It's obvious that OSU is going to be a national championship contender for a long time - as long as Meyer stays. As likely as it was that he took advantage of the same type of FSU police-university collaboration while at Florida to keep some very questionable characters eligible (Harvin, McDonald, Hernandez, the Pounceys), the guy can coach- especially QBs. Meyer made Alex Smith the first pick in the NFL draft, Chris Leak win a national championship, Tim Tebow look like an actual QB, and now has won with three different QBs in the last two years at OSU. Each OSU QB has looked like a Heisman candidate.

At least Bucky is in the Big 10 West where they can get to the Big10 championship game and have a chance to spring an upset against OSU, Michigan, or Michigan State.

Finally, all the Big 10 really needed to get back to national prominence was to get some marquee coaches. Meyer, Harbaugh, and Dantonio are all top 10 NCAA coaches.

Well, Urban Meyer's dum dum O$U recruits will be so much better behaved than his Floriduh ones, because they play in the B1G. 'NUFF SAID.

When the new Cam Newton steals a laptop, it will be for going to class, not watching porn.

The new Aaron Hernandez's gun shots will cause mere flesh wounds, not life threatening injuries.

...And the new Tebow will throw at least as well as a girl and be 3 times less irritating.

GO B1G. SEC sucks!

Great win by my Buckeyes.  Maybe now the Big Ten can get some respect but probably not.  One more to go on the 12th.  OH...IO!!!

Mark May, you're still an a-hole.

Obviously I'm not neutral. My team is an SEC team so I think it's usually the top conference. I'm sure there were people saying the B1G was "behind the times" or super weak, but that doesn't mean it was the general consensus among all fans/talking heads. It was the bandwagon fans who were screaming that stuff, the same people who instantly became FSU fans a year ago and are spewing Oregon love right now. I think most knowledgeable football fans took the B1G seriously, how could they not with all the talent it sends to the NFL annually. The SEC went on an unprecedented national championship run so I think it was only natural that the media gave them the benefit of the doubt when it came to the rankings. I think the B1G also got a bad reputation because they've had pretty weak records after bowl season the last few years with the top teams, like Wisconsin and OSU, failing to deliver in big bowls. Then with the scandals at OSU and Penn St., two of the traditionally top teams, how could you consider that conference a major player compared to what the SEC was doing over the same period of time? Any objective football fan would have said the SEC was the better conference at the time. That's not being a snob, it's just the reality of where college football at the time. Things change in college football though, it was inevitable the SEC would go through a drought after having so much success and it was inevitable the B1G would find success after a drought.

I just think it's funny that Urban Meyer was a scumbag when he was at Florida but now that he's representing the B1G he's just kind of annoying. I'm sure Jim Harbaugh won't be considered an unbearable jackass any longer either. Urban will always be a rat, Harbaugh will always be a jackass, Saban will always be an enormous asshole, etc. I will always root against the shady characters in college football regardless of what conference they are representing.

Why are you clinging to the strawman regarding Urb?  Reading this thread, it seems like everyone who spoke to it said that they still think Urb is a dirtbag, and you can put me on that list as well.  I'm guessing he'll build a juggernaut for a few years, but as soon as his tallant level slips he'll experience another 'health episode' and retire.  Harbaugh is still an a-hole and always will be.  I don't see anyone changing their opinion on that.

I think what this all shows is that the coaches are the stars of CFB as much as anyone, and a lot of these stars are people you wouldn't consider good folks in general for one reason or another.

The B1G, regardless of who's been doing it and even considering the fact that much of it was deserved, has been getting sand kicked in its face for a long time.  The conference is finally starting to show some signs of life - UW over Auburn, O$U over Alabamuh, and that crazy M$U/Baylor game yesterday were big for the conference.  Add those wins to the fact that the a-hole Harbaugh is going to bring Michigan back to what it was and the future actually looks pretty good for the B1G.

Mostly because I haven't gotten into a big argument on here for a while and I'm bored. Also I've taken sh*t on this board for being the fan of an SEC team citing the dirtbags like Urban Meyer as the reason for loathing the SEC in general. I feel justified heaping on the sh*t because now he apparently has been downgraded to a mere annoyance because he's in the B1G. I'm sure Nick Saban wasn't a scumbag either until he starting coaching for LSU.

You can root for whoever you want. Urban Meyer showed what kind of program he runs while he was at Florida and I have no respect for it. That doesn't mean I hate the players themselves, certainly there are guys who appear to be good guys and I want them to succeed individually, but for me personally I don't want to see coaches like Meyer or the program he runs succeed.

GD, you need to put down the shovel and stop digging that hole you're in.

A lot of people don't like the SEC because they feel they are overrated. They are probably the best conference, but they are still overrated, media darling and it gets sickening. It doesn't have anything to do with the coach or his personality.

Bielama was a dink and very unlikable but I still cheered for Wisconsin. Urb is a sleaze but I still cheer for the Big 10.

You sound EXTREMELY butthurt and the deal with making everything about who coaches what team is very weak.

I don't know if I'd call Saban a dirtbag but he's got an ego the size of Texas and it's always good to see guys like that get their just desserts from time to time.  By the way - he did coach at Michigan State and I'm not sure his personality has really changed all that much since bailing for L$U and then Bama- and the Dolphins somewhere in between.

The real winner in all of this is Jim Delaney.  Talk about a guy getting the last laugh.  He's been lambasted and lampooned for years and with Harbaugh joining UM and the conference kicking ass in the bowl season he's probably sporting a bigger smile than the damn Cheshire Cat because he knows it won't be long before the BT is back on top as the premier conference in the country.

I'm not digging a hole, I start these discussions every year. It's so easy to poke the B1G homers. I do enjoy the Urban Meyer irony though. Saint Urb is here to save the B1G. Watch out for Penn St., that loud mouth POS James Franklin will have them back in a short amount of time...he got Vandy to 9 wins which is almost unheard of.

SEC has been dominant. First time in a decade they won't be playing for a National Championship.

Have been arrogant too. Not just by the bandwagon fans either. Comments like those made by Auburns RB about Melvin Gordon getting his yards against weak opponents are only a small sample. What you think now punk ?

Sounds like Urban Meyer used the Wisconsin victory over Auburn as a psychological motivator before the Alabama game yesterday : SEC can be beat : http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/0...ational-championship

“So, there’s no doubt that when we saw Wisconsin beat Auburn, that was a major, major moment for us getting ready for this game.”

I just enjoy watching Oregon's offense work.  And I despise O$U.  It's that simple for me.  I'll cheer for just about any other Big Ten team...except O$U.

Speaking of college football...please don't tell my Chryst is bringing Pitt's special teams coach with him.  They just gave up two onside kicks in a row to Houston.

CAPackFan95's least favorite college football teams. In order of most hated to least hated

1.  Notre Dame - The Chicago Cubs of College Football

2.  Duke Basketball - Duke Sucks

3.  The Axis of Evil starring Hitler and 84 Hitler Robot Clones - Killed millions of people.  Still better than Notre Dame or Coach K

4.  Iowa  No explanation needed

5.  Auburn.  Pick a ****ing nickname already.  Eagles, War Tigers, Ligers, Inbreeders.  I don't ****ing care, but pick one.

I was about to turn that game on in the background while I work.  Then I checked the score and saw it was 28-0 with 12 minutes left in the first half.

Oy.  Never mind.

You don't want to watch the second half of an Iowa train wreck?
