I don't care if the score is 70 to 0 or 3 to 2 any win over the Spermheads is a good day for me.  I don't have to hear squawking from my MN relatives.

The good to me was the offense.  I liked the play calling and at the start Rodgers took what the D gave him and then got warmed up and had a great game.

The bad?  Injuries of course and I hope this isn't one of those MASH unit types of years for the Packers.

No crowd noise in Minnesota was a blessing. Always good to win.

The highlights showed some really nice down field blocks.

Loved the offensive play calling and that QB they want to replace.

I listened to the game and I love Rock and larravee....But Wayne was slipping a bit..I don't know, maybe he needed the exhibition or the dreaded ticks of the clock are adding up.

Good: ARod looked pretty sharp! Dillon had a couple of nice runs. Davante was better than Davante! Lazard is our number 2 WR. Ervin is a player! Elgton Jenkins can play anywhere, on the O line. Smith gets a sack. Defensive Player of the Week, Jaire Alexander, got a Sack and a Safety on Cousins and later got an INT on a pass from Cousins to Thielen. Opie did not have to punt, at all. Runyon looked okay filling in for Taylor.  Zimmer was shaking and quaking on the sidelines.

Bad: Injuries stacked up. Hoping Kenny Clark can be back soon. Lane Taylor was reported to be out for the season. Is that true? Can't recall the other injuries, right now. Wondering if calls to Veldeer will be made, now that its cheaper to add him, after week one.

Davante Adams was nearly unstoppable to end the 2019 season, and he picked up right where he left off to start 2020.

The Green Bay Packers receiver has produced ridiculous numbers over his last six games.

Dating back to Week 15 of last season and including both the postseason and Sunday’s win in the season opener, Adams has caught 58 passes for 766 yards and six touchdowns over his last six games.

His per-game averages during the stretch: 9.7 catches, 127.7 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Extrapolated over a 16-game season: 154 catches, 2,042 yards and 16 touchdowns.

On Sunday, Adams tied a team record with 14 catches. He also caught two touchdown passes. Aaron Rodgers’ passer rating when targeting him was 144.1.

Over the six-game stretch, Adams caught at least seven passes in all six games, and he had five games with over 100 receiving yards and four games with a touchdown catch.

I think the kid is a player! He looked like he wanted to be out there!

I know him and his dad and he wants BADLY to play in the NFL. No one will outwork him, though like Donald Driver he doesn't come with talent that labels him as a can't-miss prospect.

From the internet:

What a week for Barnes, an undrafted free agent from UCLA. He was released during roster cutdowns, quickly signed to the practice squad, promoted to the active roster on Saturday and starting on defense in Week 1 on Sunday.

Barnes was Mike Pettine’s preferred linebacker next to Christian Kirksey to begin the 2020 season. He wasn’t perfect, but he delivered two key stops, including a tackle for loss on a screen pass to Dalvin Cook in the third quarter that helped create a stop. Barnes finished second on the team in total tackles (seven) and first in total tackles for loss (two).

After a decade of watching drafted guys do next to nothing other than making stops 5+ yards past the line of scrimmage, maybe a hungry UDFA with less than dynamic athletic traits is the answer.

I know that screen pass where Barnes aggressively attacked and tackled Cook before the 3 blockers could get to him looked like nothing we've seen out of a Packer ILB in like forever.

Pack certainly needs someone to step up and it would make for a great story.

Krys Barnes Draft Scouting Report. He looks like a guy who will always know where he needs to go. It will be interesting to see now that they know he'll be out there, teams scheme to attack what the scouts thought were his lack of speed and strength.

But he's already shown more instincts than some of their drafted ILBs have over the last decade plus. I don't ever remember AJ Hawk, Carl Bradford, or Jake Ryan making the type of play Barnes did on that play knifing through guys to make a stop yesterday.

For a closer look at Barnes’ game and what he brings to this Green Bay Packers’ defense, here is what Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network had to say about the inside linebacker in his final pre-draft scouting report:

“Positives:Slightly undersized linebacker who shows a great head for the ball. Quick to read and diagnose the action, works hard in all aspects of the game and displays a closing burst of speed. Immediately locates the ball, sells out to make plays and wraps up tackling. Remains disciplined with assignments in coverage and shows ability facing the action. Solid open-field tackler who is fluid in lateral pursuit.

Negatives: Possesses average size and speed. Lacks long pursuit speed.

Analysis: Barnes was a hard-working linebacker who possesses a good head for the ball, but he comes with poor measurables. He offers possibilities as a sixth linebacker who can line up on coverage units at the next level.”

I heard that Wayne and Larry weren't even in Minny. They were at Lambeau watching the game on a big screen and commenting. Not being there live may have affected their commentary.

He wasn’t facing Hunter. But Jenkins looked smooth and fluid at RT. Not sure what the short term plan is for him but it’s CRAZY nice knowing the long term solution at RT might already be on the roster. Great draft pick.  I’d much rather have to find some G’s in the draft than a T. Runyan didn’t embarrass himself.
Packers are LOADED at RB. 4 guys that can hurt a defense in multiple ways.
This Rodgers guy is pretty good. He legitimately hung a 430 yard/5TD game if not for a couple bad drops.

Was impressed to see MVS climb out of his own head after back to back ugly drops.

Alexander safety was 100% on him. He read run and broke. If he doesn’t get there Thielen is wide open. Closest thing I’ve seen to Woodson in GB since Woodson left.

“But Wayne was slipping a bit..I don't know, maybe he needed the exhibition or the dreaded ticks of the clock are adding up.”         I was never really a fan of Wayne......now if your talking Matt LePay......hubba, hubba, love Matt’s voice.  Wish the Packers would make a play for him.

So is Elgton our RT of the future? If Turner and Patrick are healthy I think the combination of those 2 + Bak, Elgton, and Linsley are our best 5. Does Patrick go to RG and Elgton stay at LG or do we go (L>R) Bak, Patrick, Linsley, Turner, Elgton?

It's a tough call...

Putting him at RT balances out the line and probably makes us a better passing team.   Keeping him at LG gives us a guaranteed 3 yards and a cloud of dust, especially if you set Lewis next to that.

I think you go with the balance that putting him at RT gives you.   This is of course predicated on the assumption that he can play RT at high level.

A ton of positives yesterday other than the injuries.  Valdes-Scantling looks recovered from his ankle injury and at the very least is a true deep threat when healthy.

I’d like to see more of AJ Dillon just because of curiosity more than anything.  Just had 2 carries, but his acceleration for a big guy is intriguing.  All the backs did well, so I can see why the Pack didn’t use him much.

My biggest downer of the game other than injuries was letting the Vikes drive to get a FG in only like 24 seconds at the end of the first half.  That was really poor prevent defense after a mostly pretty good half by the D.  Let’s hope they’re better next time that type of situation comes up.
