Jennings came in motion to the same spot and ran the same route on his first TD as 3rd and 10. Aaron read the same coverage when Greg went in motion. Troy was held just enough outside based on two receivers outside Greg running dig routes. Great prep. Great execution.

I have the game on DVD.  I watch it occasionally.  There were 2 plays that made that game closer than it had to be.  They were passes that went thru WRs hands.  One was to James Jones, and the other was to a receiver running down the near sideline as I was watching it.  Both were probably TD catches - if made.  If the Pack had capitalized on one of those the game ending drama might not have been necessary.

It's interesting how many themes that ran through the regular season reappeared in the SB (injuries, drops by WR's, D stepping up, prevailing in the end).

The game thread was more thrilling than the video, probably because I've seen the video so many times, though most of the action was probably on the game day chat session.  This needs to be reposted:

Met some guys the summer after, staying at same beach hotel as us, noticed I was wearing a Packers shirt & struck up a conversation. Three of them attended the SB . None of them were Packer or Steelers fans. Their take on the game was simple, AR was much more accurate hitting open receivers than Big Ben was.

I am currently reading "Closing the Gap" by Willie Davis, a great read so far.  Anyway, I became interested in the 1961 championship which was a little before my time, and came across this recently posted gem.  Man how times have changed.  Enjoy!

Positives:

1. Ray Nitschke.  I think this kid is going to be good.

2. Established the run early, which allowed Bart to manage the game.

3. Championship!!!

Negatives:

1.  Not a single challenge by Lombardi, but luckily we didn't need it this time.

2.  Lack of replays and ZERO explanation of penalties by the refs.

3.  Should have gone for two on the third TD.

I didn't know Boyd Dowler also punted.  Big kick into the wind.   Better than Chandler's with the wind, too yet.

McGee also did some putting as well.  But Dowler would shank one every once and a while.  McGee just wasn't good enough.  Later, Don Chandler who was PK & P for NYG that day would join the Packers in the same capacities.
