Isn't all this shaping up like Hawk is going to make a signature career game saving (and possibly season saving) play sometime in the next 2 months? Thats really the only way Hawk puts a final stamp on his GB career.

Then Ted drafts two ILB's in the draft because it's rediculously deep and that is that.

I can't see Hawk going anywhere next year. Jones, bye-bye. And if Lattimore can't stay on the field, he's on notice as well. I think they keep Hawk, but put him in only a backup/coaching/mentor role. Even if TT drafts a couple of ILBs, it's not like they will immediately grasp the system. Barrington is just hitting the field now, and yes, he's had some health issues, but it's still been more than half a year this year before he was able to get on the field.

If they do release him it would only save about 1.5 Milliion.  Jones is gone.  Cutting him will save 3.75 Million.  Add it up and we can jettison 5.25 Million worth of suck next year. You can also add Lattimore to that suck pile, an additional 1.5 Million.

Obviously you would have to fill those roster spots but you could get that production from undrafted free agents for a fraction of the price.

I think they draft a ILB and go with a combo of Barrington, Mathews, High Round draftpick, Maybe Bradford or UDFA. That would free up about 4.5 M for Bulaga, Cobb and Tramon.

AJ Hawk is the unholy union of Jarret Bush and John Kuhn and I don't see a roster without him soon. If used like those two, special teams, emergency/spot duty and good locker room guy, with a modest salary I can see TT holding on to him for a few more years.

"If used like those two, special teams, emergency/spot duty and good locker room guy, "

He is way too slow to be used on special teams.   Emergency spot duty guys should't get paid the kind of money he makes.   Good locker room guy has value, but they also need to be able to contribute something on the field.

I'm sorry, but Hawk needs to hang em up.   Even with all the lost weight, he is just painfully slow.  Combine this with his timid approach or poor reaction time and you have a guy who just can't compete in the NFL anymore.

Could not disagree more.  The very nanosecond they put a decent football player in the middle, the entire defense does a complete turnaround.  This is not going to escape the powers that be on this team, and with no upside, he's a waste of a roster spot.

Time's up and everyone knows it.  Time to move on.

Sounds as if he may have another groin injury.

I recall him running slower than Karo syrup when he played with the original one.

Hawk has a base of $2.45 million in 2015, plus another $1.05 million in roster/workout bonus.  His dead money is $1.6 million if he's cut.  That's a savings of $3.5 million.  How can he stay????

Good. They should have cut him years ago, so it'll be nice to finally see this team officially turn the page at ILB.

Yesterday Hawk showed real class declaring his demotion a "non-story" to the press and trying not to detract from the team's goals.

I may not admire his play, especially lately, but I do have more respect today for his character.

AR says he's playing hurt.

Regardless, I know alot of people don't like Hawk, but if you would tell me that you would get 6-7 good years out of Hawk I would take it, and twice on Sunday.  The guy is a football player, and a class act, and has been available for 9 years.  Vernon Davis hasn't even been as available as much as Hawk.  The top 10 picks in the 2006 draft, 30% of them aren't in the league, and a couple of others have been signed and cut my multiple team recently.  Point being, we should be happy to have Hawk!!!!

I don't think the Hawk haters question the draft pick, I know I don't.  We question sticking with him this long.  That said, he has been a model Packer off the field.  I hope he retires after this season as a Packer.

The man has always been a class act.

It is no wonder that he is revered by the folks where he came from.

Sometimes it is just too bad that "people" are evaluated in accordance with their on field achievements.

Bless you AJ, you will always be a Packers to me.

And, a great person!
