Well, Fightpho93, your friend might have been upset but I saw plenty of people holding that banner/whatever smiling and looking thrilled just to be there.

Some people will never be happy no matter what. I actually feel sorry for them. I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I think he probably enjoyed the day too, but he definitely didn't appreciate the flag change.  Like I say, I can't really relate to someone getting upset over something like that, but he apparently isn't alone.

On another note, I was at the Bears/Packers opening night and whatever types of military jets did the flyover that night... loved it.... brought chills and I even shed a tear it was so awesome.  That was my first game at Lambeau in about 10 years so I think I appreciated everything a little bit more.

Mrs. Timmy! has participated in a couple of Atlanta Braves opening day ceremonies where they held a giant American flag on the field, represented the 50 states, and other patriotic themes.
The first time was an enjoyable experience for her; the following year was polar opposite and rather disappointing.

I've never understood the pomp and circumstance. To me, honor guards presenting the colors and playing the National Anthem are things that local VFWs, Boy Scout troops, and the like should be doing. No need for military jets, grossly over-sized flags, or hundreds of people trampling the field before the game.
Unfortunately or otherwise, it's completely forgotten 5 minutes after it happens. Excepting the people that feel a need to share their opinion with the world and letting social media decide what is "good" and what is "bad", thereby creating "outrage", demanding heads roll and changes....

So you guys like the A-10 and AC-130?

A few years ago the A-10 needed a new wing because the original one was fatiguing.  That isn't a surprise given what they ask it to do.  I had a chance to go work on the new wing but turned it down.  The T-6 Texan II trainers also have had some issues as well.  It is more lightly built than something like the A-10, but the maneuvers I saw them used for on a day to day basis really pushes the limits on the airframe.  And there are structural patches in places when you see them up close.

Navy at Air Force this Saturday.   I've seen these fly overs and watching the cadets marching n and heading for their seats is always fun.  And for those he need patriotism and flags there will be plenty in evidence.  I was fishing in the mountains yesterday and met a gent from Virginia creekside , he is here for the 55 class reunion of his Academy class!

Some pretty good football to.
