So, do you think Kansas will lose "style points" and drop in the committee's eye since they had trouble on the road against s mediocre Texas Tech team today?

The committee and the pundits rely on history and recruiting classes when the results on the court are inconclusive- it just shows that they don't really think highly of the Wisconsin program. Oh they'll pay it lip service- talk about Bo Ryan and now Gard and the great job they're doing... but in the end they won't validate the program unless they beat the usual suspects at their peak. When they're down and Wisconsin stands alone, they get no benefit of the doubt.

It just proves that Wisconsin, in spite of all they've accomplished, cannot penetrate the bias that the pundits show. They don't recruit sexy players, they aren't one of the ESPN darlings... they're still just "Wisconsin".

Good points all.   Agree that it is early.    Also agree it seems the Badgers aren't running on all cylinders.   Some ugly wins.

But even friends of mine out here (non-Badger fans) were stymied by the lack of respect given by the NCAA.   No B1G teams at all in the top 16?   Oh, I know why....since it's Wisconsin all alone in 1st Place, it must mean the B1G is having a down year, huh?  Same ol' crap from the national media.  I don't think its' bias, even Jay Bilas said it was crazy that the Badgers were not placed.

Hopefully, Gard quietly reminds his players about it and makes them have to prove themselves the rest of the way to Phoenix.

Bilas is all in on the Ethan Happ train.

Big Ten is down, I'm not sure why people are bent out of shape over that comment.  Top 10 teams shouldn't need OT to beat Rutgers and Nebraska.  If Bucky were playing like they were a month ago, I think they get more notice, but they are banged up and it is showing on the court.  They really need a blow out win where the starters can rest.

Bucky plays a great team game, so they certainly look like a team that can get to the Sweet 16, but if guys don't get their legs back, it will be a tough road.  Of course it is the tournament, one guy playing out of his mind can end your season.

Been fun to watch these guys though.  Excited to see Pritzl get some play, watch Trice play real minutes as a freshman.  Should continue to be fun.

I do  think Purdue is the best team in the big ten.

What committee is this about?

NCAA MBB selection? I didn't think they did their job until selection weekend, so where's the bias?

They released their top 16 to date: http://host.madison.com/sports...a7-093ef328ac77.html

From the article:

"Here are the top 16 seeds, in order: Villanova, Kansas, Baylor, Gonzaga, North Carolina, Florida State, Louisville, Oregon, Arizona, Virginia, Florida, Kentucky, Butler, West Virginia, UCLA and Duke. "

Butler and Florida State both lost. On that alone they should be in (they have to win today of course). But the discussion has merit, and hete's why: the Big Ten is down, but the Badgers have one loss and they're 20-3 and. I believe it's an indication of what we always see when it comes to the Wisconsin program. Standing alone they're still given no benefit of the doubt. And all it will take is one slip and they drop like a stone.

The Badgers have overachieved so far to this point. This is not a team with future NBA players on it like we had a couple of years ago. It's a team with a bunch of good college players who don't generally beat themselves and play fundamentally good basketball. They don't have the talent of a typical 1 or 2 seed, they are more in the 6-9 range.

This is more of a Mike Wilkinson/Bruesewitz/Jordan Taylor/Keaton Ninkevil/Ryan Evans type level of talent than the Frank/Sam teams that kind of spoiled us. This team isn't as good as the Leuer/Butch/Stiemsma teams in terms of talent.

They'll end up something like 25-8 going into the tournament and may win a game or two there. I think we should be satisfied with that. The only way that flips is if someone emerges to take over games. I don't think it's going to be Happ or Hayes. Koenig is really the only one with that potential because he is the one player they have that can get his own shot off the dribble.

Next year will be a challenge. We haven't seen the jump a lot of the Ryan teams had in second year players. I would have thought Iverson and Thomas would have been much bigger consistent contributors this year.

There is no logical explanation for what the committee has done to Wisconsin... none.

Yeah there is.  FIVE straight losses when it counts the most in the regular season.  We're not talking one game or two games or three games.

We're talking FIVE straight games where they played like pure horsecrap.  They played like a team that belonged nowhere but home.

How you are finishing the season (in conf) should carry some weight.  It's not the only thing, but it doesn't bother me that the committee see's Bucky playing like **** for a month and seeds them accordingly.

I think Bucky's seed is about right (on the low side, but not outrageous).  MN is seeded more wrong than Bucky IMHAACO.

This actually makes sense to me. I didn't have an issue with the Badgers' seeding until I saw the Gophers' seeding.
