touting the immense stupidity that is wittle richie's brain, he's such a moron that he puts his thoughts out on record both in voice and in typed format.  NEVER LEAVE A PAPER TRAIL!  dumbass.  the depth of stupidity, besides being a racist scumbag - both he and his daddio, is breathtaking.  both of those hateful gasbags can **** off.

All these dipschit pro athletes need to be banned from from any/all social media. When they get the urge to say something stupid they should have to write it down on a piece of paper, put it in a bottle, and toss it into a library.

Nobody ever goes into libraries anymore.

Difference being I'm right and not defending the POS I spawned.

from BSPN:

The irony is Incognito was part of Miami’s six-player leadership counsel this year. He was expected to set an example. The sign on his locker in recent weeks that read, “There are two things Richie Incognito does not like: Taxes and Rookies” now has a lot more meaning and context. Martin was a second-year player but claims to have been harassed since his rookie season.

yeah, nothing like hating on the new help who are only here to try and make the team better.  I hope Philbin is learning right now.  There's no way I would allow one of my six "leadership" players to display a sign like that.  What's the point?  To prove you're an intolerant POS?

I could be way off with that.

You're probably right. I can't imagine why he'd lay down $15k on a trip that he wasn't even going on otherwise. Ingocnito (possibly others were involved) was probably blackmailing him or something along those lines. It's not like Martin wasn't big enough to fight Incognito, so there must have been some angle we don't know about yet. We already knew Ingocnito was a POS, but this just takes it to a whole new level.

Sources: 'Rookie Tax' at the Heart of Miami Dolphins' Jonathan Martin Hazing

bleacherreport.com

By Mike Freeman on November 3, 2013

This comes from a Miami Dolphins player in a brief interview with Bleacher Report:

"Some of the criticism is unfair. Some of it fair. No one has been physically bullied. I haven't seen it. Where things went too far was with the money."

...the core issue isn't necessarily about physical abuse—though that could still be an issue—but something else: money. More specifically, what some players around the NFL call a "virgin tax."

Miami rookie players, I'm told, have been asked to pay for everything from dinners to grocery bills. According to the Dolphins player, several rookies were jokingly asked to make some mortgage and car payments, though it's unclear if either of these were actually made.

And when there are five or six veterans at one position imposing their will on one man at the same position, it's nearly impossible to fight. That is where the rookies rely on the humanity of the veterans. That compassion may have been missing with the Dolphins. continue

Philbin, not a fan.

A kid with poor genetics, raised in an environment that reinforces negative behaviors and promotes emotional stunting, goes on to become a life-long football player. Over the years he develops CTE, and the lesions on his brain further impair what was already poor judgment and cognitive abilities. His injuries manifests as a disability, and as he begins to grow more alienated from a world he understands less and less, he turns to drugs and alcohol to cope.. This brain-damaged, pill-addled alcoholic now suffers from steroid rage that is all-consuming; his friends enable his behavior because he is so rich.

I’m not saying this excuses Richie, but the dude is probably functionally retarded. He can be suspended from the league, but he couldn’t be legally executed in Texas.

This says everything you need to know about Jeff Ireland. He is Richie Incognito. We are talking about a GM who asks players if their mothers are prostitutes. That team will not win until they are under new leadership.

He was a major asshole in college, too. Most of us knew guys like him growing up, he just happens to be one of the assholes who never had to grow up or be put in a position where he would be put in his place.

Ex-NFL QB Gannon recalls scaled shakedown of rookies

by Tom Pelissero

11/04/13

Former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon says reports of alleged financial hazing of Miami Dolphins rookies didn't surprise him -- he recalls an Oakland Raiders locker room in which veterans shook down rookies according to how high they were drafted.

"I almost got sick to my stomach at how bad it was," said Gannon, who signed with the Raiders as a free agent in 1999.

Because of what he saw, Gannon says, "I have a very strong take on bullying."

Gannon said the responsibility to stop hazing of young players by veterans falls on the head coach.

"When I came to the league in 1987 in Minnesota, I thought it was a very dysfunctional situation. I said if I got to that situation I would change that. Then, I went to Kansas City where I didn't see any of it. Marty Schottenheimer created a great situation where older guys mentored younger guys. continue

Schottenheimer always seemed like a pretty fair guy.  Was happy for him when MM won the Superbowl after being one of his coaches.

Schottenheimer used to be on NFL Radio and was always very respectful of everyone who called in, even the  ridiculous guys.

Report: Coaches wanted Incognito to toughen up Martin

profootballtalk.com

Dolphins guard Richie Incognito’s treatment of tackle Jonathan Martin came at the behest of a coaching staff hoping to make Martin tougher, Salguero predicted that, if that ends up being the case, a lot of people will be fired.

A lot of people apparently will be fired.

According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Dolphins coaches asked Incognito “to toughen up” Martin after he missed a voluntary workout during the 2013 offseason.  Kelly cites “at least two” unnamed sources.

Per the unnamed sources, Incognito may have taken his orders too far.  Specifically, the sources tell Kelly that the racially-charged voice message from Incognito to Martin came after skipped two days of the team’s voluntary OTA program.

“Incognito was encouraged by his coaches to make a call that would ‘get [Martin] into the fold,’” Kelly reports.

Dave Zimmerman. Milwaukee Riverside High School. Class of 1976. Pretty sure he manages a Burger King these days.

The parts yet to come out are: Which coaches supposedly asked Incognito to do this; does it extend to Philbin or was it position coaches or...? Did they specifically tell Incognito to call Martin racial names and threaten his family (my guess is no on this one; Incognito just took the opportunity and ran with it)? How does what Martin was asked to do (i.e., paying $15,000 for the trip, the other times he was asked to pay) compare to the other young players -- was Martin tabbed for more and/or for a longer period of time?

My understanding is that MM and his staff makes sure every player is treated as if they are a pro from Day 1. I hope that is true.

Even though Kelly’s report focuses specifically on communications occurring in the offseason, it’s quite possible that the effort to toughen up Martin was as extensive as the cinematic effort to “train” PFC William Santiago.

Above is from the PFT article. Made me laugh even though it isn't really funny

Coaches "encouraging" a player to "motivate" another is nothing new. I'd also bet the pressure to get a player to report to camp, get involved with team activities, or on the field gets passed down from the top; how could it not? It just increases a bit with every step down the ladder to the position coaches.

Not just McCarthy but Sherman and Holmgren also IIRC.

Not sure rookies liked being drafted by a Forest Gregg-lead team though.

How messed up is this?

“Another former Dolphins employee told me Martin is considered ‘soft’ by his teammates and that’s a reason he’s not readily accepted by some of the players, particularly the black players,” (Armando) Salguero wrote. “His background — Stanford educated and the son of highly educated people — was not necessarily seen as a strength or a positive by some players and it perpetuated in the way Martin carried himself.”

Let's be honest. The issue isn't Richie or Martin. The issue is that locker room is full of questionable character(s) and no real leadership to keep things clean and in house. That's on the GM and coaches for not having the pulse of the team. We know Richie is a hot headed D-bag. It sounds like Martin may not like football very much and thinks pretty highly of himself. This story never sees the outside of their locker rooom if there's any real leadership though.

And if it's true that the coaches go to guy is Richie Incognito to help get a guy in line you're pretty much screwed 6 ways to Sunday from the get go.

Incognito is a POS. We all know that.

Here's where we start hearing the rest of the story. The more I hear, the more I'm inclined to say "toughen up buttercup"

Word coming out from ALL the Dolphins players, of all races makes it seem like Incognito is a good teammate and Martin was rather sensitive and aloof. People are overeacting to the use of the N word. His teammates don't seem all that concerned about his use of that word, unlike the Eagles when Riley Cooper was busted using it.

No doubt, Richie is a dirtbag, but on a poorly managed football team like the Dolphins he appears to be the gold standard.

1. Insist on being outraged as much as possible.

2. Jump to conclusions to support or increase the outrage.

3. Move on to the next item of outrage before all the facts can come out about the previous reason for outrage.

No kidding. Its like an epidemic or something

The NFL has long had an issue with this stuff at various times/teams. Wasn't Cam Cleeland (former TE with the Saints in the Ditka years) beat up to the point of almost losing sight in his rookie year?

*edit* Yep, quick Google and the LA TImes did a recent story on it even.

M&M were talking this morning about a police report filed on Incognito last year at a Dolphins golf event. Apparently he was using his golf club "in a suggestive manner" on a female volunteer, rubbing up against her, and other nasty stuff including knocking the sunglasses off her head with the golf club. The interesting thing is that at least one top Dolphin official apologized to her, and she told police then that she only filed the report because Incognito wouldn't apologize. If this is true, management heads will roll in Miami...
