The Niners did not play a flawless game by any stretch. They had a couple of killer turnovers, they didn't get enough pressure on Flacco and the SF special teams were far from special.

It's interesting just how much of an impact Justin Smith has on that D when he's healthy. Aldon Smith is not the elite pass rusher when the other Smith isn't eating up blockers. Those SF backers can't freelance as much either and for the most part Baltimore controlled the tempo.

If not for the outage it is likely a B More blowout
Coaches like a whiney 13 year old
"Baby" Harbaugh has been a clown act all season longing attempting to get game officials to throw a flag on the opposing team by his childish antics. In the 2 games the PACKERS played the niners they were the worst D guilty of "holds" on nearly every play verses the PACKER receivers. The niners did this "aggressive play" as it was called by the media in every game. "Baby" impudently displays this in the last play of the game. Then questions the fairness of the officials in post game interview. Classy? NOT.

Our of the four plays, how many would have been quick hitters to Kuhn?

I was thinking the exact same thing...nothing more infuriating than that quick hand-off to Kuhn in just about any situation. I was beside myself when they ran it twice in three plays against the Vikings in the playoffs and had to kick a FG.

Two plays I would run if I were GB in that situation:

1) Isolate Jennings on right side...set up slant and then let him run under corner route. Seems like worst case should be a blatant holding penalty

2) Go four wide (with Finley one of the four) and Cobb in backfield. Read the LBs and either target Finley or Cobb out of backfield.

On the play before the Timeout, I don't know if that would have been a sure TD. They blew it dead and threw a flag for delay of game, so I'm not sure how much to read into it...then they gave the TO to San Fran. If they weren't planning to run those three plays, frankly, the extra five yards of space may have helped them in the passing game + they would have had the extra TO in case they failed.

thought the same. Jimmy Harhar outthunk himself quite a bit yesterday. instead of whining on and on about the refs he shoulda been spending some serious time at the mirror.

The quick-hitter to Kuhn is at least a tiny bit better than that stupider shovel pass we always used to do. At least the shovel pass finally left the inside-the-five playbook.

The poor play calling on that series was terrible. I think Jim Harhar was harkening back to his days under center. He didn't use Gore, he didn't roll out CK, etc. Bust. Credit also has to go to the Ravens. According to MMQB, they sold out on the blitz in order to get CK to throw because they were more confident they could stop him in the pocket than out of it with time, and that he would hurry his throws under pressure. Good D play calling to put it on the line and succeed.

Kaepernick said he changed the 4th down play at the line---That brings to 5-the number of truly horrifying plays he put together...He's young and he'll get better-which is frightening-but he is going to lose some pretty big games along the way.

The complaining about the last call was disrespectful in lieu of the fact that there was not a single holding call, only one pass interference call and an incredible no call on the late hit out of bounds on Flacco.

The ball was uncatchable and to rely on the refs to win your games.... is to lose.

I can't help but think that Harbaugh didn't have Gore run the ball because he had fantasies of Kaepernick being the hero and justifying Harbaugh's decision to start him. Not necessarily a thought out choice for that reason, but just an emotional nudge in that direction. Hmm... "emotional nudge" might be an apt description of Harbaugh himself.

Yep now when the Packers win the Super Bowl next year they'll have the best SB record with SF.

On the one hand, the Packers already have 13 NFL titles, which is far more than anybody else.

On the other hand, Pittsburgh has 6 Super Bowls.

Yes, but Pittsburgh have 2 losses, smart ass.

Ready for Pep?
The USGA rules allow a player to carry no more than 14 clubs during tournament play.

I count 12 clubs in Jimmy's bag. So there's a good chance there have already been some casualties. Like maybe this club...
