Watched a bit. Love the pace.
When people could get games on TV, I would almost always DVR it and watch when the kids go to bed. I could watch a game in about an hour.
But going to a game? Nothing wrong with sitting at the ballpark for 3+ hours.
MLBTV is up to $140 for the year, but thatβs basically a buck a game and I cast to my tv and/or phone.
Watching that game was a lot different with the rules changes. The pace is much better and not allowing the shift opens holes in the infield. Schroeder made an interesting comment about the shift. A team actually can shift but however they align their defense on the first pitch is the alignment they must use for the entire inning. Also stepping off the rubber or throwing to first a third time during an AB is an automatic balk. I had the big C-band dish back in the 80s and had some marathon watching days. Day games east coast 10AM, west coast 1PM, east coast night game 4:30PM, west coast night 7:30PM. I could get every game that was televised, many were raw feeds where you could hear the announcers converse instead of commercials. It took them awhile to figure out that their conversations were being listened to. Harry Caray before the post game show, "tell them to hurry up, I've got to take a piss." There was also a transponder that showed highlights for all of the sports channels to copy and use that showed EVERY run that was scored in every game.
Nice win yesterday. After being down 4-0 Brewers score 10 unanswered and win 10-4. Some of the young no names and some for the young names keep getting hits. Milner and Strezelecki got lit up pitching but the rest did good.
It seems like all their top position player prospects are outfielders. Perez was very highly ranked until a few others passed him. Still a top prospect just more competition. How about finding a 3B?
Yelich leading off for today's game.
After watching Yeager throw a couple times it looks like the Brewer might salvage the Hader trade. It's Gasser and whatever they got from ATL now.

It's not that what they ended up with from the Hader trade was bad (Contreras ultimately plus other players).
It was the timing of the Hader trade. They gave up on a season when they were in first place on August 1st.
I agree on the timing, I hated it and the message it sent. But can you imagine if all they had to show for Hader at the end of the season was Gasser and Ruiz? Contreras could be a starter for 10 at a hard to fill position so that salvages the compensation part of the deal.
Beat the Scrubbs today 6-3. Anderson, Tellez and Toro hit dingers, Toro as a pinch hitter. Frelick had 2 more hits today, now batting .571 for the spring. Going to be hard to send him to AAA if he keeps hitting like that.
Great problem!
Scrubbs fans would be preparing for a world series
Can Frelick play RF? CF is Mitchell's job to lose, and Winker and Yelich are strictly DH/LF.
Iβm really liking Frelick.
I see Cory Ray is a free agent. No draft like the MLB draft
I want to see Brice Turang turn it on
How has Yelich looked so far this spring? I haven't been able to really start following them yet.
He's only played in one game, Feb 28 vs. Cubs. Went 1 for 3 with 2 Ks.
First pitch, the old Yelich.
Crew had 13 hits, 2 each by Yelich, Anderson, Contrares, and Adames. They should all make the team. However they also had 14 Ks, mostly by guys who won't make the team. Burnes started and went 2 1/3 innings and took the loss. The only reason he started the 3rd inning is because he only threw 19 pitches in the first 2 innings and Counsell wanted him to get 20-30 pitches in the start. He did have 2 Ks in the 2 good innings.
Gasser had a bad day. Probably a bit nervous and feeling the pressure.
Two scoreless, hitless innings with two strikeouts for Freddy Peralta in his first Cactus start. Midseason form.
Brewers playing longball now. 8-2.
3 run home run, and I get to hear Bob yell "Get up, Get up, Get outa here, Gone"
Someday I'm going to really miss that
Freddy Peralta was just telling us how much he loves Bob Uecker. Will Freddy will have Ueckβs energy when heβs 89? pic.twitter.com/B28tGHNvVQ

Not a good day today. Lost to ChiSox 5-2. Most of the would be opening day starters didn't get a hit and Burnes and Strzelecki got lit up. Only good things were HR by Mitchell and Wiemer.
Some good today, some bad. The good, Yelich with a 1st pitch homer and another hit. Wade miley pitched 2 innings and had 5 strike outs. Fastball freddy went 2.1 innings and had 4 Ks.
The bad. Freddy gave up a homer and 2 ER in his 2.1. Ethan Small gave up 3 hits and 2 ER in his 1 inning. Winker and Voit went 0-7 in their at bats.
Was there any sign of the grass growing?
Yelich is killing it when it doesn't count.
I'll take it

Haven't watched, but he is driving the ball better?
SLG 1.167. I'd say he is driving the ball better.
Does Huira have any options left? I can't see him making the team or even having a future with the Brewers for that matter.
I read Huria is out of options so he will make the Opening Day roster. That is until he is traded or released. Toro has options remaining tho.
Spring Training seems to favor the hitters more than pitchers. The ball typically carries further and pitchers are testing out stuff.
The good news is Peralta seems to have regained velocity. Based on reports he was running it up there at 96 so thatβs encouraging.
Huira doesn't really have a position if Voit or Miller are on the team, I doubt the Brewers want his defense at 2B with Urias likely to play a lot of 3B with Taylor out. Miller offers better defensive flexibility and is a RH bat that can actually hit LH pitching.
Mostly good today. Crew 12 Guardians 3. Woodruff goes 3 innings, gets 4 Ks but gives up a run. Brosseau had 3 hits including a homer and 4 RBI. Contreras went 2-2 and Jackson Chourio got in the game and went 1-2. Brewer hitters only had 5 K but 3 of those were by Huria. He is now batting .118 for the spring. PackerRick may be right, Huria might not make the team.
I honestly thought Huira was going to win a batting title when he came up. Good kid. Damn shame.
What happened to him?
