With Phat Eddie surpassing 100 yards for the 3rd time in 4 games and the Pack running for the most yards ever (230) ever in the MM era (and against a decent defense at that), the running game is now ranked 8th overall in the NFL.
MM is now calling the plays, the OLine is blocking well, and Eddie & James are running well. The running game is really clicking.
Randall Cobb also emerged with 8 catches for 81 yards yesterday. He now has 65 catches for 737 yards and 6 TDs and, in what is considered to be a down year compared to 2014, is on pace to have a decent season.
However, even with the emergence of the running game and Cobb doing better of late, the rest of the passing game is just not very good. Sure ARod has not been as sharp as he has been in the past, but the real problem is the lack of explosive plays/separation in the passing game.
Consider by comparison the passing game performances of our 3 chief NFC rivals this past weekend: Carson Palmer threw 42 & 65 yard TDs, among Russell Wilson's 5 passing TDs (and playing without his top 2 RBs & starting TE) was a 49-yard bomb, and Cam threw 74 & 46 yard TDs in the Panthers 38-0 win.
It is hard to believe this is true given what we've seen in the past, but somehow, somewhere, the Packers need to generate big plays from their WRs, because they are just not getting them anymore (Richard Rodgers Hail Mary notwithstanding). Can JJ, Adams, and possibly Montgomery get it done?
