What about---

Ken Anderson, Boomer Easion, and Dalton (looks promising)

Right now the 49er's are the only team that can trot out 3 HOF'ers.

Some may say Brodie doesen't deserve to be in, but I would say he certainly deserves it as much or more than Namath.

Right now I think the only teams that can be in the discussion as orignially started by BK are

The Packers, the 49'ers, the Raiders, the Giants and the cowboys.

I doubt any team can match the Packers in going from Bert to AR12 or the 49er's with Montanna to Young. The Dolphins come close with Griese to Marinio
When it's all said and done, only the Green Bay Packers will have 4 Quarterbacks in the Pro Football Hall of Fame:

Arnie Hebner

Bart Starr

Brett Favre (everybodys whopping boy)

Aaron Rodgers

Case closed GBP has the best of all time.
Cowboys: Staubach, Aikman, Meredith
Redskins: Baugh, Jurgensen, Theismann
Eagles: McNabb, Jaworski, Cunningham
Giants: Manning, Simms, Conerly
Vikings: Tarkenton, Culpepper, Kramer
Lions: Layne, Landry....uh, Layne again?

Etc., etc.

Lots of teams have had three very good QBs in their history, but some haven't even had that much. None have had three that each won a championship and were MVP.

Not much question that GB has the best top three, and Herber, Rote, Dickey and Isbell don't make a bad 4-5-6-7.

Your asking the wrong guy, I'm a big Lynn Dickey fan. The guy was extremely talented and would have been great had he been on a team with talent and stayed healthy.

That said, Theismann was pretty darn good. (better than ammo's Billy Kilmer).

Pretty good third guy on the Skins QB list as he won a league MVP and has a couple super bowl rings. Let's not forget his work in the CFL either

Right, and let's not just presume Rodgers is automatically a lock for the HOF. He's well on his way, but a LOT can happen between now and when his career ends. Ken Stabler did everything Rodgers had done to the same point in his career (more, actually), and he's not in.

He's not, huh? Individual stats are nice and all, but let's not fetishize them too much, especially considering the passing game in Stabler's day was nothing like it is now.

Let's look beyond those at each player's first seven seasons, keeping in mind that Stabler, like Rodgers, barely played in his first three (and that under the playoff system of 1976, the Packers wouldn't have even made the post-season in 2009 or 2010):

Winning percentage: Stabler .798, Rodgers .662
Playoff appearances: Stabler 5, Rodgers 3
Playoff wins: Stabler 6, Rodgers 4
Pro Bowl appearances: Stabler 4, Rodgers 2
Super Bowl wins: 1 each
MVPs: 1 each

If anyone ever appeared to be in the fast lane to the Hall of Fame, it was The Snake. Point is, it doesn't always turn out that way.
The Snake also played in a different era where the WRs could be mugged, the OL could be head-slapped and the QBs got their asses kicked regularly

Can't really use stats across eras IMO
Stabler put up some really good numbers at a time when mauling recievers was encouraged. If not for one of the the worst non fumble calls in playoff history (skip to the 8:22 mark):

Stabler would have played in another SB. The Steelers kept the Raiders out of the SB (like a lot of other good AFC teams) as well. That loss to the Broncos essentially ended Madden's career. After Madden retired the Raiders handed the job to Tom Flores. A great coach but he wanted no part of Stablers reckless ways. So Stabler was traded for Dan Pastorini. That trade basically ended the careers of both guys.

Point is Stabler was a lot better than he's given credit for.
ARZ - Warner/Hart/Lomax
ATL - Bartkowski/Ryan/Vick
BLT - Flacco/Boller/Dilfer (not inc Clev)
BUF - Kelly/Ferguson/Kemp
CAR - Delhomme/Beuerlein/Newton
CHI - Luckman/McMahon/Cutler
CIN - Anderson/Esiason/Palmer
CLV - Graham/Sipe/Kosar
DAL - Aikman/White/Romo (honestly, Staubach won more but numbers...)
DEN - Elway/Morton/Plummer
DET - Layne/Stafford/Danielson
GNB - Starr/Favre/Rodgers
HOU - Schaub/Carr/Rosenfels
IND - Manning/Unitas/Jones
JAX - Brunell/Garrard/Leftwich
KAN - Dawson/Green/Kenney
MIA - Marino/Griese/Fiedler
MIN - Tarkenton/Kramer/Culpepper
NWE - Brady/Bledsoe/Grogan
NWO - Brees/A. Manning/Hebert
NYG - Simms/E. Manning/Conerly
NYJ - Namath/O'Brien/Todd
OAK - Stabler/Lamonica/Plunkett
PHI - McNabb/Jaworski/Cunningham
PIT - Bradshaw/Roethlisberger/Stewart
SDG - Fouts/Hadl/Rivers
SFO - Montana/Young/Brodie
SEA - Hasselbeck/Krieg/Zorn
STL - Everett/Warner/Gabriel
TAM - Testaverde/Dilfer/Williams
TEN - Moon/McNair/Blanda (inc Houston Oilers)
WAS - Theismann/Jurgensen/Baugh

Not intended to be in ranking order, just top 3. Interesting stuff from my list...

Warner and Dilfer on the list for 2 teams. Could easily make the case to put Cutler on Denver's list as well.
All 3 Seattle QBs have GB/Wisconsin ties
Indy's stacks up about the best to GNB I'd say. SF pretty solid.
Washington, Cleveland, Buffalo, NYJ, and Oakland without a QB that has played in many years.

My bad...I guess I did not get the memo on what stats we were cherry picking.

Silly me I thought you were comparing quarterbacks...

Can't use stats - can't use records - can't use much. The older I get....the better I was.

Bummer. All the cool kids got the memo. Better luck on your next message board

I think YA Tittle belongs. Three straight NFL championship games before the Super Bowl era, league MVP once and HOF member. Didn't do a whole lot before coming to NYG from San Fran, so I'd bump Conerly with YA.

Agreed. It's not even close to the same game.
CAPACK

Pretty decent list, but I got to disagree with it being all about the numbers, one does need to consider the most important numbers--wins and playoffs.

I would leave Romo and White off the cowboys lits and put Staubach and Mereith on it. IMO Romo is the most over-hyped player in the NFL for the last 4-5 years.

IMO Norm Snead should replace Cunningham, Dan Pastroni would replace Blanda, and Frank Ryan would replace Sipe.

On a sidenote the greatest backup QB ever has to be Earl Morral.

Starter for the full season (replacing Unitas) in 68 for the Colts leading them to the SB and winning the NFL MVP. In 72 he started 11 games for the Dolphins (Griese injured)in their undefeated season, winning AFC player of the year and NFL Comeback player of the year in his 15th season.

Trivia: The fumble that wasn't a fumble was recovered by former GB #1 draft pick Mike McCoy.

I was. Let me know if you need me to spell it out further.
May God have mercy on your soul.
Agree that Starr/Favre/Rodgers looks to be the all time best combo.

Hard to believe 20 years ago yesterday was the day that Ron Wolf pulled the trigger for Favre. Wow, it just doesn't seem like 20 years ago but it was.
... and I along with my roommates in college at the time all said, "Who?" in response to news of the trade.

Funny - ATL wound up using that first rounder on the immortal Tony Smith, who was actually a teammate of Favre's at Southern Miss.
