You could look at the Thanksgiving game, getting a quasi bye the week after in early Dec?
Maybe it just means, that we will have to implement better stretching techniques after October.
I too wish the bye was later to give guys who are banged up the extra week off later when they might need it more. BUT, this is the year (knock on wood) that we are fairly injury free because we are due. And, we'll be stretching more.
Never before?

For the first time since entering the NFL in 1921 the #Packers don't have back-to-back road games all season.

Bye after week 3. That's a huge NFL middle finger. Better to go 1-2 and play it conservative and slowly roll into the schedule. Killing the team to start 3-0 accomplishes nothing.
Make the playoffs by any means necessary. finish healthy, finish ready, and win.

16 games.
8 at home.
8 on the road.
I predicted it.
Now go win.

Taking my wife to her first regular season Lambeau game with the Redskins in September. Not sure if home opener atmosphere will be different. Already booked airline tickets and hotel. Two hotel sites are down. Something tells me that it's a big day for those who travel to see a team....
Early thoughts
--Like closing the season against the Bears. Last time we did that (admittedly in Lambeau) we won the Super Bowl.
--Catch a break facing the Falcons in Lambeau. I don't think they'll be half the team they are in their dome, especially in December.
--Fair amount of national TV games (Browns, Vikes, Bears, Gians, Lions, Falcons, Cowboys and Steelers with so many late starts).
--November looks like a brutal month and could be make or break. Hope we avoid injuries there.
--Also probably get a break facing the Redskins early in the year when RGIII, if he comes back, may not be as sharp.

It's always happy hour somewhere.
Ugh....there goes my Thanksgiving, and the bye in the 4th week. Nasty schedule I think. JMHO. Am seeing no Seattle except in pre-season, so that's not bad.
Man was I wrong...didn't think anyway in Hell they'd start us out at SF, especially how last year ended.
We better get some revenge.

If not now (1st game), then when? I like this being the first game.
Looks like a fun season. Win Win Win..

(on opening the season at San Francisco)
βOpening day is always exciting. Playing the San Francisco 49ers is obviously a challenge that we look forward to.β
(on not having back-to-back road games)
βI like it. It gives you a chance to get into a routine of playing at home and then on the road, to get into a flow. Winning on the road is so important.β
(on playing on Thanksgiving Day)
βItβs an incredible tradition, playing on Thanksgiving Day. Itβs a blessing for everyone involved. Weβre fortunate enough to still be home in time to share in the importance of the day.β
(on the long week leading into Week 14 after playing on Thanksgiving)
βThat will serve as a second bye week for us, which you appreciate with the early bye we have in Week 4.β
(on the final month of the schedule following Thanksgiving)
βI think we have a really tough finish on paper with the teams weβre playing down the stretch.β
(on the schedule)
βWeβve known since the end of the season who weβre playing, and now weβve found out where weβre playing them. Frankly, Iβve never looked past the first four weeks, and that will be the same as far as how we prepare our team.β

This. When better to catch the Whiners than when we should be as healthy as any team can be.
Another good break is home game after Monday Night vs. Bears. Also a few extra days to prep for Falcons.
I see a realistic chance of running the table at home with road losses at Whiners, Giants, and either Vikings or Bears but not both.
One other thing, I thought the schedule last season was set so you played division opponents the last 2 weeks, this year it looks like only the last week.
Nick Perry, Meet Mr. Scampernick. Desmond wants a piece of Gore. And Finley should want a piece of the Safety that used to be Goldson, named Dahl. CM3 wants another shot at Staley.... love this opener.
Rosters aside, this opener will be a big time test of the coaches too -
When GB played SF in the playoffs, the 9ers had an extra week to prepare and made very good use of it...
Now both teams have an entire offseason to scheme and we'll see what happens in September
Should be quite a battle

Both teams had all last off season to prep.
You can't win the Lombardi in week 1. But you can go a long way in convincing 53 you can win it.

I fully expect that the Packers will stomp the living hell out of the 49ers in week 1, and while I'll feel good about that, it won't really amount to much. I want to see the Packers beat a team like that in January. They've shown they can beat the Giants in regular season games, but playoff games have obviously been another story.

Don't forget about Da Bares and Smokin Jay Cutler!
I cannot stand playing at Det on Thanksgiving and am sick and tired of the monopoly Det and Dallas have on this day. It must end!
unless of course they win

While I agree it was a regular season game in 2010, that game had "playoff" written all over it. Giants needed it to get in & so did Packers to get #6 seed
Giants | Bears | Eagles | Falcons | Bears | Steelers
Without either of those first 2 wins, we don't make the playoffs & the team knew it, too.
Niners will kill us. RG3 is unstoppable. Cinci will beat us on a last second FG
0-3, then a bye. Great. Thanks
3 Sunday Night games? Unless we get flexed out but that seems excessive. People are going to be like...Packers on Sunday Night again?

Maybe the Pack "schemed" when the Niners were still playing?

Well, they was a certain NYC beatdown last November...
Packers Doomed
The great prognosticators strike again.
"Green Bay Packers β You read it here first: The Packers will be 1-2 or 0-3 going into their bye week and not make the playoffs following an 0-4 stretch from Weeks 14-17. Clay Matthews may have inked a monster deal this week, but he wonβt be enough to halt some high-powered offenses."

Guys on NFL network were pretty funny in talking about our opener...something to the effect "I wonder if Walden is still trying to find out who had the ball"....
laces out has very good drugs but should refrain from looking in the crystal ball when their eyes are so crusty and crossed... sheesus

Never knew "ain't" had an apostrophe. Is it short for ai not... ain not?!
I have a bad feeling that the Niners are gonna hand it to us for the 3rd time in a row regardless of scheme. Obviously need to tackle and protect #12 better in 2013.

If that happens, it is not the end of the world. It's game 1 of 16 and more.
That said, I would hope the Pack competes with them a bit harder than they did in the playoff game. The Pack's defense had the look of a group that semi-quit about midway through the 3rd quarter. I'd hope the Pack could at least compete until the final whistle this time around win or lose.
quote:Seahawks β Richard Sherman and the Seahawks might be having a helluva offseason, but the regular season could be just as rewarding. Talk about a cake walk. It wouldnβt be surprising to see Seattle have a 10-1 or 9-2 start heading into their bye week.
Really? 10-1 or 9-2?!?! Seriously?!?!?
All of a sudden Seattle is a dynasty like the Steelers of the 70's I guess.
We'll see....We'll see.

SF will be outcoached.
RG may not make it out of week one. If he does, so be it. Crappy team.
Packers vs. Bengals. Battle of the gingers, Dalton falls to Masthay.
3-0, then a bye.
where's pablo?
when did the Bengals become champs? everybody talkin' (there's that apostrophe thang again shoeless) like the Packers, one of the best road teams in the game, aren't goin' to stand a chance in game 3 of the season? history, gentlemen, history says look out in game 3.

I completely agree. If it was in GB, I think it would be a dogfight, not so sure if that's the case in SF based on how the year ended. I think SF was clearly far superior at the end of last season. Only time will tell if that changes this season.
Every coach & player will have to be significantly better than they were in the play off game for us to win this....more specifically we must be better prepared for the option & Raji & Pickett can not get man handled again.
They'll need some d-line help to beat the Niners. Pickett and Raji wear down if they have to play too many snaps. It would be nice to see them not get pushed around up front. That would be a huge start.
