I agree with Rodgers take. You must open your mind to all people & all walks of faith or you risk being that horse with blinders on.
That's all I'm going to say about religion.
Read "The Jefferson Bible." Ol' TJ took the first books of the New Testament, stripped out the miracles, and what's left is a wonderful manual on how to live a good life. It's a very short work, but really interesting.

My mom blamed god when there was anything she couldn't blame Dad for. Most of the time she screamed that God was punishing her for not going to church, until the one time she had a screaming fit about going to church every Sunday for ages and God still punishing her. It's a big part of why I have a f*** you attitude toward organized religion.

Some experimental Jews already tried that and we wound up with John Calvin, altar boys, Jerry Falwell and mega churches just to name a few. You're either all rainbows and unicorns or you're smiting m'fers all over the place.
