@jasonjwilde: We interrupt this @BretBielema discussion for some not-so-good #Packers news on @James44Starks:http://bit.ly/QG3MfB

Another one bites the dust..

assuming he's put on IR that'll make 6 starters on IR. 11 total; including 3 RB's.

I'm gathering that the injury is not to his ACL and may not require surgery but considering there are only 4 weeks left it will probably end his season.

You have to be kidding me. Is this some cruel joke? We finally have day where they run the ball like an above average NFL team and then BAM, injury to the starting runningback. This has been a cruel year for the Packers.
Figures, just when something starts going right, something else immediately goes wrong. Jennings is back, Nelson goes out with hammy. Running game takes off, Starks is injured...

However, Starks could never/should never be counted on to play 16 games. Just too unlucky with injuries, going back to college days.

Thinking TT is going to have to spend 1-2 draft picks on RB's--without an injury history in college-- next year, in addition to o linemen. Who knows, this next year's draft could be reverse of this year----all offense.
Could DuJuan Harris be to the 2012 team what James Starks was to the 2010 Super Bowl team?

Please tell me "yes!" I SO want to believe! this is unreal. I think both myself and
Jerron McMillian can agree that there is indeed a conspiracy against this team. Clearly someone has it in for us. My theory: the Giants and Bears somehow planted someone in the Packers cafeteria who is using some nefarious form of biologically toxic substance which weakens the body and makes the player more prone to weakness and injury.

Sorry, that's the best I can do.
Well, Arod will just have to do it by himself. That is all there is to it. He better start playing better. He may have to run more. Hell, I remember a play where from college where he threw teh ball and then went and blocked down field for the guy. He just has to do more. Throw it, catch it, block, tackle----Some players put a C on their uniform for Captain...I think Arod can put an S on his uniform cause he is Superman. He is going to prove it the next two months.....

Not to be a downer, but AR will have to play like Superman to take his team to a Super Bowl. Injuries this year make 2010 look like nothing.

Yes. I'm 100% positive it's their fault.

Yes. I'm 100% positive it's not their fault.

The amount of injuries we've accumulated isn't coincidental. The strength and conditioning coaches are definitely at fault whether it be a little or a lot.

Clay has a hammy injury (which he has had off and on since his first year),Woodson breaks a collarbone, Benson has a lis franc from a tackle, Bulaga dislocates his hip while trying to avoid falling down, Bishop tears his quad making a tackle, Perry injures his wrist tackling, Shields sprains his ankle making a tackle, Smith injures his knee on a block, Starks gets hit in the knee.... I could go on....

Yeah, I see your point....it's the conditioning coaches fault

So, how did they avoid them last year?

Just a quick spin around the league from the last week...

MIA:
put Jake Long on IR today

DET:
put Titus Young on IR today

CHI:
may have lost Urlacher for the rest of the season

NEP:
WR Julian Edelman is out for the season.

CAR:
The Carolina Panthers placed defensive end Antwan Applewhite and free safety Sherrod Martin on injured reserve Tuesday

HOU:
Houston Texans have placed cornerback Brice McCain on injured reserve
Injuries happen. Detroit lost two of their top three WRs just this past week.

The Steelers have probably had as many injuries to key players this year as the Packers.

Chicago took a beating on Sunday.

The Starks one sucks because he and Green actually looked like they were giving GB a competent running threat. Oh well, time for the next person to step up. That's life in the NFL.
Well, the Packers seem to be at about a 2 starters per game injury rate. With 4 games left that means 8 more starters will be going down (last week was 3...so hopefully its not a geometric progression).

With 24 (starters.....including kicker and punter) that means if anything less than 1/3 of the players go down the Packers can consider themselves lucky.

Wish people would quit blaming the strength & conditioning coaches. From the Press Gazette

quote:
During the Packers’ 11-minute drive for a game-sealing field goal in the fourth quarter, Starks was hit on his right knee by Vikings cornerback Josh Robinson during a run

That's a moronic take.
