

Anderson, 675 OPS, 3.5 million

Caratini, 701 OPS, 2.8 million

Hiura, 2.5 million, at AAA

Santana, 2.4 million (Brewers portion), 705 OPS

LOL. Brewers get within 5-4 on three singles. They pinch hit Tellez for Turang and he proceeds to hit into a double play.

I'm not sure why you pinch-hit for Turang there (who is also a lefty from the plate). Turang is much harder to double up than Tellez on a ground ball and now you are missing Turang's defense for the final two innings.

I agree on pinch hitting with Tellez. He doesn't even look like a baseball player. It's ridiculous that guys like Canha and Santana can be acquired and are much better players than what was already on the roster. Those acquisitions are supposed to be compliments, not carry the team.

We all like our rookies but guys like Mitchell, Turang, and Frelick are just contact hitters that will be complimentary players. Perkins and Monosterio are just guys passing through that I don't see as part of the future. Monosterio looks good hitting .260 with no power because the guy he replaced set the bar so low.

That is the 2nd time this week that CC went too far with his starter. He left Miley in too long against the Phillies also. He must not trust his bullpen.

Other than Devin Williams and Chafin, the other 7 guys in his bullpen make a combined 6.3 million.

I get that sometimes the young guys give you great value, but they invested nothing in any veteran relief help this year. It's amazing CC has gotten out of the bullpen what he has.

Milner gets 1 million and Wilson, Payamps, Peguero, Megill, Viera, and Uribe are all minimum salary guys (about 720K each).

Of the 11 position players they played today, 6 of them are minimum salary guys (Contreras, Frelick, Monasterio, Turang, Miller, and Taylor).

The problem clearly lies with ownership, many players have outplayed their contracts. In fact, their highest paid players are the ones letting them down.

The fanbase in Wisconsin is incredible, Attanasio doesn't deserve the loyalty. But I'm as guilty as anyone. I was rooting for the Braves in the 60s, moved from WI in 1980, and still follow this team knowing they are at a serious disadvantage financially. And I don't think it's from a lack of money. Now he invested a chunk of money to increase his stake in a soccer team while pleading poverty in MILW.

They’ve all but pissed away the recent winning streak with their play over the past week.  That’s what you can expect from this team.   The starting pitching is really good.  The hitting?  It’s suspect at best.

The shame of this is their top 4 starters are as good as I’ve seen in my lifetime in Milwaukee.  The issue is top to bottom this might be one the worst Milwaukee teams offensively.
