11-5
32 games out of Jones and King would be huge. It's not happening but it would be huuuuuuuge.

Practice.

What does being the 12th overall pick have to do with it? If you're on the 53 and don't contribute, that's disappointing.
Adrian Amos. Darnell Savage, Geronimo, Tonyan.
If they are good. Team is good.
If those predicting a slow start are correct, then the Packers are probably in for a long, tough season. Three of their first four, and five of first seven games are at home that means the second half of the season will be travel heavy.
I think to have a successful record, theyβll need a strong* start.
Slow start (or slowish as I went with) doesn't automatically mean starting 0-4 or 1-3 or whatever. They can just look ugly and still win some games.
If Rodgers is healthy then this team is a contender. He took a team, only 3 seasons ago, to the NFCC with a defense ranked 21st in points. If they can get in the top 10 in points allowed on defense then there's no reason we shouldn't go deep in the playoffs, likely a SB. There's talent at the skill positions, bookend tackles and solid interior players, and some serious weak spots on defense have been locked down (namely pass rusher). If we can get 16 healthy games out of Rodgers then 11-5 is definitely realistic IMO.
I like it.
Rodgers throws more interceptions during the first two games than he ever has in a two-game stretch. We all freak out. Then he comes back to almost run the table the rest of the season.
So what you're saying is Bob, is that Aaron Rodgers needs preseason reps?
Dr._Bob posted:Rodgers throws more interceptions during the first two games than he ever has in a two-game stretch.
Favre did it first.
The Vikings are going 0-12.
I figure Cook gets them to 5-7.
8-8...Start playing better down the stretch but miss the playoffs.
Just curious... why 8-8?
Weβll see how things finish, but I think Matt LaFleur might be good at this coaching thing. Itβs clear none of us realized how big of a culture shift weβve had and how big of an impact that would have on performance.

I was excited to just have change this year. I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting some improvement. After 10 weeks of football I am one happy fan. The team seems to actually be a "team". They are having fun (maybe a little too much at times) and they genuinely seem to like each other. Between bringing in the right players and the right coach Gutekunst has done one hell of a job changing the atmosphere in Green Bay.
The stories that came out after McCarthy was fired were a real eye opener as to how shitty this organization got. I was one who was pissed about Rodgers not following the coaches orders. I look back now and who the fuck can blame him? He wanted to win and it was a complete fucking shit show at 1265 Lombardi Ave.
As far as LaFleur, I think he has done a great job. It is refreshing looking back at all the ways this offense has produced points. He looks at the opponent each week. He doesn't just think what has worked will always work. He changes as it is needed. I'm happy as hell he is in Green Bay.
Sure, there are things that need to improve in order for them to be champions, but I sure as fuck like the way they are going. If you aren't enjoying this team being 8-2 you should probably go fuck yourself.

Still got a shot at this.

As for the season I am going with will go with 10-6 and I think they will lose a couple of close games and could easily be 12-4. I think they will be way better than many fans seem to think and are reading too much in to preseason.
Why will they stake a step?
The angry bald man actually has some talent to work with and if they stay healthy this defense is going to make a big jump. So my biggest surprise is how much the defense will improve.
The other big improvement is going to be the running game. MLF is one to actually run the ball and won't be trying to be cute like MM used to be and abandon the run.
Biggest disappointment? to me the biggest disappointment will be if this team is ravaged by injuries again.
The biggest difference being they have so far won a couple of games they could have easily lost instead of the other way around.
Otherwise, some spot on prognostications in here.
A lot of that can be credited to game mgt and clock mgt by MLF. Save for the time he passed the ball from the 1 yard line early in the year. But... he learned, and now Jones is leading the league in TD's.
Talent goes a long way toward making a coach look good, but listless talent with no leadership or culture will take you to 8-8. I suspected, but I didnβt realize how bad the culture was until the Smiths took over. This team has a different feel than any weβve seen in GB since 2010 and they may not win a SB this year, but they are truly at most 1 or 2 players away. The frustrating thing is I think leadership and accountability are truly what has held this team back, we possibly win SBβs in 2014 and 2016 if we had Z Smith setting the tone and keeping the family together.
Ded, you forgot LaFluer not kicking FG at the half last week.
I don't think kicking the FG was the only correct move there. I liked that they went for it but they needed to spread out the defense and have Adams and Jones in the game. I would have been OK with them just taking the 3 points as well.

First sentences are spot on....
Glad it worked out like it did because the severe roster deficiencies got fully exposed.
You say it like there are 31 other teams that could do what SF did. Think Seattle didn't try & do that? They don't have the OL. Staley missed half the season. He was nice & fresh for NFC CG.
Lots goes into it. It isn't like the other 31 teams are fucking Stoooooopid & SF is full of jeenyouses
michiganjoe posted:Glad it worked out like it did because the severe roster deficiencies got fully exposed.
Me too. They clearly aren't a Super Bowl caliber team with the current roster. A loss in the Super Bowl would hurt a lot more than this loss. It was a hell of a year, but they need some upgrades. The Packers weak spots were totally exposed.
They are headed in the right direction which is all I wanted this year. Just think of last year. They were headed in the WRONG direction. The direction changed quickly and I expect more this offseason. Go Packers!
Easy to fall into the trap after the first SF drubbing that it was just an off-night for the Packers. It wasn't, and they need to approach the Niners level if they want to win a SB.
michiganjoe posted:Glad it worked out like it did because the severe roster deficiencies got fully exposed.
Who wasn't already fully aware of them?
michiganjoe posted:Glad it worked out like it did because the severe roster deficiencies got fully exposed.
Says something about the coaching doesn't it.
They were exposed against a very dominate team but yet were able to pull off multiple wins, with defense nonetheless, against above 500 teams.
So which is it? Completely shitty coaching with a joke of a scheme or severe roster deficiences that got them to the NFCCG? Or maybe it's coaching that couldn't adapt for all rosters deficiences against a team with little to no deficiences.
Doesn't make the coaching completely shitty and a joke nor does it make for "severe" deficiencies on the roster. It makes for a whole. Especially in a year most thought would be a rebuilding year. It's still was a rebuidling year and that rebuild continues. Pretty fucking impressive considering.

To be fair, the Vikings are stupid.
