+ The genius of Joe Barry was finally unleashed today.
Tua “Tonga Tonga Tongavailova” was so confused by how out of position everyone in our secondary was, the sheer shock forced him into interceptions on three straight possessions to close the game.
Ugly win. The Fins were not impressive. I missed some of the game- did Rudy Ford get hurt?

+ the odds of us making the playoffs, and crushing the dreams of Cowboys fans everywhere once again (with a little help from McStupid Face) have gone up exponentially in the past 24 hours.
+ Even if it's short lived and not fully meaningful, from 4-8 to making a couple teams earn their way in isn't as bad as it's felt every week.
I gotta say, the only thing worse than watching Davante last night getting zero opportunities to help his team is probably being Davante right now. Aside from the blame game, it looks like 12 and 17 still being in GB would be a whole lot better for everyone.

Davante has still had a pretty damned good season, but the Raiders are a dumpster fire. Carr is a big step down for Adams. Adams caught only 2 of 9 passes today, and Carr tossed 3 picks.
Also, earlier in the year, I wanted to blame some of Rodgers’ issues on a lack of top receiving talent. Veterans on their downside, and very green rookies, wasn’t a recipe for success.
But #12 has just not played well. I don’t know if he’s in “steep decline” yet, as Howie Long said. He is still capable of making some brilliant throws, and has. He just seems…off this year. I’m hoping the thumb is really distracting, because he’s inexplicably missing some wide open reads a second year starter should nail 9 times out of 10, and a 4x MVP missing those is inexcusable.
Maybe it’s Rodgers’ ego looking for more, and not wanting to settle for the check down pass. If so, MLF needs to get in his face. But those short completions would sure help to sustain drives a hell of a lot more than the hero balls he’s been throwing.

Agree. Rodgers is on the downside. He's still very, very good, but he's no longer the superstar. He's missing throws he used to make in his sleep, e.g., the Watson misses. He was late to read and throw in the RZ when he had Lizard open at the goal line and then tried to force it on a second read. He's either trying to go hero or he just cannot react as fast as he used to do.

The short passing game has been hideous all year. Swing passes and wr screens only work in small doses, and it seems like MLF is on his heels when they lean on those plays. Rodgers mechanics have been awful most of the season, and it really shows on those outlet and checkdown throws.
Whether the thumb is an issue or not, 12 has missed far too many intermediate and longer throws this year. I think he was spooked early today and was feeling ghosts. Even when he had time, he either got jumpy on certain throws or just missed them. At 39, if you're losing effectiveness, thumb or no thumb, it will have to be addressed.
"Just move the chains" should have been plastered on everyone's forehead in training camp. The offense has looked better, but they have periods of stagnance this season that are just befuddling at this point. The same mistakes and wrong routes and unforced errors every single week. It makes me wonder-had they been able to keep 17, and had established Nixon early on rather than Amari-where would this team be right now?
I mean, the NYG have won 8 games this year just by not hurting themselves. There's nothing impressive in the way they play. Yet here we are struggling to reach .500 and maybe claw our way into a 1st rd loss in the playoffs.
20-10 late in the first half, Pack has not stopped Miami yet & Phins are driving when #90 Jarran Reed not only strips the ball from Mostert but recovers the fumble as well.
Easily the play of the game.
Reed also had a sack.
Reed & Slaton both had big run stops in the 2nd half as well.
Oh, and Devonte Wyatt forced Tua throwaways on back to back plays that led to the long missed Miami FG in the 3rd quarter.
Kenny Clark finished with an assisted tackle.
Dean Lowry did not record a stat before leaving the game at the half with an injury.
Turnovers are the great equalizers .... watched the game with no sound, was Jones hurt? If not, no way Dillon can get more carries than Jones. He would have scored on the last drive play where Dillon went down by a guy getting a finger on his shoe string.
Didn’t watch pretty much any of the game as family was over for Xmas but I’ll trust the Rodgers feedback. Got several texts about 12 missing guys wide open and hasn’t it been that way all year?
It’s a fun story that GB is still alive but this team isn’t scaring anyone.

This game was a huge game for GB but this team and season reminds me of the year 87 was hurt in P/S. Rodgers was tentative all season and the offense was a dumpter fire. McGinn was quick to say Rodgers was in a steep decline and when M3 was crapcanned a couple of seasons later everybody thought12 was a one season place holder and yet 3 seasons later here we are. Is 12 slipping? some I am sure but dangerously I dont think so. Next year will tell but I am curious did anybody notice how GB reshuffled the secondary as the injuries' stared?? I noticed Savage and Douglass playing safety but where was Amos??

Amos gave a weak effort on the Waddle catch and run for td. He hasn't had a good year, like many of his teammates.
I would love to see two things next week against Minny.
A clearly-visible sign for Packers players exiting the tunnel:

Secondly, I’d love to see some fire from MLF on the sidelines. I like him….a lot, actually. But sometimes, too often, he seems like a bit of a deer in the headlights.
If Rodgers is barking at him on a play call, I want to see MLF bark right back. Toss your headset. Hell, channel your inner Tom Brady, and fling a tablet twenty yards downfield.
He can’t be worried about being everybody’s buddy. Sometimes, you have to kick your diva Hall of Fame quarterback in the ass, and tell him, “I’m the boss.” And if Rodgers doesn’t do what the BMOC says, bench his ass for a series.
Favre’s best years….by FAR, came when Mike Holmgren reigned him in. It’s not at all lost on me how many parallels there are between Favre and Rodgers. Well, LaFleur needs to show the diva who the alpha dog is.
The only way this team rebounds, this year, next year and beyond, is if MLF grabs ahold of the wheel.
+ 2nd half defense. Zero points and three ints. If they give up 20 points/game, the Packers should win every game. They won’t because the offense sucks, but Barry’s unit deserves credit today. I have no doubt that they’ll fuck it all up next week, but good job today.
+ Lewis came to play today.
+ Douglass. Heads up play on the int. and it was good to see that he learned from last week’s lateral mistake.
- Rodgers. Taking sacks instead of throwing the ball away, missing open receivers, wasting timeouts…..every game.
- Glass Joe Watson. Huge potential and he’s fun to watch, but he’s not going to last long if he can’t stay on the field.
- Red zone field goals.

WTFuck is Joe? That was a hard hit and for whatever reason Lafleur always shuts him down after a big hit.
This was a must-win game for the Packers. I’m tired of seeing Watson on the sidelines. Yeah, the kid could be special, but not if he’s so fragile that he’s on the bench at crucial times. Doubs, on the other hand, I think is going to be a consistently productive Packer for many years.
And how many times are we going to get into the red zone only to have penalties move us backwards?
And I want to see more passion from the players, whether on the field or the sidelines! Show us some heart, ya filthy animals!
The Packers won today because Tua was awful. You can't overintrepret everything else.

I don't think he wanted to be on the sidelines. MLF seems to be overly cautious with players even if they are just "nicked up". Dillon is a really good Packer, but Jones does everything better, when it comes down to "must win" Jones needs 75% of the snaps, regardless if he isn't "100%".

I agree with you, but I think that last pick by Rasul Douglass was fantastic instinct and recognition on his part. I can see why Tua thought he would complete the pass, he didn’t expect Rasul to come off his own guy at a perfect moment. Timed it perfectly to give help and ended up with a great game sealing INT.
