If you are hosting or attending a bring a dish Super Bowl party please share ideas. We are lucky that all of the kids will be hanging with us and having a 'Super' party. Jello shots are out this year. The Grandkids are getting too old to see Grandma slurring her cuss words.

We are doing a cajun theme with our food selections. Cajun bbq shrimp with green french bread. Crawfish Etoufee in a cream sauce over lightly tinted green rice. Slow baked baby backs, some with standard maple bbq sauce, others with Shut Up Sauce bbq. Nachos with greens like jalapenos and green'n gold bell peppers to garnish. Hot wings are a necessity. Only green and yellow M&M's. Lemon and pistachio cupcakes with numbers frosted on them. There may be one unusually large cupcake with a 90 on it.

House decorred in lots of Packer colors. We got a huge Packer banner a few years ago which will be foundation. While in Nawleans I scored many green and gold face shields and beads. Also will be setting up a green and a gold palm tree. One of the hermit crabs is sporting a green shell with a yellow #12.

Finally always be careful to hydrate properly.

I am thinking brats, ribs or pizza. Something easy. I wont be able to eat during the game anyways...too nervous. And I dont want the distraction of having to prepare and cook while trying to watch the TV. Maybe have a beer or two depending on how the game goes.

There's a new butcher shop that just opened up here in our neighborhood. They have great big brats. The other day they had the best slabs of pork ribs I have ever seen. No fat. Just trimmed pink meat. Compared to what we see in the grocery store, they are worth the extra $$.
Jalapeno popper dip with dipping bread to get a little fired up in pregame.

Slow cooked ribs in the oven first then seared over the grill for 10 min before eating.

Make some marinated ribeye steaks thin cut and slice them up and serve in crock pot with tooth picks for a snack.

Plenty of Miller Lite and Spotted Cow on hand for before, during and after.
Won't be able to eat during the game. Too nervous. So the neighbor and I have decided to do a huge breakfast / brunch with Nueske Bacon, a mountain of poatoes with peppers and onions, and probably some sausage. At halftime I'll throw down some meat and cheese and try my best to ignore the Black Eyed Peas debacle that's sure to take place.
Chili cookoff amongst about 6 couples.

I'm bringing 2 varieties. A standard beef, no beans Texas style. Just a touch of heat. A pork based one with some macadamia nuts and hotter than hell using smoked habaneros, anchos, and chipotles. If I can find ghost peppers I will replace the habeneros. The nuts thicken it and you'd never know they are there.
Spare ribs - home made brown sugar and lemon BBQ sauce(I agree - fat = good when it comes to ribs)
Stuffed jalapenos - I do them stuffed with cream cheese ,sausage and wrapped in bacon
grilled asparagus - brushed with 50/50 soy sauce, olive oil, sprinkled with kosher salt and sesame seeds
sweet potatos with cinnamon brown sugar butter
might do a stuffed sausage roll too. Stuffed with string cheese, chopped onion a little oregano and maybe some chopped pepperoni then wrap the whole thing in bacon.

All done on the grill with chunks of hickory to add smoke flavor.

Reuben dip sounds awesome !
The purrrrrfect cake for a fun party. Smiler

Buffalo Chicken Meatballs

1 pound ground white meat chicken
1/2 small onion, grated
2 cloves garlic, grated
1 T dried parsley
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Wing sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken with the onion, garlic and parsley, and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Roll into small balls. I fry them in a little oil until brown with a little crust (all this can be done ahead of time, refridgerate your balls until you need them- like Kiel!). Toss in wing sauce (you can make your own with Frank's hot sauce and butter) and throw them in the small croc for people to eat as they please. The weaker of the heard can have some blue cheese if they like.
Habanero Green and Gold

Β½ cup finely sliced dried apricots
ΒΎ cup white vinegar
30 oz. chopped pineapple (grilled and charred works nice)
1 finely chopped white onion
1 finely chopped seeded green bell pepper
2 finely chopped seeded jalapeΓ±o pepper
1/2 to 3/4 cup finely chopped seeded habanero peppers
2 cups granulated sugar
1 pouch (3oz) liquid pectin
1 tsp salt

In a bowl combine apricots and vinegar. Cover and let stand at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Combine peppers, apricots, and pineapple. Stir in sugar. Over high heat, stirring constantly, bring to a full rolling boil. Stir in pectin. Boil hard, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Remove from heat.

Quickly pour hot jelly into jars, leaving ΒΌ-inch headspace. Wipe rim. Center lid on jar. Screw band down until resistance is met, then increase to fingertip-tight.

Place jars in canner, ensuring that they are completely covered with water. Bring to a boil and process at 10 lbs for 1 minute. Remove jars, cool and store.
Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

1 16 ounce jar sauerkraut, drained
1 8 ounce package low fat cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
2 Β½ cups shredded cooked corned beef
ΒΌ cup thousand island dressing
1 tsp onion salt
1 tsp garlic salt

In a slow cooker, combine the sauerkraut, cream cheese, Swiss cheese, corned beef, thousand island dressing and salt. Cover, and cook on high for 45 minutes if you’re in a hurry low for longer or just until hot and cheese is melted. Stir occasionally while cooking. Serve with cocktail rye or crackers

You've got some nice sounding recipes I will be trying. For super bowl, same recipe as the NFC championship game. Grilled chicken wings. Grilled over lump coal. Its a great formula because I grill them for an hour, that allows the perfect amount of beer intake to start the game.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

1 8oz Package of Cream Cheese
1 12.5 oz Can of Cubed Chicken Breast (drained)
