Sink the Pirates Thread

This is important outing for Myers as the Brewers need to decide on who (other than Peralta) is going to start the first three games of the playoffs. A good outing by Myers probably makes it more likely he's the Game 2 starter.

Typical line-up for today's game:

Why doesn't Murphy have Haase DH?  He hitting over .280.

Crew leads 4-2 after 5, Tobias pitched 4 innings.

Crew top of 7th, bases loaded, no outs, time for the kill shot

Sanchez has 4 hits in his last 41 at-bats with one extra base hit.

Bauers is 19 for his last 120 at bats.

Isaac Collins is 1 for 10 since getting called up.

Those are supposed to be the guys you will use as pinch hitters in big spots in the playoffs.

Brewers up 7-2. Phillies trailing 10-4 in the 8th.

Myers with a typical outing lately. Not terrible (2 runs in 4 innings), but not great and you can't trust him to get you to at least the 6th inning. You can't start him in a playoff game unless your bullpen is well rested, because you know you'll need a lot of innings from the relievers.

Honestly right now I don’t see any starter that you can expect to get more than 5 innings from.

No real stud starting pitchers.

Really only 3 good offensive players (Chourio, Adames, and Contreras).

They do have perhaps the best collection of defensive players the Brewers have ever had at one time, but even with that, Murphy has to be the manager of the year.

For anyone that thinks Mark A is cheap - the Pirates Rowdy Tellez was designated for assignment 4 plate appearances away from earning a $200k bonus.

Casually watching.  Did some Pritate fan kid just lose Hoskins' HR ball to some grown ups?  Man, I hope not.  Kid looked to be crying while fattie grown ups seemed to be "authenticating" the ball.

I attended a lot of games in 1991 and 1992.  A lot, both as a worker and a fan.  Never saw Surhoff sign for a single ask.  Fuck that guy too.

Brewers back to be impatient at the plate. Ortiz hit the 1st pitch for the 1st out and Chourio hit the 1st pitch, which looked to be a ball for the 3rd out.  Come on guys, work the count a little. They will be a quick out  in the playoffs if they swing the bats like that.

Another piss poor showing from the offense. 1 run on 5 hits, and only 1 walk.

I know they’re locked in as the three seed, but sleepwalking headed into the playoffs leaves me scratching my head. The Brewers aren’t a good enough offense, especially without Yelich, to think they can just flick a switch.

What happened to the days they used to always beat the Pirates?

5-2 now after Mears relieves Civale and promptly gives up a walk followed by a 2 run HR.

And the Crew wins 5-2, Civale with the win, WIlliams with the save.

Nice to win the series. Now bring on the Mets tomorrow.
