Good:

-Thanks to the free preview of NFL Sunday Ticket I got to see the game here in Idaho rather than the Sea Chickens.

-MVS and Lazard made some big catches.  MVS has to concentrate on catching the ball before turning around, however.

-Good OL play.  Jenkins seemed to do just fine at RT.  Later I saw Williams in there and I’m not sure if Jenkins was back at LG or whatever.

-Rodgers and Adams were on fire!

Even Gooder:   Found out we have a 6th grandchild coming our way!

Bad:

-injuries.

-Stopping the run was still a problem at times.

Even Worse:

-the air outside is in the unhealthy category from all the fires here in the west.  We need rain!

Neutral:  I didn’t think our running game was very productive today between the tackles.  However, I was very happy to see Dillon get a few carries.  He looks powerful.

Jaire was the only player on D with impact plays.   The interception before the half and the safety were both huge.

Smith had a sack on 3rd down, other than that no big time plays from the D.

The good: Offense, all around. They are so much better than the week 1 offense last year. Should have been a 50 burger plus if not for a couple of big drops.

The bad: Defense had a few moments and played well early but really lapsed after Kenny Clark went out. We need that guy out there.

The ugly: The two big injuries. Time to call Veldheer, I think. Oh, and WE DIDN'T DRAFT ANY WR's!!! Aaron has no one to throw to!!

Haha. 22nd ranked QB this week in FF. Yeah keep counting him out.

There's no way he is worse than the top 10 this year.

Very impressed with Rodgers, Adams, and the offense in general. The defense was underwhelming for the most part and the injuries sucked. Hopefully they are not serious. Calling Snacks and Veldheer!!

MVS is likely going to be able to get open. Athletically, he's a capable #2 receiver. It's whether he can consistently catch the ball when he's open. If he does, Rodgers will probably be a top 5 QB statistically.

Michael Rodney @Packer notes on Twitter reporting acl for Taylor and out for season.

I think Jon Runyan is a guy you can get by with at guard. He's not going to dominate anyone, but he's not going to get Rodgers killed in pass protection.

This game had a 'scrimmage feel to it.
It was easy to see the Packers are (by far) the better team, at least on offense.

Was also mildly surprised the refs weren't an influence on the game. There was a cheesy call or 2, but, by and large, they let the players play.

Good
Rodgers was as sharp and crisp as he has been in recent memory.
Ditto for "DonVante" Adams.
Degaura had an excellent debut.
Lizard and Ervin had great games. MVS could've, but his drops, especially his 2nd one, were terrible.
The RB Hydra was very good.
The OL was good, if not great. Can't complain about pass protection. Although I thought run blocking was not as good after Patrick went out, they adjusted well and played better from mid- 3rd qtr through the 4th. Runyan had a nice debut.

Bad
Team defense. I thought this was a game the defense should dominate, especially vs the pass, but their effort seemed lackluster. Z Smith with only 1 sack, P Smith didn't even make the stat sheet, and Gary... was Gary.
I think we're better at ILB with Kirksey and Barnes, but neither of them have the speed to be sideline-to-sideline guys.

Shouldn't mention
Clark's groin injury. We really couldn't afford any injury on the DL, having it happen to our best one is a worst case scenario. That's going to be tough to deal with.

He certainly fits the bill of OT's drafted to play guard.

If it's not season-ending, then at least it's early...he should be able to come back...just looking for the silver lining.

From JS Rankings of Packers players :40. G Jon Runyan: Mostly a tackle at Michigan, Runyan adapted well to playing guard in camp. Offensive line coach Adam Stenavich plugged him in at left guard and left him there all camp. Stenavich said nobody improved more than Runyan over the course of three weeks of practice. He’ll sit most of this year, but he showed in one-on-one pass rush drills that he won’t be pushed around. Showing he can play in the wide zone will be an ongoing process.

A wager on what, exactly?

That you're wrong about those Wide Receivers. Obviously we'd have to definte what a successful year is, but off the top of my head I'd say the two of them getting 1,000 yards combined, 14 TDs combined would be a good benchmark.

Today the WR's combined for 22 receptions for 315 yards and 4 TD's. A few costly drops but I'll take those numbers in this offense any week all year.

And you think I'm actually complaining about the WR's.

So I'll ask again, are you really this dense?

at YA & PackerHawk

OG Lucas Patrick (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury -- Bad

Running game. Not bad.

Rodgers - A

Defense - D but I did like the Safety by Jaire & the sack by Z. Fire Pettine! (Joking)

Sure hope Kenny Clark isn't out for any length of time.

If I was an NFL DC, I'd be scared after watching the GB offense today. If I was an NFL OC, I'd think I could beat this GB defense like a drum.

=======

AR looked better than he has in a while. Looked calm the entire time. Took the easy throws and dumpoffs to RBs, didn't do the bounce around the pocket for 20 minutes waiting for a HR. Hit the tough throws as well. Went 22/27 throwing to WRs. Looked perfectly in tune with the MLF offensive plan.

The RB stable is crazy. I'm sitting here thinking - they gotta get more touches for Ervin for sure, like you gotta get the ball in his hands at least 8-10 times a game. But Dillon had really nice burst and I'd love to see him get more looks as well. And Jones is is just tough and makes the right plays and reads. I mean I don't know how you keep everyone happy. Good problem to have I guess. Crazy stat of the day - Ervin played 13 snaps on offense. GB had 6 first downs and 1 TD on those 13 plays.

Adams is a monster. MVS is what he is. Flashes of brilliance, flashes that he can create separation, and then 2 brutal drops. (His hold was really ticky tack...). Lazard looked good, sans tripping himself on an easy TD. I'll still contend that with a legit #2, playing Lazard at #3, this is a monster group. But, with the RBs, and if MVS can get past the yips, they will be more than fine it appears.

TEs were quiet, but if the O produces like this, I mean, so what. Still have no idea what anyone sees in Sternberger, but liked what Deguara did in his time out there - If he doesn't slow down on that sideline route, he has an easy TD.

OL was great. 0 sacks, 2 hits on AR. No negative plays rushing. We might look back in 15 years and say that Elgton Jenkins was Gutey's best draft pick. And that's not at all intended to be snarky. What an asset Jenkins has been. Line him up anywhere and he does his job.

Defense looked fairly good for 2+ quarters. Hope Clark is ok... But, good lord they were awful at times. I said it draft night and I'll continue to - not drafting Patrick Queen is gonna haunt them.

LOL, I guess so. I was taking a shot at the people that whined about not drafting a WR in the first round and YA took the bait and went in a different direction.

Veldheer I’d imagine gets a call from the Packers tonight if in fact Taylor is done for the season. Interestingly, Rodney is the only one reporting this on Taylor and he never has breaking news. He just retweets a Rapp or Schefter type tweet and he didn’t do that. Weird.

I don’t see that report anywhere else. Anyway, Veldheer would provide a decent insurance policy at RT and Turner could resume his role at RG.

Bye the way, Jenkins looked just fine at RT today before going back to LG.

We survived with a patchwork situation at RT this week because the Vikes were beat up, but the Saints will likely be a tough outing in two weeks if we have the same situation. Turner will likely go back to RG and Wagner at RT. We can get Wagner help if needed, but it’s still going to be tough

It was great to see the old, dominant, top of his profession version of Aaron Rodgers. If that is the guy the Packers get for 2020, put another MVP on the shelf and a Lombardi in the trophy case.

After MVS 2nd half juggling display, Rodgers started going to Lazard.

The way #13 softly hauls the ball in was immediately obvious. Reminded me of the way Freeman played in his prime.

I think Lazard is primed for a breakout year as Rodgers trusts him when he has to roll off Davantae.

Scantling started his college career here in Raleigh and was plagued by the dropsies. I doubt he'll ever be able to shake it. I don't care how fast you are if you can't consistently catch.

Just my too sense
